I feel silly that I don't quite get this, but do you have to go IN the park to get to Guest Relations to get the DAS? There are Guest Relations windows at the parks, the water parks, DS, and TTC. However can you do the DAS at DS and TTS? Or only at the actual parks? And do we have to go IN the park to get the DAS, or can we stop there on arrival day, get the DAS, and then enter the parks the following days?

If I wait and get the DAS the first day the person needing the DAS goes in the parks, it will be Epcot for EMH. (At least that's our current plan.) Do they tend to let the people through security kind of early for EMH? So like if EMH starts at 8am, they'll start letting people into parts earlier, yes? But then we'd have to, during that time, work on getting the DAS, yes?

I just figured it would be easier to do it the day we arrive. I also need to activate our military salute tickets, so I figured we could do both. I have to have the military sponsor with us to activate the tickets, but he will probably sleep in and not go to EMH, meaning I have to go to one of the guest relations locations anyway with our whole group on the day we arrive. So it would make more sense to get the DAS and activate the tickets at the same time, if I can figure out how. Activating the tickets works at any of those guest relations locations. It's only the DAS part that befuddles me.

DAS is handled at the park Guest relations and yes typically has to be the in park GR. Sometimes they will have a GR person or two outside in the morning to handle it but there is no guarantee.

At the international gateway into Epcot guest relations is outside of the park before you present your ticket to get in. This is also where we activated tickets and got the DAS for my son.

Hey, I think I may have found further explanation! In this thread http://www.disboards.com/threads/wd...15-digital-das-on-tickets-magicbands.3178976/ it says to get to any GR you go through security. The first GR is more for tickets and gets bogged down with those. So that's why people are saying inside, because you're through security. However you could, if the lines are short, do it at the first layer of GR instead of the 2nd. But it sounds like it's not dependable, depending on how busy they are.

So now it's making more sense! We'll just have to see how that first day goes. If we can make it to one of the parks, we will.

Yes, you've got it now.

We get one every year for a child in our party. We have to go to GR inside the first of the 4 main parks we visit. The DAS guest has to be there as they take a picture of them with an ipad, then all our magic bands are scanned (3 of us) to link the DAS to us all.

I have gotten my DAS at the outside guest service window at Epcot (the one before entering the park). I had another issue I had to address there and asked if I could take care of both at one time and they said yes.
If you have to go to a guest service window to activate your military salute tickets, I would ask if you could take care of both needs at once. It certainly can't hurt.

I may try this as well for our December trip. We'll be touring the resorts on arrival day and it would be great to have it out of the way so we can get to rope drop on our first park day and hit the rides not needing to make that extra stop. If it doesn't work out no big deal, but it's worth a try.

1) EMH entry is for WDW on-site resort guests.
2) DAS is not a requirement.
3) So, you can still get in early, go to Guest Services, and get your DAS.

Yes

We just want to make sure people know there is a possibility that DAS might not be available at the Guest Relation locations just outside of the Theme Parks.
If you have to go there anyway for a ticket issue, you are going there anyway, so may as well ask.

Also FYI, guests do need to go thru bag check/security to get to those Guest Relations areas.

You'd be OK with stopping by a park to try to get the DAS at an outside GS? Which resorts are you planning on touring? Resorts do not issue the DAS, do they?

Yes, only the 4 main theam parks ( MK AK EPCOT HS) issue DAS card, some times if they are not busy have the right iPad you can get a DAS from out side the park GR, but not always.

We'd be doing the monorail resorts with dinner at CR and walking to MK for the bus back to our resort and also the Epcot resorts earlier in the day, so we will be close to MK and the International Gateway at Epcot.

1) The policy is his is done at THE PARKS.
2) You cannot cheat the system, nor should you try to.

I don't believe anybody suggested that. The OP asked where DAS can be requested, posters correctly indicated only at one of the major theme parks possibly without entering the park, and another PP clarified that they must go to a park not just a resort. Since OP has received the information requested, and confirmed intent to be at a park to request DAS, I am closing this thread.
