how often do the buses go back to the ship?
what time is the last bus?
and if I go to Animal Kingdom to start can I take the bus back from Magic Kingdom?

Any help appreciated! thanks

I have a feeling you have a cruise that has a port stop in Canaveral with an excursion to WDW. Is that correct?

You can leave from a different park than you were dropped off at. Busses will be waiting by exits, no need to sign up ahead of time or anything. I believe the last park to close that day will be MK. I've heard that the last busses will leave MK after the fireworks. Other busses at the other parks will likely run up to an hour after closing time. I guess you'll be the first NY Bahamas sailing. You need to report back to us on all this kind of stuff when you get back!

OK. I had a whole thing typed out about DCL transportation then I realized we were talking aabout different things. :)

It's possible I was the only one who was ever going to misunderstand the question. :) But now it's totally crystal clear, so others who have the answer can help you. :)

thank you very much. I will double check about last bus to be sure but everything else sounds perfect. I will let you know how it goes. :daisy:

Last time, they gave you the bus schedule as you headed to the parks so you knew if you were park hopping when the busses ran from the park you ended up at. The busses ran on a regular schedule throughout the day until a bit after park close. The communications I've seen from DCL, looks to be running the same way this time around.

Yes, I was just going to post the same thing. Last year we got a bus schedule.

When I did my online check in for the the October 7th, 2016 cruise we had to pick which park we wanted to start in.

I also just found a Disney Magic Photo Pass card that I believe we were given either in our room or before we boarded the bus (can't remember exactly).

I have the opposite question... We are at the Wilderness Lodge for a week before our cruise (March Dream). What's the transportation situation from the resort to Port Canaveral?

Just to be clear, the OP was talking about the DCL cruises from NY where Port Canaveral is a port call. You are referring to a cruise starting in Port Canaveral.

The busses from the resorts to the port typically pick up at the resorts between 11 - 12: 30. You find out what time the pick-up at your resort is the night before - one pick-up time for the resort, there are not multiple times you can select from. (Times vary cruise to cruise based on the passenger load for each resort.) Typically if you are one of the first pick-ups, chances are good you will be stopping at multiple resorts before heading to the port. In most cases you arrive at the port between 12:30 and 1:30 although we had one occasion that we arrived after 2pm and I've heard other stories of the resort busses getting there that late on other occasions.

With the resort transportation, there is luggage handling. They begin picking up your luggage from your room at 8 am (just have it inside near the door if you won't be in your room). They'll transport that to the ship and the next time you'll see it is outside your cabin probably some time after muster drill. (May be there earlier, but we've learned not to count on that.)

If you are not in a rush to leave the resort or anxious to board the ship, it's a pretty convenient option. But anyone who has hopes to be among the first on the ship should make other arrangements.

The resort buses to Port Canaveral work pretty well, but if there are more than two or three people it may be more economical to use a car service, and you do have to realize that you won't be getting to the ship early. The good news is that the staterooms are open for occupancy by the time you arrive.

It's been explained a few times now, the OP is on one of the NYC cruises that stops for a day at Port Canaveral and includes admission to WDW. They're asking about the buses that Disney is providing for the ship guests as part of their day at WDW.

Fine, that was noted, and I'm totally aware of how many times the OP's post was explained, but at least one other poster is asking about WDW resorts to Canaveral. That was for them, not the OP.

Thank you for your replies. I take it from the comment about a car service that the transportation to Port Canaveral from WDW isn't free? What's the cost?

edit: I found it. $35 per person. Thanks again for your help. This will be our first trip to WDW and our first Cruise. A lot of balls in the air for a control freak like me. :drive:

for John Todd...as noted, the cruise transfers are not free. The only "free" service is between the WDW resorts and MCO airport.

and I'm assuming the buses the OP is talking about (WDW excursion buses between PC and WDW) are also "free" or at least their cost to ride is included in the excursion price right?

but yea regular, DCL transfers from resorts to port are $35 pp, we like doing DCL transfers but doing them from MCO because I've heard the resort ones can get you to port as late as 2pm

Yes the OP is talking about the cruises from New York that stop at PC for a day. RT transportation and park hopper included as part of the cruise.
