Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if they are still doing screamer of the day contests outside of Monsters, Inc? I heard they were doing it at park opening- does this mean after EE if they have it or whenever the park opens even if it's opening with EE? My DD is hoping to do this one morning if it's still there so I was hoping it will still be going, but figured I'd ask the experts if they knew any updates- thanks!

Guess who it was today!! My DD!!!!! Made her week! They didn't do it Wednesday but did today and sounds like tomorrow too. EE didn't effect it and it goes on right at regular opening. No Sully today- just wonderful CM's doing it.

Congrats! I bet that was awesome!!

I am so interested ... What is "Screamer of the Day?" We are huge Monsters Inc fans!!
It's great! On certain park days before they open the Monsters Inc ride they have the kids waiting there scream to "start up" the ride. The most excited and loud kid wins a pass that says Screamer of the day on it (great souvenir) and goes in the exit for the ride all day- no waiting!

Is there any way to know before going back there if they are doing it? By EE doesn't affect it, do you mean they have it on EE days at EE? Or regular opening time? Or not at all? Were there a lot of kids? Thanks!

We did it twice and yes, it was right at park opening. My DD won it twice. She is an incredibly loud person - there is no joy in having a child win this by the way - it just means you need to wear earplugs around your home!

I believe that it happens when the park opens at regular time, even on EE days.
Yes- even if it opens early it's just after normal park hours open. It's also not every day- they did it weekends when we were there in Dec. check with a CM and they can tell you what days they will do it. The day we did it Sully was not there but sometimes he is there as well.

I am sure there was a time when this ride was new that it got some good lines going. However, it was almost comical when they awarded my DD this prize and told her "now you can ride through the exit all day" as the ride never had more than a 5 minute wait time our entire trip! This was back in 2012 though, we have ridden it every trip since but we never went when it had any wait to speak of.

We've seen it with a line a few times. The first was during one of the nights they had the Mad T Party going on. The line was a good 20 minutes. Then when we visited last year the line was 30 minutes. The Frozen stuff was drawing crowds to that corner, and it was a Sunday. We didn't ride either time as we too are used to walking on.

The line gas been over 20 minutes the last two times we have gone, both in 2015. That area has gotten a lot busier!

My DD was just pleased to have gotten a Disney "award" as a souvenir and to have won. I think we did the ride maybe twice that day just to use the exit entrance lol still fun even when the line swells to 20-30 minutes on busy days haha

Good morning !
Heading to DCA this morning...... are they still doing Screamer of the Day ?

Yes, they do still do it sometimes. We participated in it once in the past year. It was cute. It's hard to gauge when it's going to happen sometimes. The last few times we've been there, Monster's didn't open right away and we missed out because it opened while we were grabbing FP for something else. So, if you're heart is set on participating, it's best to sit around the area if they aren't opening right away.
