Pin Trading on the Decline?

Has anyone else noticed that pin trading seems to have died down over the last few years? I started pin collecting around 2004-2005 and the pins I would be trading for were crazy good. A lot of the pins I have in my collection were from trades with cast members, with most being LE and CM exclusives. I just got back from a 9 day trip and it seems as if all the cast members have now are hidden Mickey pins. It's still fun to trade and hunt for the ones you want, but I can't help but notice how much the quality of pins has died down.

I agree 100%, and although I haven't been into trading nearly as long as you it just seems that its slowly getting less focus from the company. ie: scoop stopping trading and then leaving completely, no HM being released in 2016. I do see alot of scrappers and many old pin board locations no longer even have boards for trade. I still love the hobby and have fun with it but really wish it could get some more focus from the higher ups.

I don't necessarily feel that the volume of trading opportunities has decline all that much (it seems to ebb and flow, depending on the time of year). I noticed that during the busier periods of the year, it seems like there are fewer CMs wearing lanyards and more focus on pin boards, while during the less busy times there are more CMs wearing lanyards. In terms of quality, I do think that the easy access to scrappers/pin lots on places like eBay has made it much more common to see the same designs over-and-over.

This is what I mean. i don't really see the volume of pin trading decreasing, just the quality. I truly have an incredible collection of pins that most of came from trades. I don't really have too much of a desire to trade anymore because of it.

I do like to pin trade with the officers on cruises. However, mostly I buy what I like and keep them.
