party:He's graduating with a dual major in business and IT mgmt in 2 weeks. We will give him some cash but I'd like some sort of keepsake to commemorate this milestone. He's still hunting for a job in his field so I'm not sure what he might need for his career. Any suggestions?

A fancy frame from his college for his diploma. . A watch. Briefcase/laptop bag/clothes for his career

Wanted something similar for son's 21st and ended up with a landscape photograph by a friend who is a professional and does it for a living. The subject has a personal connection for my son, it's signed and framed. Could have some value as time goes on. Wanted something that was more "adult" and something he could keep and "use". He was pleased by it. Is there any artwork, photography, or something like that he would appreciate?

I'll be interested in other suggestions as we will be looking for a graduation gift in the near future.

What about nice barware with the college logo or crest on it? Is he moving into a field that still uses business cards? My dh still has to carry them and he carries them in a nice case that my mother gave him for college graduation. It has his name and the graduation year engraved on it. It has a piece of circuit board on the lid and he's gotten lots of compliments on it over the years. I've also seen some nice ones with college seals on them. A leather portfolio for holding his resume during interviews is nice. I was given one for graduation that had a pocket on one side and held a yellow pad on the other. I looked quite professional when I went to interviews and used it to take notes and look at a few questions I had jotted down in advance. Several interviewers were impressed that I bothered to do that.

One of the best, most enduring college graduation gifts I ever received was a reverse-glass painting of the main building of my alma mater. It has a mirror below the section with the painting. You would have to google it to see if they have your son's school.

My mom got me a nicer frame (around $250 vs standard $50 or so) for my diploma directly related to the university (i.e. mascot-which is really big for my university)..some had pictures of the WWII memorial you walk under during graduation (an important image for the university which is also a bell tower).

Is there anything like that at the college your son is graduating from that you could get on a diploma frame or something else?

Similar to what PlutoPony mentioned there are companies you can buy things that have those letters that have images from campus that can spell whatever you want.

We got DS a Watch from his Alma Mater with the mascot and school colors on the face, then had it engraved.
Graduate school - we had that very expensive diploma framed with his commencement program and tassel

Congratulations!!!!
My son is graduating the 14th with a BA is Business.....
I haven't even thought about a gift, we are knee deep planning his wedding and that has really taken the focus, guess I better get on it.

Let us know what you decide!

We got our DD a very nice engraved pen. And, we paid off her car loan. We are getting her an ornament from her university for St. Nicks (who brings her an ornament every year, with some significance for that particular year.)

When I graduated many many years ago, my parents and grandparents sent me to Europe as a graduation gift. My group of 8 friends planned a month long backpack, youth hostel, Eurorail trip for right after graduation. I didn't have the money to go, so my family combined all their gifts into one and sent me on the trip. I have memories from that trip that will last a lifetime!

I gave my son a trip to China to visit me and opened a scholarship fund in his name in the school's computer science program....

Maybe some good quality luggage. A 2 or 3 piece matched set is nice but if you only get one, a wheeled carry-on.

When I think keepsake, I think of jewelry, though I realize some men don't wear it. A nice watch is very traditional, or a gold signet initial ring. If he's a more casual type of guy, there are some beautiful wooden watches. DH has one; he loves it and gets lots of compliments.

My daughter graduated college in May. We bought her a nice frame for her diploma that had the school seal on the matting. We also gave her some savings bonds that we had been saving for her since she was a baby. And then we took her on vacation to Hawaii for 10 days. :D

She's in graduate school now for speech-language pathology and is about to finish her first semester.

One of my son's BFF's from high school went the speech pathology route, she completed her Masters, is now working and LOVES it! Congrats to your DD
