Can't decide - PB or RPR cl?

Shortened version is last couple of trips I have had to cancel but now planning 2018 (can book already through UK agent who is doing length of stay offers), have stayed at both RPR and PB before but not CL. I usually stay at Disney CL but am disillusioned generally so am now thinking for my complete 8 night trip (solo) I will stay at universal as I prefer the hotels and will probably just visit Disney a couple of times, the other times it will be universal, relaxing and shopping :) If money wasn't a consideration which CL is better for relaxing?

I`d always choose RPR over PBH regardless of what the price was, but I`m biased :D

Both CL are nice. We find RP CL is unbelievably quiet when food isn't being served. It never seems overly busy at food and drink times either.

Several people reported finding PB CL a bit difficult to get tables at times......they are however revamping PB CL at some point, I would assume it might be done by time you go in 2018.

Choose whichever theme you prefer and that suits you best, both are lovely so you can`t really go wrong with either.

Edited to ask.......Are you Clare from The Dibb??

Yes that's me :)

Thank you for your opinion on RP, I really do prefer the rooms at PB but I'm not 100% comfortable on walking those long hallways at night, especially seeing as sometimes the rooms can be a long way from the lounge. However, I prefer the fact RP is all under one roof and I do like the tropical theming too. I like the sound of the RP CL not been overly busy at food times, that is what has always put me off at the Disney CLs.

I`m glad to see you`re returning Clare. I don`t go on The Dibb much at all to even read anymore, but did see a recent post of yours on there.........

The rooms have all been refurbed at RP and they are really pretty and we just find the CL is quite spread out, so never feels overly busy to us even when it may be........but, good luck with whichever you choose.......:-)

This is a debate we have in our house every time we plan a trip. My crew all say they liked the RP Club just a tad bit better than PB (and that is because they offered a bit more at breakfast, which I have heard might eventually happen at PB as well), but PB wins out for us as far as everything else goes, so we always end up at PB Club. We are currently counting down the days until we are there again. :) Good luck on your decision.

Because of work, we stay on club level whenever we travel. The food offerings at PB were typical to any lounge but the service was the best I have seen in a long time, maybe ever. Those attendants keep the food areas clean and filled and provided table service for drinks in the evening. This was our first universal visit so I can't offer comparisons to other universal properties but it stands up against the hotels we stay at in the northeast.

Thank you everyone, can I just ask re PB is it really inconvenient having rooms a distance from the lounge? Also, is it possible to take drinks/food back to one's room?

I have now booked 8 nights at the Portofino Bay in a club level room :) It was a really tough call between PB and RPR but the PB theming won me in the end.

You can take food/drink items back to your room

The TM will help you with containors

They usually try to place your room as close as possible to the lounge
If the room type you want is not close as you want to club lounge, you would have more of a walk

The lounge is on the 3rd floor
Your room can be on other floors

Hey there! We just got back from our first stay at PB and stayed CL. We have stayed CL in Disney and felt this blew Disney's CL away. We were easily able to make dinner out of the offerings each night!!! Something different every night like Fetucinni Chicken, pasta, fajitas, rice, Asian chicken, etc. with full salad bar, tons of cheese, veggies.... The club level lounge itself is huge. Never had a day where we didn't have a table. Loved hanging out with the kids between park time on the couch with a snack and a drink watching tv. CL staff was SO friendly and helpful. Every morning, on top of cereals, bagels, fruit, tons of pastries and bread, they also had scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs and tater tots. Their lemonade during snack time was delicious. The CL rooms at PB are huge too. Worth every penny. We will definitely be back there next November!! Highly recommend.
