My family is looking to stay for just a coupe of nights on Disney property as a surprise to my little girl (my folks live in Kissimmee and we've never actually stayed on property).

Have found similar priced option for a 2-night stay, with 2-day park tickets. One is staying at the Art of Animation in one of the Little Mermaid rooms. The other is one of the Royal rooms (very princess themed based on the photos I've seen) at Port Orleans Riverside. Both themes would be GREAT for my daughter.

Looking for any and all feedback - which would be the best option? As I said, price difference is negligible, so not a factor in choosing one over the other.

Thanks in advance!!!

What you will get at POR over AoA:

Double sinks
Queen beds
Larger room
Coffee maker in room
Ceiling fans
Pool slides
Hot tubs
Sit down restaurant
Lusher grounds
Multiple bus stops

Because of the above extras, we would choose POR.

Price negligible? HANDS DOWN a Royal Guest room at POR. If you rarely stay on property, this would be the real treat.

The rooms are well done, she will love it. The resort is beautiful. The rooms are a great location in the resort.

And all the things @dansdad listed.

I stayed both same trip and port orleans would be my choice by a mile. The rooms are waaaynicer, the grounds are gorgeous, andthe beautiful boatride to downtown disney is really special.

I voted for Art of Animation because you said it was for your daughter and the little mermaid area and pool is amazing. Google some pictures.

That said, I would choose POR for my family because my kids are older and I perfer the extra amenities and the beautiful grounds.

I would always go moderate before value if given the choice so I choose POR.

We've never stayed value because of the lack of amenities, especially pool slide and hot tubs. The pool is a huge part of our vacation.

Hands down POR. The rooms are far, far more comfortable and the resort is lovely. I've stayed at both and would never stay at AoA again. It was so uncomfortable and so loud. The royal rooms are beautifully decorated and the headboard alone is worth they stay!

Wow, so many more replies than I expected, especially given my "newbie" status. You all rock!! Thanks so much for the feedback. We're booked for a 2-night stay at POR the week before Christmas. We've been visiting Disney for a LONG time. I almost can't believe we're finally going to stay there!

Not expecting anyone to actually come back to this thread given its age, but if they do... THANKS SO MUCH! We did stay at POR, and it was BRILLIANT! The room was amazing (my daughter was mesmerized!), and finally staying on Disney property really was all we'd hoped it would be. We've already started planning the next trip.

Thanks again for the advice. It was spot on what we were looking for.

That's awesome! So glad you had a great trip. Our first stay was POR RR, and it was perfect! AofA is a resort that is fun to visit & look around as the themeing is phenomenal, and it's fun to see it & walk around, but I find POR so relaxing.

I love when people come back and report on their stay. Glad you had a great time! :)

Glad you had a great time and loved POR. We've never stayed there, but I have always thought it was a beautiful resort with a lot to offer. Have fun planning your next trip :wizard:.
