Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Adventures:

Several years ago (gosh, maybe 10??) DH, DS, and I did a ropes course up in New Hampshire. It was tough, but I felt so strong and confident after!

A recent surprise trip to see my Dad. Just DS and I this time (which was the adventurous part, because DH is usually the coordinator of all things flight, rental car, etc., but couldn't get away). We managed well and had such a good time!

Mini-adventures with kids - mornings at the beach, day trips into Boston... One summer when DS was little, we made a goal of visiting the playgrounds in all the neighboring towns, and few years ago, I did the same with libraries with my friends' twins.

Good Thursday Morning!

#1 - I’m so so so grateful for our upcoming Girl’s Trip Adventure to WDW - this is our first time doing this and it’s going to be a blast!

#2 - I’m grateful for all our past travel softball adventures - we went to a lot of places that we never would have gone to if it wasn’t for softball.

#3 - I’m grateful for all the past adventures I did with my girls and their friends during summer break - museum days, downtown Chicago days, beach days, zoo days and more - seems like yesterday.

Climbing Dunn River Falls in Jamaica ❤️ so proud I did it - well really the gentleman in our group hauled me up it at each rock bless him but I got there !! Such a wonderful memory as I did this after my car accident !
All my wonderful WDW vacations - of course there were disasters - but those make memories you look back on and shake your head and laugh - and yes we had some doozies - one child left behind an expensive item of mine that they had borrowed - unknown to me - said chikd contacted WDW after we got home and located item and had it shipped home - child was like 12 - told me years later 🤣🤣

Biggest planning Adventure - month long vacation - few days at WDW - TA cruise - Norway cruise - few days in London - few days in WDW - home ! Lasted 30 days ! Awesome cruises ! TA one if my most favorite cruises ever even thou we had horrible storm for 4 days - most of ship & crew sick ! Captain stated we sailed the High Seas!! I loved this cruise ! One of the reasons I sail Disney I always felt safe and well taken care of !! Way too much to do ❤️

Bonus - those horrible road trips my farther would do half across country nonstop to go visit family - 29 hrs no stopping overnight in car 😳 he did all the driving ! Ruined me on road trips ! Did enjoy visiting and touring once we arrived - that was awesome - dreaded the drive back home ! Another 29 hrs nonstop drive ! Luckily only did it 3 times in my life !

Canoeing the Everglades

Tanzania trip - lived with a friend and his family for a few weeks so we did a lot of local things. So eye opening. One of his relatives worked for the UN and got us into the viewing booth to witness some of the Rwandan genocide trials.

Making it to the rim of Mt. St. Helen's (walked like a cowboy for many days after) and to Camp Muir, the base camp from.which climbers summit Mt. Rainier.

Bonus answer: using laundry machines in other countries. Now THAT'S an adventure! 😄 Met a lot of nice, fellow travellers that way, which often led to other adventures.

Adventures…

1. The wonderful adventure of retiring early to care for our 1st grand baby while her mama and daddy go to work! Loving all the joys she brings to our days! 💖
2. All the random road trips hubby and I go on…always finding unexpected delights!
3. The three years we moved out of state with our girls…trying something new, but eventually returning back home.

Bonus…Life, the biggest adventure of all…never know where it will take me…but I sure enjoy the ride!

Beautiful picture and story, Allison Joy  Thank you for sharing with us!

Each day is a gift of adventure, a new opportunity to spread faith and kind cheer. Of course, cherish family and friends, too :)

Dad and I so enjoyed back in 2007 and 2008 trips we took to Oregon and Washington State.

God willing, adventures of local outings to come especially going back to church in person.

Extra answer the adventure God willing of one day when Covid is also more settled to get to meet some of you in this very kind thread. :)

Grateful for these adventures

1. Exploring Italy together as a family. We took a tour, then stayed with relatives. So amazing!

2. Going to California and enjoying Disney Land and exploring Huntington Beach and Coronado Beach.

3. Going on adventures down the the shore when I was a teenager with my friends - and yes we are still the best of friends 😊

