Adult Only trip - CBR or OKW?

Hello! Trying to get back into the swing of all things Disney and plan our 15th anniversary trip in November. This will be the first trip we EVER take without our kids (oldest one will be almost 9 at that point) so I'm pretty stoked on it. We have a very firm budget however and have narrowed down our resort options to either CBR or renting DVC points at OKW. It has been 2 years since our last visit to WDW and in the meantime, I usually stay was from the DISboard because it's depressing, lol, so I fall our of the loop fairly quickly. Any pros/cons to the resorts? Which would you choose?

It will be 2 adults for 4 days... pool is irrelevant, on-site TS meals are irrelevant... can't think of anything else that we're really set on one way or the other.

Thanks!

Is Disney Springs in your plans? At OKW you can use the boat rather than bus or drive.

We have stayed at both and OKW is our favorite. Even though it is large (so is CBR) it has a quaint vibe. And, as ncc1701 says, there is the added perk of a boat to DS. I know you said that TS is irrelevant, but just in case, Olivia's in OKW is one of our favorites. Enjoy! Well deserved.

I love CBR, but if you read the CBR thread, they have filed permits to do some pretty major construction - probably the long-rumored DVC "tower". There is not a timeline as of yet, but it made me nervous enough I switched my August reservation to AoA. A room refurb (which I've been there for) is one thing. Demolishing buildings and doing major construction is something else, and I didn't want to take a chance.

Translation: Between your two choices, talking November, I'd go with OKW.

This time, it's not. We have a partial day before going home and I think we're going to try Boardwalk instead since we've never been over there. We typically stay at one of the Port Orleans resorts with the kids so we usually hop the boat to Disney Springs for part of a day.

Yeah, I've seen just a tiny bit about the refurb (and addition of DVC rooms) but haven't read enough to know what the timeline and impact was going to be like. :/

Yeah, we don't know the timeline yet, but given that for a not-really-busy time (late August) to only have King, Water, and Pirate rooms left tells me that something is up. It seems really weird to me to have major construction AND a major refurb going on at 2 moderate resorts (CSR is having their big room refurb now) going on at the same time, but it looks like they might be doing it. I decided not to take a chance. Refurb is one thing (I was there during the CBR refurb) as it can be kept pretty quiet. Destruction and construction is something else all together.

Just an FYI OKW refurbishment is starting in a few months. It's our DVC home resort, we opted for VWL this June as it was noted that it would be under construction at that time. So whatever is rumored to be starting at CBR it's not confirmed as OKW refurbs are when it comes to the coming summer. It is also expected to take a good while to finish (year?)Good luck no matter what you pick, adult vacations rock!!!
