I have a new job and its term time only which bumps prices up a bit, Who has been in August and got good deals and how? We would like to stay at Disney all stars and go for 10 days. Would like tickets and quick service dining and will be 2 of us. Looking at going 2018 but been using 2017 prices as a little guide.

Just aside, have you been in summer before? August is still sauna-on-the-surface-of-the-sun weather (so that you're prepared for it.)

We're tied to term times too - I can get the girls out of school but not my teacher husband!
We booked on-site for Aug 17 with free dining / 14 day tickets for the price of 7 / free memory maker / all the extras, then waited for flights to be released. When the dates I'd booked didn't work I just called Disney and switched to suit the flights, they were fab.
We're doing indirect flights out but direct home. We're going to be tired...
The heat in August is a killer but, if you're prepared it's do-able.

We were at WDW last August, and we read a lot regarding the heat. In the end, we found it was bearable, definitively nicer than Egypt at the same date. We would suggest you buy some technical shirts and pants, we got some at our local Decathlon store, and used them everyday.

We went August just gone and we found the heat bearable. Yes it was hot but taking breaks and drinking lots of water seemed to do the trick. The last 2 weeks of August are quieter as American schools have gone back. It is rainy/hurricane season though so be aware of that. Dining plan I don't think is offered free with value resorts so you may want to price up a moderate with free dining too just to compare. Any questions- just ask!

The later you go in august the better. We find it cheaper if we go after the 15th August.

Flight prices seems to be always higher than the rest of the summer though.

I went last august from the 19th and I found great flight prices on skyscanner, like others said the later in the month you can go the better, we flew indirect with Lufthansa via Frankfurt and I got 3 fares for £1200 so it can be done. yes it was hot but if youre prepared for that then you will survive, lots of water and cooling cloths. Try booking your flights separate to the rest of your package to save money.

We go in August too and the heat isn't awful for us!

We search everyday for flights and we managed to get a really cheap deal for this summer in August at £330 each in direct with good times, but that deal is long gone now. you have to keep checking at least every day,I was more like three times a day and when you see a good price don't think twice! Keep checking the boards too as members update good deals when they see them xx

We went in August and it was wonderful in the water parks. The heat was hard-going but my kids (especially the youngest) found it particularly hot. Plenty of breaks and water really helps.

I pretty much always go in April or August - to be honest last April was just as hot as August usually is but August is more of a sticky or humid heat. The heat feels drier in April. In all honesty though August heat has never bothered me too much, if you know it's going to be hot and you're prepared it's not a massive issue from experience.

Last 2 weeks of August, as others have pointed out, are quieter. This year we're not going until the 28th, flights were £590 each direct with Virgin and hotel was about £3,000 at AKL for room, tickets and DDP. Have been to AS Sports before and it's nice, I feel like you'll be able to get a really good price on the hotel - but we only got free QS breakfast, so you may have to pay to upgrade to full QS DDP or have a look at the difference in price between staying at a moderate and upgrading the plan.
