***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

I had never heard of tipping housekeeping until our first Disney trip, either! I'm still on the fence about it. Technically, it's not a tipped position. We did $5/day last time. Might do that again this time.

Agree with you. I tip 20%+ for servers but housekeeping positions are not paid in the same way. I generally leave something but generally only on the last day. I'm not a messy person so it's generally only a few dollars.

My flight was changed a couple times early on but I never could see any way to cancel it. I'd love to know how to do that, just in case we get the opportunity again! We're flying down on SW and back on United.

When I go to look at my account it prompts me to accept or reject the change. I closed the window a couple of weeks ago without doing either :-)
Checked yesterday and it prompted me again. I guess I have to decide if I want to reject it on the site or call.

Have any of you seen a video of the new Muppets: Great Moments in American History show at the MK?

I just watched it trying to decide whether I should plan for this in my "touring plans" but I'm thinking it's not going to be a hit with my kids. I think they'll be too far away to really enjoy it (they'll enjoy the muppets at HS better I think) and they are probably too young at 3 & (almost) 5 to understand the history and the Muppets humor. I think my DH would find it boring. And you're standing for it outside so it's not a good "rest" for tired feet. I think I'm the only one that would WANT to see it :-)

What are your thoughts on this?

Why not see it? Parents should should enjoy their trip too. :) Who knows, everyone might like a little downtime.

Maybe happen to pass by during a show and see the mood. If kids are not in the mood, send them to have a snack with dad and you can catch up ;)

Ordered more shirts from teepublic last night. :rolleyes1
I HAD to get DH the Gizmo Duck shirt I saw...it's his favorite character and there's never anything in the parks with him on it.
I also got us semi-matching Best Day Ever shirts (in different colors with the castle.)
Still have to order my SDFP MB's from Disney store online, and decide if I'm going to get the Vera mini-hipster. I really want to make sure whichever crossbody bag I bring is lightweight and the strap won't irritate me.

Oh, and yesterday I was at Walmart and moseyed over to the Christmas stuff. There was a woman looking in the same aisle as me, and at the same time we both noticed Mickey ear headbands with little Santa hats on them.
OMG! I have been making my own ears for our trip, but now must travel to a Walmart to find these ! Closest Walmart to me is about 40 minutes away... but will be worth it if they have these ears!!! Did you buy them? If so, can you pretty please post a picture?
We got to talking, and turns out she's going to Disney on Dec 9, and is saying at Pop! She told me I would love AoA, especially the Little Mermaid rooms. That made me feel a little better. :)

Speaking of shopping, I think I finally have my Etsy and Amazon orders figured out.

Here's the Etsy stuff. Omg, I just fell in love with the hot chocolate earrings and the ornament necklace made on a Scrabble letter (I'm a big word nerd too, lol)

I'm debating if I'll do the This Girl Runs on Coffee and Pixie Dust shirt too, or if I should save the $20. I do really like it though! Eek.

Amazon is easier, since it's the sling bag, which is a necessity, and one shirt. Christmas Vacation is one of my all time fave Christmas movies, lol

Love the MB decals! I tried to convince DH to get matching shirts that said on one "Why is the carpet all wet, Todd?" And the other said "I don't KNOW, Margo!" :rotfl:

Ok experts.
Does anyone else bring breakfast food for the hotel? I have done the cereal cups before, but I don't think they are enough for my son anymore. We are flying, but with southwest so I have an entire suitcase to pack stuff in. Any suggestions?
Staying in POFQ, so no kitchen

Has anyone used Amazon prime now to the resort? Is that even possible

Thank you for the suggestion, we are taking magical express from airport. Unless the bus wants to make a pit stop

I've done Garden Grocer in the past and it worked out great! However, this trip it's just DH and I so we won't meet the minimum. I got a lot of great info here on the Dis about Amazon Prime Now, so I'm going to use them. We like having bottled water, bananas, protein bars, muffins, and other easily portable breakfast foods.

