Rumored Changes to G+

For us, and I feel like we are pretty decent G+ users, it is almost impossible to really get good use of it at Epcot. So in the morning you have to pick one “major attraction” (test track or rat or frozen). And that’s it. Your are going to struggle to get any of those when your next window opens. For any time during the rest of the day. So we never ride rat or frozen bc we always choose test track. Guardians we always pay for the LL so we get that. Epcot was never good for FP and it’s still not good with G+.

With the old fast pass (FP+) at MK there was always more availability than now and you could re-ride. It’s really no contest, at least at MK, how much better FP+ was than G+. We would at least get 6 rides a day but most days probably 8-10. And it wasn’t a struggle most days.
I may not purchase it at Epcot now. Glad for your insight.

I think Genie+ is probably better for people who want to ride the big ticket rides, but we are a family who loves to reride the kid rides over and over as my youngest loves those. In 2020 before everything closed, we rode Teacups 5 times back to back with FP+, dumbo, it’s a small world, Nemo, dinosaur over and over as there was immediate availability. We’d do 15+ FPs in a day easily, especially at MK.

I think that part has to do with the ratio for LL to standby. I wouldn't be surprised if out of every 10 riders 8 are LL. Which would effect standby a lot
I expect whatever the ratio is, it was very similar with FP+. And yes, it affects standby. It has since FP and FP+.

I have ridden more headliners and new rides with ?VQ/Genie+/LL than I was ever able to before with FP+. Remember those 4-6 hour waits when Pandora opened... Frozen/meeting Anna?
Flight of Passage has been averaging a 5 1/2 hour wait this week and I joked to my friends that you could watch both Avatar movies on your phone while on line before you even ride the attraction.

Price for me is secondary. For me it's all about how easy is it to use and how many rides I get out of using it. Value is being able to ride the Mummy 10 times, Men in Black 8 times, the Hulk 7 times and Spiderman 9 times over 2 days with Express pass. You can't do that at Disney. I'm not satisfied with riding an attraction once.
if price is secodary, then VIP tour is the way to go.

I don't want a plaid taking me around the park either. I want it to be like Express pass. Ride things when I want to ride them and not have a CM to take me around
You can ride what you what to when you want it.... . by riding standby. EVERY system WDW has used since 2009 has involved a time window for rides.

The last thing I would want would be paying $200+ a day to skip the lines. Never mind, what works at Universal will not necessarily translate to working at WDW. Universal has two parks and a water park, and only three resorts that get the pass automatically.. WDW has 4 parks, two waterparks and a LOT more resorts and hotel guests. Universal's ride pass is SUPER expensive and often involves waits, especially at high volume times. People complain now about paying $15-35... and now lets jack it up to hundreds?

It will be interesting to see Universal deals with their growth with the Epic expansion and if their skip system will evolve as they get bigger or if their current system will handle it. Sure it is great if I am staying at one of the three resorts that gets it... but otherwise nope, Universal's ride pass is WAY too expensive and still often involves waits.

** I chose 2009 as that is when I started going regularly... I am sure FP paper was in use before then**

"I want it catered to me specifically, not only that, I want to make short lines impossible for everyone else"

The point of making it expensive is it limits the amount of people buying. The issue with Genie+ is too many people have it. Which is why availability runs out so quick.

It’s a tiered system no matter how you slice it. If you have a VIP tour you are in the top tier. That’s why it’s super expensive. The bottom tier are those that don’t want to purchase any kind of skip the line system. And that’s fine. (most people at universal don’t have express pass and it works great). The middle tier should be pricy (but not VIP tour pricy). Minimum $50 per person/per day with up to $200 per person per day (still a lot cheaper than VIP tours) During busier times. That will make the system (even in its crappy current form) work much better. But I think if you get in that price range you can probably get closer to an express pass system.

Absolutely, short lines should be impossible (except during very very slow periods) for people who don’t pay for a shortened line system. It’s a theme park. That’s how it works. That’s how most theme parks work. Either everyone waits a long time or some people don’t. There is no in between.

What I want is what the majority of other parks do. Make it so those who purchase a skip the line pass have lots of availability and short waits. Make it worth my money.
Maybe it's not worth your money and you should just go on stand by. :confused3

EDIT: Actually, I think where you are going wrong is that Genie+ and LLs are NOT a skip-the-line pass. They are "quicker access", nowhere in the website or promotion does it say that either products are for skipping the line. So yeah, Genie+ and LLs are not the product you are looking for.

My option is I just don't go to Disney.

You can do that....they will not interact with you at all and just provide you access to the rides/shows. They don't need to provide a tour of any sorts.

Tom Corless said he's been hearing strong rumors this will go down in a few weeks. 🫣🫣🫣
Ha, we arrive on January 30th for a week. Hadn’t decided whether I was going to use Genie+ much this trip as hate the 7 AM wake up game (which doesn’t always even work). Should be interesting 😬
