Something About Nothing............ #14

I`m wondering if being hungry is a side effect from jet lag :rolleyes1

Yep, woke up hungry again which is unusual as I always get up early but never feel hungry and eat breakfast a couple of hours after I get up....but every day this week I`ve had some toast with my first cup of tea of the day.

Talking of tea, our electric kettle has stopped switching on and off, so will go get a new one today. We do have an old style whistling kettle for the Aga so we won`t be stuck, but we do like the electric one too. So, I`ll pop out this morning and exchange it as it`s only about 5 months old.

Lazy breakfast though, going to make us french toast with bacon as Tom does seem to be feeling a bit better this morning, think his fever has broken, but will leave him home while I go and get a few bits.

Chicken in a honey mustard sauce tonight for us, going to pick up some multi coloured carrots in the farm store today and some mini roast potatoes cooked with onions and red peppers. Lunch will be the snack items again as we have duck spring rolls, onion bhaji`s, samosa`s and some spicy shrimp things.....all go into the oven for about 10 minutes and I`ll make up a spicy dip.

But, time for more tea, doesn`t seem to be as cold this morning, maybe around 48F, not too bad for this time of year.

And Friday again.......

Have a lovely Friday :santa:

Ooh Friday it is. Sigh. DH must be feeling better. We were up at 2:30 this morning. I did get a little more sleep, but long hot shower also helps. Eh, will want to be up at that hour tonight. Yay.

And so, tea for me, and made some oatmeal. We had some fruit, so I like to add it to oatmeal, and even added a little brown sugar too. So sweet and warm breakfast for me, and DH.

Ooh that was a noisy freight train, then the local train right behind it. Two train whistles. Yep, week day routines for most. Including me.

And a hi to Night, welcome back to the SANS thread.

Back to routine I go. Then packing and some errands. Oh my. Glad it’s the shortest, and twice as long lunch break week day routine day.

Wishing all a Most Fabulous Friday, and a Most Wonderful Weekend. You know, two Fridays from now, will be the last one before Christmas. 🤶 ::yes:: :rockband:

Can you adopt me? That all sounds wonderful. There's never anything to eat at my house. Probably having leftover frozen pizza for lunch and who knows what for dinner. I think we might have some oatmeal around here. A real meal would be amazing.

Quick good morning. I just dropped my car at the mechanic’s to get it’s annual inspection. They’re going to work me in around appointments, so I am stuck at home unless B wants to go somewhere.
Today I am giving my house a good cleaning before we leave for TN. I also wrapped most of my Christmas presents.
Yesterday we got a nice Christmas card. It’s a nice family photo - mom, dad, and 2 young children. Merry Christmas from the “Smith” family. I asked dh who they were and he was hoping I would know. The back of the card said, “Thank you for being a wonderful customer.” ???? I finally googled return address and it was from our local Honda dealership. It’s the woman who sold dh his car. I think we have more cards from local businesses than from friends and family.

It's nice to be back home and to get back in the groove, But I really miss Florida!
Glad you and your daughter had a great trip and you got to meet Carole and Tom. I keep missing them.

Hi, everyone. I use to be on here a lot way back years ago, but mainly on the Disney side of things. I recognize a few of you from back then. I didn't realize there was a general chat thread, so Hi!
Welcome back.

We haven't gone recently, but we used to do Pigeon Forge regularly as it was a stopping point between where we live in TN and some family in NC. Your story about the bear reminded me of a VRBO I booked one year that ended up having a snake living in the mattress which we discovered one night when he moved underneath us while in bed!
Dh really loves Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Last year was supposed to be the first time at Dollywood for Christmas, but we got snowed out. We are looking forward to seeing the lights and shows next weekend.

That all sounds so good. I have no idea what I will have for lunch today.

Okay, time to stop procrastinating and start cleaning.

Come on over :wave2:.....our dining room table can just about squeeze in 18 people if we steal the six chairs from the kitchen table, 12 comfortably though. But, all welcome, I love cooking and love cooking fresh food!! No canned carrots in a stir fry in this house....... :rolleyes1

We do keep missing each other don`t we. I think it`s only you and pumpkin of the ladies I still want to meet. I`ve met mac, Janet, Robbie, Vicki and more recently Ruth, some others who don`t post anymore.........always nice to meet up.

We ended up going out for drinks tonight with some friends after dinner, wish we had eaten in the pub restaurant as it was their filet special......but my dinner was lovely, our friends joined us for dinner at our home before we went out which was nice.

Pub was lovely and cosy with the fire burning, we kinda hogged the main table beside it all evening.

Heading to bed soon, watching a Queen documentary before we do though then French Toast and bacon for breakfast, yes, already thinking about breakfast! Least we have a new kettle for the morning.

Have a lovely Friday evening.....:)

If only.

I work crazy hours, so I'm lucky if even carrots from a can make it to the table much less fresh ones. It's one of my goals I want to work on for next year, cooking more from scratch. It's just really hard with my schedule, and also the grocery options (or lack thereof) we have near us. I'm hoping I can get on an earlier schedule, so I can get off earlier, but I'm not holding my breath. Usually what happens if I start earlier is I still get stuck working late anyway, so I just end up with a 12 hour day instead of an 8 hour one and am out the sleep on top of it.