Adventures:
1. Dd wanted to do a zip lining course with friends for her 16th birthday. Her younger sisters were old enough to participate
so the whole family went plus her friends. I wasn’t sure I was going to actually zip line, but decided to try it. It was a bit out of my wheelhouse, but it was fun and I’m glad I did it.
2. DH was sent to England to work for a month when oldest DD was 6 weeks old. I wasn’t working and felt terrible about him missing those early weeks so decided we would go along. He worked almost every day and very long hours. For the first few days I just stayed in the hotel room, but at some point decided to venture out. The hotel was in a fairly rural area and I had to take a bus into town where I could catch other buses to go places. I was a nervous wreck, but quickly realized she loved being in the carrier I wore and was less fussy when we were out and about. I explored little towns, toured a castle and the grounds and some days just walked around a mall in the town. She was fine, I was fine and everything worked out. DH had 1 1/2 days off at the end and we took a train to London and did a few touristy things and then had another 1/2 day that we toured a castle in another area.
3. Similarly DH went to work in Boston for a year when DD was 2. He was going to have an apartment and I again decided we should just go along. One of my favorite years. We didn’t really know anyone, but DD always liked to be going somewhere and I got a book about things to do in Boston with kids and we did them. We did parks, playgrounds, beaches, museums, mommy and me classes, holiday activities and just swimming in the apartment complexes pool where we met a whole bunch of new people that ranged in age from high school to 80+. All had different stories about what led them to renting an apartment in the building we were in and it was fun and interesting to hear them. I got pregnant with middle DD while we were there and had most of my prenatal care in Boston which was another adventure. If I were given the chance to live a year over that one would be it.

Adventures

1. Any trip with DH, even the not so great ones. We say we did life inreverse and did so much traveling in our first 18 years together and then had EK.
2. The out of the box trips in the Philippines when my parents were young and adventurous (they are NOT now!). We went on bamboo rafts under giant waterfalls, explored Corregidor, rode in jeepneys, went to 1000 Islands and Baggio, festivals in Manila.
3. Two weeks in NV and AZ with DH and teenage DSS years ago. Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Las Vegas (even did the ACM Awards during the Dixie Chick's and Toby Keith feud- saw the FUTK shirt live). One of the most fun excursions and glad we got to share with DSS. Long story short, we had full custody, lived in NC, and he had no contact with his mother. We facilitated a visit for him that trip in AZ and it helped them reconcile into at least a cordial relationship.

TGIF DIS Friends! :cool1:

I narrowing it down to this June……

#1 - I’m grateful for my WDW Girls Trip - leaving on Tuesday. I’m so blessed to be able to do this. It may seem like nothing to some, but for me it’s a lot to be grateful for - I have a little second job, that I’m lucky to have, that funded this trip, and I have an awesome DD19 that enjoys being with me as much as I enjoy being with her - she’s my best friend and we‘re going to have so much fun!

#2 - I’m grateful for my 28th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow. We’ve been together since we’ve been 16yrs old (35 years), but knew each other longer than that - we’ve literally grown up together. We’ve been blessed with many good times and have been blessed with resilience to get through the tough times. I’m looking forward to many more years to come.

#3 - I’m grateful for Father’s Day - my Dad and FIL are still with us and healthy, which is a blessing. I look forward to spending the day with them.

Congratulations on all three of these things!!!! What a wonderful month is in store for you.

I missed yesterday, so 3 adventures:

1. When I first discovered airline points, we had a trip planned to Branson over Veteran's Day Weekend when the kids were off school, but ended up going to NYC since we could fly there for free. It was such a fun trip.

2. When our girls studied abroad we visited each of them in their respective places. They were both in the same year (one in spring semester and one in fall semester), but we were able to do it (again with points lol). So glad we were able to do that!

3. Someone mentioned ziplining - I will have to add that as my third. It was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I'm glad I did it. We were not in a great place to do it, so there was a lot of climbing involved. I was very glad when it was over, but still glad I did it!

Today - 3 things about June:

1. It's often when our summer vacation begins each year. We usually go the last week of June/first week of July, so it's fun anticipating our summer vacation!

2. To me, the first official month of summer - even though my life doesn't revolve around the kids' school schedule any longer, it still seems like the beginning of summer and fun activities!

3. This year, I have an aunt who is celebrating her 90th birthday! Looking forward to that celebration. She lives in the same town I do, so I see her pretty often, but I have quite a few cousins who are coming back to the area for her party, so it will be fun to see them!
