Unless you can get SSR for $40 a point less than a BLT contract.

And on average you cannot right now.
Tom - what would you say is a comparable SSR price? $98-100?

If so, for 150 points, comparing $100 for SSR to $120 BLT, BLT would be $3k more. BLT dues are slightly less by $82 for 2024 which is really negligible. The 11 month window would be helpful for the peak holiday times. After the refurbishment, BLT may get some love from members when booking.

Well after 12 years and 7 trips, starting with booking a 1 BR villa at VGF direct through Disney and then renting reservations, we finally decided to do what we wish we would have done 12 yrs ago.

Asking was $98, we offered $92 but settled on $96.

Now we will look over the next year or so to add a small contract to this.

Also, I want to say that this forum and the members, especially a couple that were very very helpful to us, has been incredible. It's funny how the rabbit hole slowly opens bigger and bigger. I first joined this forum after our second disney trip to find out about restaurants and recommendations and then the hole got bigger. But wow, we've learned so much over that time and I know will continue to learn more.

thank you
I'm with you, I so wish we had bought years ago when we first started taking the kids! But DVC seemed so confusing and I never took the time to really dig in. It has taken months of reading and research, most of it on this board, to really wrap my head around it and feel like I finally understand it and see the benefits. Such a rabbit hole like you said! But I too am grateful for all of the great information here and the kindest of internet strangers!

yes, it's funny how that works.

I remember on trip 1 in 2012. We had rented a condo in Sarasota for 3 days and were doing 3 days at Disney. Then friends told us that 3 days at WDW wasn't enough. So just a few months prior we cancelled Sarasota, and decided to go full on with Disney. We ended up with I think 4 nights in a 1 BR at VGF, 2 nights in a 1 BR at AKL with savannah view. We also added the Deluxe Dining plan. LOL that was sooooo much food and we didn't eat even half of it. we had so much fun we decided to take the in laws and BIL family. We went Thanksgiving week. Only could ride a few rides per day. It was a disaster, my BIL complained about the crowd the entire time. Then I learned about renting reservations so we've been doing that since trip 2. On trip 5 we stayed at Riviera and did the DVC thing to get extra fast passes, we about purchased 200pts direct, but it was March of 2020 and COVID had just begun and we decided to pause and not purchase. Truthfully I'm glad I didn't knowing what I know now. Crazy how it all works but all of you here have really helped us and we're looking forward to the future.

I was thinking $125-130 for BLT and $95-105 for SSR.

This is from what I recall from the deeds being recorded

Do contracts ever pass ROFR on weekends or is it only a weekday thing? Just wondering if there's a chance of hearing anything this weekend or not.

4th overall contract (3rd resale) and our first at CCV (BCV, RIV, AUL). Really excited to pick this one up! Fits one of our 2 existing use years and puts us up to 930 PPY. We were only interested in a Magic Kingdom area resort at this point. We were very much considering new Poly points but went this direction when the working theory was no new association. We also love the peacefulness, without isolation from the parks, this resort has compared to some others. Plan on booking a cabin during December in 2025 with this one!

Aulani Subsidized was on my SAP+ list as well, but I have a feeling those “cheap” dues are going to pass up BLT, CCV, VGF and Poly in the near future.
I have the same feeling when I hold my finger to the wind… history is a very loose indicator of future dues increases, IMO.

SAP priority for me:
1a. Buy where I wouldn’t mind staying
2. At the lowest possible price
3. With the lowest possible dues

1a is irrelevant if you have enough points for 1 bedrooms and/or you don't mind staying at Old Key West and Saratoga.

Most of my points are at Aulani and I own there because I like the 11 month window for Aulani, so I don't really consider those SAP. But assuming I did, they're still perfectly serviceable SAP since there's no issue getting OKW 1BR at 7 months, always.

Yey!

8th contract but definitely my favorite… I just didn’t feel complete without the comfort of knowing I can get a room at BCV. It has definitely put the biggest smile on my face of all of them (sorry other points… I do love you too)
