Souvenirs that you actually use at home

I am a Disney souvenir addict! I could spend way too much of my vacation in the stores if my kids would let me. I have bought all manner of t-shirts, pens, and even a bonsai tree. But my favorites are things that remind me of my trips and also are actually functional in our home. These are two:

The pot holder works better than any others I own and the bottle opener works and feels good in your hand while you use it.

What have you bought at Disney world that keeps making you happy at home? What should I look for next time?

I have two things. One is a keychain that has Mickey Mouse hiding behind the capital K (my initial). I had bought myself this keychain as a teenager...many years ago. I had described it to my family and mentioned how much I had liked it. My husband found it when we were at Disney two years ago and surprised me with a new one. The other Disney souvenir I have and love is a Mickey Mouse trivet for our kitchen.

We are going again next month and I will once again be searching out something useful that I can enjoy having/using/seeing on a daily basis.

I wear a disney piece of jewelry every day when I leave the house. It's usually a watch, I must own at least 10 of them. I have a couple of throws that I use, salt and pepper shakers stay on my dining room table. I have a couple of coffee cups, I don't use them every day but they are used. I have a silver tinker bell that sits on my end table in my family room, if I need a little luck I'll ring it when I walk by. I have a little figment and tinkerbell figurine which sit on my desk (they used to put them in your rooms in deluxe resorts if you were a return visitor).

I stopped buying souvenirs that didn't have much of a function at home like stuffed animals and ear hats.
I mean if there is something that I absolutely must have that is not functional then I'll get it but I try not to lol.

My top used souvenirs at home are...
-zip up hoodies which is use as an everyday coat for part of the year
-bucket hats/baseball hats which I use daily when I go on my walk and during the summer when I go to fairs and the beach
-My Vera Bradley hipster in midnight with Mickey which I use everyday
-WDW wallet which I use everyday

Other Items that I use often are...
-sunglasses
-t-shirts
-sweatshirts
-blankets

We make use of all of the souvenirs we purchase!

- Disney themed mugs
- Mickey Mouse baking tray
- Fridge magnets with clips for notes
- WDW hoodie
- Finding Nemo beach towel
- Mickey Mouse drink coasters
- Mickey Mouse toothbrush holder

You can tell that we're Disney fans when you visit our house!

Things we buy and actually use:

Potholders, ice cream scoop and pizza wheel all in red/black/white Mickey design. I've had my current set for almost 10 years now and use them on a regular basis. Also I buy refrigerator magnets - we use them all - with 4 kids we are always hanging stuff up on the fridge.

Disney shirts/hoodies/blankets/towels all get used in our household too. I have many shirts passed down from the older kids to the younger ones. And the large t-shirts make great sleepwear once we are home.

Oldest DD has an Alex & Ani Disney charm bracelet collection and Vera Bradley backpack/wallet she uses daily as well.

I used to stay away from breakables (like mugs) but we just got a new Keurig machine and am finding we could actually use more mugs in the house - so I'll probably be buying some Disney ones on our next trip.

Man I need one of those silicone pot holders now! I use one to rest my flat iron on when I'm using it or it's cooling. Many years ago when I was a college kid, my mom made my roomie and I flat iron bags out of a random cloth placemat. This trip I bought some kitchen towels with Orange Bird on them and they will be turned into those bags too and used for travel!

Using my Haunted Mansion mug today! Also the refillable resort mug I use several times a week. And my Mickey teapot-that one gets lots of use!
For the kids-they all got pillow pets in a Disney character a few years ago-and all 3 use them regularly. My oldest took hers to college with her (Lady from Lady and the Tramp). We got lots of complements coming home on the plane with those LOL. We also have beach towels (used every summer), sweatshirts and tshirts that all of us wear regularly.

We still have a framed artwork DH and bought 26 years ago while on DCP on what used to be know as Pleasure Island.

Every year I buy a new mug so every morning I can reminisce while having a cup of tea. I also buy a magnetic photo frame for my fridge, and a Disney pad for my shopping lists. I like to be reminded of all my trips, and bring on the excitement of my next.

There are so many other things I would love to buy though, but I try to resist.

Park and character baseball caps. Mickey bottle opener. Mickey wine stopper. Mickey coasters. WDW and CSR shot glasses. And we yearn for the kitchen items every time. (Coasters, ice cube trays, pot holders, some of the mugs etc.) We talk about relocating to Central Florida, but we probably wouldn't be able to afford walking into a Disney gift shop ever again (since we would no longer need to limit our purchases to what we could fit in our suitcases.)