Should we leave tips every day or just at the end of the trip? I'm so used to cruising that I don't know what to do in hotels LOL.
Typically everyday is best because different people clean your room. I make my Mousekeeping envelopes ahead of time with the money in them so I can just leave it on the pillow and go. :)

I think I'm planning on not planning anything more. I realized today I'd like some spontenaity in the trip.

The only thing really left to do is put in our BOG orders next week.
BOG orders---I haven't been to bog yet...concerned that we won't really know what we feel like eating ahead of time and #2--i have some food allergies I'll need to consider...is it better to wait until I get there? What's the advantage to ordering ahead??

Omg, I keep seeing those matching shirts online!!! I just need someone to wear them with, lol. So many classic lines in that movie!

So somehow I totally missed that Saratoga Springs and OKW are actually in the same neck of the woods! There's a walking path, and I can walk from one to the other in 1.2 miles. This makes my resort switch day even easier!

Hey, I'm at POFQ...you'll find me in line for gluten free beignets for breakfast!

My DD is celiac, so we are big on the gluten free. Didn't realize that was an option for thoes. She is not coming on this trip, but I am planning already for the trip next year.

And thoes might have to happen multiple times

Will let you know how they are, but I've read about them on multiple sites and they all say they're terrific.

So my original plan for arrival day 12/1 at 3pm was to check in then go to Disney Springs then I heard about ROL and was keeping that evening open...only available time...now that I see the new things at Disney Springs I am thinking that might be the better idea regardless. My DGD knows nothing of ROL but would love meeting Santa

You know, the more I think about it, I'm *almost* ready to give up on ROL as well as I'd originally planned. I have back up plans on my AK night and honestly a carriage ride with the kids through POR is almost sounding better to me right now! I just want to solidify my plans and get excited about them. I don't then want to second-guess myself three weeks from now when we know about ROL!

But you are right, the DS stuff looks really good and I"m so glad we are spending an evening there on our last night! My kids will love meeting Santa so much (definitely more than ROL!)

I just swapped fast passes for two activities between two days and I think it is improving my flow so much! On our first day 12/4 we had mostly Tomorrowland fast passes (Buzz for DH&DS, Space Mountain for Me&DD, Speedway for all) plus Ariel's Grotto. I didn't like the rushing. On 12/5 we are doing a PPO BOG (hopefully if park hours don't change!) and starting the day in Fantasyland. We'd had a 9:45 Talking Mickey fast pass which bothered me because it meant walking all the way back to the front of the park. I had tried to swap Ariel's Grotto and Mickey before, but there was no morning Ariel's Grotto available on 12/5 whenever I checked. I looked a few minutes ago and there was a 9am Ariel's Grotto on 12/5, so I did the swap to have Talking Mickey as we arrived in the MK mid-day on 12/4. Seems like a good introduction to Disney for the kids to start off meeting Mickey!

Now on 12/4, we don't have to rush from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland to meet Ariel at a certain time, and we can meet Mickey on our way in!

And on 12/5, we don't have to backtrack to the front of the park to meet Mickey after having been in Fantasyland at Rope Drop.

Win, win!!

I'm looking forward to the festival of trees at DS (at least that's what I think they called it).

Just have to say I have the exact same problem with my Mickey fastpass. I wasn't initially supposed to go to MK so early (or eat at MK) but since we're doing a PpO that day, I'd have to go to BOG then backtrack to Mickey for my first FP! My plan right now is to order drinks only at BoG and maybe a cupcake then head to tomorrowland first before heading back to Mickey... maybe I need to rethink this :surfweb:

you totally sound like me, lol. I want to know what the deal is and now that I have my backup plan in place... dinner @CA grill and then monorail to epcot for spaceship earth, soarin' and Illuminations and maybe a few other things... I kind of want to stick with my backup plan lol. It's the only soarin' FP+ that I have, the rest of my plans involve rope drop so to me they are a lot more dicey.

That said, I think I just need to cool my jets and acknowledge that it is ok to leave a little flexibility in my plans. I want to know what I am doing NOW but I think when RoL is announced and going I am going to want to do that.
