Current Magical Beginnings promotion with Direct

Also, you can get the docs drafted and sit on them for weeks before signing to make sure you get the deal and then give yourself extra time to figure out if you want to proceed.
Was planning on starting and finishing the process by the end of next to give myself room with the 10 day cancellation.
What you’re mentioning here however sounds like a much easier way to cancel if deals somehow turn out to be better on the next round of incentives. Seems like less hassle compared to having to send letters and waiting for refunds.
Any deadlines or hard dates on when the draft expires? No deposits required that could be lost if I decide to wait?

If that’s the case it probably matters less that they’re in the same UY as I imagine the BWV points will strictly be used as BWV points. Nobody buys GCV to use anywhere but GCV. Different resort, same concept. I own 2 separate UYs because I couldn’t resist the allure of a sub dues Aulani and it works fine.

I think this my dilemma, am I being pigish wanting 2022 pts to sell back for MB and deal with 2 UY's for MANY years, or do I just do MB on the 2023 pts and keep it simple for myself. At 7 months i can combine pts, but am i getting BWV rooms at 7 months? If i keep my 150 BWV pts for BWV, is 150 enough to enjoy a stay at VGF knowing the heavy pt chart. My god i hate my brain! :-)

I've called Quality Assurance in the past and the reps said I had 30+ days to sign because they know some members need a notary. Pretty easy to drag your feet if need be.

Knowing what I know now, I'd forgo the one year of points and just put them all in the same use year. It just makes it so much easier to combine for the GVs and also makes it so you have all of your points available at once. For example if you have 10 points left in one use year and another 10 in the other you can't combine those for a stay without a transfer, assuming they even line up. I do enjoy playing with my points but it does make for more headaches. Also if there were a BWV room that magically was still available at 7 months, you'd be able to modify and rebook it under the same reservation with your VGF points instead and have one long continuous stay as opposed to booking one of the nights under one UY and the rest with the BWV and then going to the front desk to merge once you arrive at BWV. This also means that since it's not one long continuous stay, you have to wake up multiple times to book all of your dining reservations unless you book a cash stay and then cancel it 60 days out. There are whole bunch of minor inconveniences that aren't that bad by themselves but it does get a little annoying. In the end of course it's up to you and best of luck with whatever you decide!

Edit: one of the few upsides is having additional waitlist requests but that's about it lols

They will charge your card immediately for a deposit even if you're sitting on the docs (they don't wait on the first charge until you've signed, it's the same day as drafting the docs).

My Guide said just to be sure to sign by the end of Sept, so guess that's 30 days from today (or so, didn't sound like a hard stop, but I wouldn't gamble). Really we'll know on the 12th, wouldn't need to wait until the end of Sept on that aspect.

This is our exact same strategy as we placed our deposit today at the VDH.

I straight up told QA I was waiting until 9/12, she said no problem and even noted my contract to stop the reminder emails. Nice gesture but I’m still getting the emails 😂

We bought our first direct contract at VGF earlier this summer because the incentives were too good to pass up. If I buy another contract before they expire, can I get the incentives again? Wondering if they will give me the magical beginnings and welcome home incentive on the 2nd contract? If it makes a difference, this time it would be a CCV contract.

Your guide will be more than happy to sell with the incentives again. Just talking to him/her about and having a trip or cruise planned for this year will qualify you for welcome home (I'm sure he/she would be happy to score another sale).

Edited to add: Later post pointing out the incentives are for actively selling properties, and CCV is "sold-out", so sorry, they won't be offering those incentives for CCV.

I don't think CCV qualifies for the incentives. Just VGF, RIV and AUL

When I talked to my guide a couple of months ago, I thought that he said the "Welcome Home" incentive was a one time thing, but I assume you could get Magical Beginnings again if you bought at least the minimum number of points. But I haven't tried buying any more points after I added some VGF earlier this summer with all these incentives.

I bought VDH in May (no Welcome Home) and June with WH, then VGF late July with all the incentives including "Welcome Home" and am about to add 200 points at DRR. My guide is writing up the contract now to include WH. Now you can add on without worry! 😉

Thanks for the replies. Just spoke to our guide - he confirmed what a few have said. Magical Beginnings is only for resorts in active sales - doesn't count for sold out resorts (unfortunately).

You’re on a roll! I’ve actually priced VDH way too many times for comfort lol

My guide confirmed this as well. He said once per member for Welcome Home. It didn't matter if it was deeded differently, already closed, or even a completely different resort. I inquired about two separate 150 point VGF sales since that works out to less money than a 300 point sale. He said Quality Assurance would flag it and not allow it.

@emchen is also taking advantage of offers via a cruise so IDK if that's different.

You guys may all be right...I may have conflated direct purchases since we made WAY TOO MANY in 2023! I just looked back at my spreadsheet and see that we did not get WH on either of our two VDH purchases. Only VGF contract had it and DRR is not yet completed and has not gone through QA.

Should I be worried about getting all mixed up? Is this a sign of add-on-itis guys? No need for a blood test right? 😉

It could be special with the cruise! DLH does not have Welcome Home listed on it's DVC Explorer page so VGF would have been your first opportunity: https://dvcexplorer.com/fin/m/VillasAtDisneyland_Member_DeveloperCredit.pdf

It's just nice to hear what all the other guides say to see what's possible. It's great to be informed so we all know what to ask for.

I apologize if this has already been asked, but I don't have time to read through 31 pages of this thread and searching wasn't much help...

For anyone who's received the MB credit / rebate, what's the timeline? I know it says a check will come "after closing" but how long after closing?

And I guess additional question - if you're making split payments (down payment - 30 days - 60 days), does it not close until after that final 60 day payment? Such that you wouldn't get the MB credit / rebate for maybe 4-5 months after you place your down payment?

Hope I'm being clear as mud 🙃

On paper it says the rebate check could take up to four weeks after closing, but people have been reporting receiving it much sooner than that.

Yes, if you take 60 or 90 days for payment you will not close until you make the final payment and then it's up to four weeks after that.

We've never stayed at RIV, just rode the skyliner over to see it and it was very good looking, but VGF is great for being able to take the boat or monorail or walk to MK. Loved getting out of MK late at night and taking a quiet boat ride to our dock. It was so easy!

Probably can't go wrong with either, but we're definitely going VGF.
Every single visit we split stay for this reason.
VGF is great for the reasons you mentioned, but we always do a MK property and an Epcot/HS property to maximize convenience to all three.

That’s why we originally bought at both Riv and CCV. And you get the pricing for your entire purchase, not per contract.