And a very good Saturday morning from a very windy, grey and kinda rainy UK.

Yep, not a day to be out walking for fun. So we plan a day in, try to catch up with some folks by phone or email and order some Christmas presents 🥴 .....I thought I was organised, but I still have a little way to go yet. I forgot to buy some Harry Potter things in Orlando, so will rethink those gifts and get something else. I`ll also write out Christmas cards, I order them from a Hospice near my mum where one of my Uncles`s was looked after till he passed, they arrived while we were away so will get them written today and posted on Monday. I think the stamps will cost more than the cards now!!!

Still a little early for breakfast, but once we`re both showered and dressed I`ll make us French toast, bacon and finish off the maple syrup, I did bring back some new bottles though. Lunch will be a small chicken caesar salad and I made the meat sauce for lasagne yesterday, so that`s dinner tonight, will make the cheese sauce topping later then layer it up and pop it in the oven, will make a small salad to go with it and then an evening of Christmas movies ahead. We have snacks, but lasagne is so filling we might not bother. Food sorted for the day.....priorities ☺️

Cosy snuggling evening ahead though.......

Have a lovely Saturday and weekend :flower3:

I was going to go Sunday to Sunday, I’m glad I didn’t. No fuss, quick enough drive, and no line for pre check. Now the wait. Ah, most likely will sleep soon enough. Line for buying coffee is almost as long as regular line. lol

Super happy Saturday to all.

Happy Saturday. I slept late this morning which was really nice. This afternoon I made the mistake of going to Target. I went in for one $4 item and ended up buying $60 worth of stuff.

We do keep missing each other don`t we.
Next year I am aiming for mid-November. B wants to go for her birthday.

Room view:
Nice!

I have one more room left to clean, but I am procrastinating again.

Will miss you again next year as we`ll go September or maybe late October, haven`t quite decided yet.

Procastrination is good sometimes and yes, I believe it`s impossible to go into a store and come out with one item you went in for.

Been a decent day until the temps changed this afternoon.
We are due some rain now.

Never did do my afternoon errands yet so that will hold for another day.

Errands can wait too....and rain will be good for your lawn!! Always a silver lining......:)

Ended up spending late afternoon and evening at a friends place, they invited us over just after lunch, so off we trotted, I did make up the lasagne and handed it into the farm before we left, they do enjoy it so it didn`t go to waste.

Our friends are the best hosts.....I swear she brought out every kind of snack imaginable till dinner, we did manage to say no at times and she had made a beautiful Thai feast with more dishes than we knew what to do with. There were 8 of us altogether and we did pretty well with all the food they had prepared! No room for desserts though!!

Came home and put Die Hard on.....😍

There is a small chance that dh and I might go for a quick weekend in October, but it will be mid-October when he has fall break. Maybe some day we will both be there at the same time.

Came home and put Die Hard on...
Our local theater is showing it this month. Dh went to see it this afternoon. I think he has the movie on blu-ray, but he wanted to watch it on the big screen.

I am up way too late. I was working on my stitching project and just had to complete a section. Now Caspian is up and wants to play.

You never know, it would be nice to say hello at some point. Our dates are so up in the air right now for next year, but we`re in no rush to decide.

We have a "movie room" that`s not really a movie room, but we have the huge screen in there, it`s not the same as the movies but it`s better. And we don`t have to worry about others bothering us with crunching, slurping, whispering, rustling and generally being annoying!! I am the Grinch at the cinema if there are people around us!!

Hope you got back to sleep.......

Slept like a top last night, it was around 1am when we went to bed and slept till just after 8 this morning, went down and made a pot of tea, brought it back up and we had a cuppa in bed, something we don`t usually do.

But, showered and dressed, ready for breakfast, Tom just wants cereal, so only me for French Toast this morning with some bacon. Won`t need a large lunch so just make a caesar salad and dinner tonight we both fancy a steak so, steak it is.

Bit of housework today and have nudged Tom into uploading our trip pictures, he just hasn`t felt like it up till now, I have some baking to do so that`ll pass our time today....and call my mum!!! Always a long call, then we might get some black and white movies on this afternoon, feel like watching something with Bob Hope...maybe The Ghost Breakers or Cat in the Canary, both classics.

Have a lovely Sunday........:sunny:

And I am up early, and little one is still asleep. Overcast, but so far, the weather app says rain to be only in the evening. We don’t have anything planned for nighttime, but we do have our raincoats and will see if our raincoat like sneakers really do not get wet like a normal sneaker does with enough rain.

Love the decor in the parks so far. And the decor in the hotels.

Super happy Sunday, and hope all are okay and stay safe, and dry, with the rain for many in the Eastern coast area. So very sad to hear of the storm deaths in Tennessee last night, as also include a child.

Where we live, today is going to be a rain Nor’Easter storm, with biggest issue being the wind and then the amount of rain. Saying right now, 40 to 50 mph winds and 2 to 3 inches of rain, with higher amounts more likely.

Good morning all.

It has been raining all morning here and I think we had some thunder earlier today. Looks like the rain will be with us all day. I shouldn’t complain though. It has been very dry here lately.

After church, today will be an exciting day of doing laundry. I need to figure out what to take this weekend. Temps are supposed to have highs in the mid 50s and lows in the low to mid 30s. Thankfully no snow in the forecast.
