I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

I’m not convinced that my trip to Nova Scotia is going to happen.
About two months ago, they changed my flight and mysteriously dropped one of the legs. So I made it to Toronto from Halifax but they dropped getting me back to Ohio! Called and they fixed it.

Just just got another email my flight changed and again they dropped a leg. Originally it was CMH -> YYZ (Toronto) -> YHZ (Halifax). Now there are no options for CMH->YYZ. Like no flights at all.

It looks like my option now is to fly to EWR and then to YHZ. I‘ve never flown there so don’t know the terminals. My options are a 1.5 hr layover or a 3 hr layover. It is saying I have to change terminals so I probably need the 3 hr layover. Would you chance the 1.5 hour connection?

$414 each? wow, I would fly, you can fly British Airways for about 10K miles.

Wow - when are you looking to travel? don't think I have ever paid more than $150 for the eurostar, and usually closer to $100. Or are you looking at business class?

Oh, sorry. That is $414 total for me and my dd. Standard Class. 172 pounds each, which turns into about $414. The problem is that it is a weekend and we prefer morning to late evening. I was hoping for mid-morning but we will do early based on the price.

BA is 22,500 miles each and then $65 in fees, so not really a savings. Plus the times are not great. There are some economy airlines that are flying for less but then we would have to pay for our carry-ons and then it is not much cheaper. I think I just have to suck it up.

I think I know the answer, but confirming with the experts . . . if I'm an AU on my P2's AMEX Platinum (I've got the no-fee Gold card), and P2 has added an AMEX offer to his Platinum card, me using my AU Gold card won't trigger the offer, will it?

So YouTubeTV posted on my AMEX BBP as "Google Services," instead of "YouTubeTV," so I'm assuming it's not going to trigger the $20 AMEX offer. Has this happened to anyone else? It always posted as "YouTubeTV" when I paid it with my Chase card. Would a chat with AMEX do any good?

If you look at the detail it should say "on your statement as" and then say something about YouTube TV. I did the same thing for YouTube Premium and it said Goggle Services but the credit posted a few days later.

Mine did too but I got the email. I expect the credit to show up in a few days.

I got my $20 YouTube credit from Amex. Mine was posted as “Google services - YouTube tv.

This is with the Blue Cash Everyday card.

The 60k MR bonus for the AMEX business checking account posted for me and DW. From the time we fulfilled the requirements to the points posting was around 2 1/2 weeks.
Are you planning to close that account? When? I'm still working the requirements and won't be able to close for at least another 2 months, but I'm thinking ahead.

I transferred the $5k out but I'll keep the account for now. From what I've seen there's no minimum to keep the account free but I'll check into it again just to be sure. For DW it will be her only MR generating account after I close per Gold and Plat so she'll definitely keep it until I can get her the BBP.

Where do I go to learn more about an Amex platinum? My husband just got one (provided through work) and I know nothing about it. I read about offers on here though so hopefully he gets some of these.

Wasn't expecting to get the Hyatt free night cert from meeting the 5 brands so quick. Checked out yesterday and got it today. Was able to have my booking in 2.5 weeks in Tempe changed to use it and get the 15k points back. Maybe not the best use but with it expiring feb 27 next year I have no idea if I'd even use it. My annual expires in May each year and I've been using it after Feb so don't even know where/how I'd use them together.

I need to pay the balance on 3 rooms for an upcoming cruise. My citi Costco gets 3x on travel and CSP gets 2x. Which card do I use? Costco is cash back, but I don't really understand how that stacks up to UR yet. I do also think the CSP has better travel protection. TIA!

I think that's a good idea. I've lost three from hesitation. Won't let it happen again.

A simple valuation is CSP is 1 for 1 cash, but 1 to 1.25 for Chase portal.

However, getting more complex, I get about 2.4 when I transfer to Hyatt, but this will depend on the cost of the room.

I don't use my Citi for much other than showing at the door to get in now that they don't do the extra 2 year warranty. I can always find another card that does a better job.

So, it's a choice that's individual. I've never cashed out UR's for cash, but that's all I ever do with the Costco points.

I would take 2xUR all day. I generally transfer UR to either SW or Hyatt, SW is pretty fixed at 1.6 cents per point and I've gotten Hyatt redemptions as high as 3.2. It's also partly psychological to me, I don't feel nearly as bad booking travel on points as I do using real money.

Chase has rolled out PYB to the Southwest cards - not a good redemption option, unfortunately.

For this rollout there are 2 categories, AF and Dining. Both are worse CPP than using the points for flights. AF is 1 cpp and dining charges are 0.8 cpp. I'd only look at it if you were trying to leave the ecosystem and were going to abandon points in the process (they don't expire so you could always change your mind.) Or possibly offsetting the AF, that's not too terrible value wise, if points are an easier spend than cash for you.

But with Aeroplan and now Southwest, seems like there may be a plan to roll out to more co-brands. Keep an eye out for something more interesting!
