We have stayed at both the Ritz and the Berkeley through Amex FHR. Both had rooms that fit 3 adults with no issues. Both were quite a bit less than what you are willing to pay (but of course could be a lot more now). The Ritz is the Ritz, and it was a fun stay on a special trip for DD. The Berkeley was more modern, the room was huge for Europe, and their rooftop pool is really something special. We spent some time up there in the evenings (they have a retractable roof, so it's nice there even if it's cold out). FHR gave us some credit plus a free breakfast. Ritz said it was only for 2 and it had to be room service, but it fed all 3 of us. The Berkeley didn't care and said that it applied to all 3 of us and they told us to order whatever we wanted from the menu. Hope this helps.

Both are close to Hyde Park Corner and that was the location I was looking for. The Berkeley was a pleasant surprise when the Ritz cost more than I wanted to spend for the dates we needed.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Was it The Ritz London or the London Edition Ritz Carlton? The hotel prices in London have me :scared1:. I'll look at your options for 2 rooms at these and just keep telling myself that this is probably the last big trip that will be just the 6 of us. Has anyone had trouble trying to book anything but a standard room through the Amex Travel portal? I tried to book a King Family room at the Hilton Canopy but it returned an error and the charge went pending for a few days before falling off. I'd like the $200 credit plus the benefits.

After a couple months of looking at all the different cards, researching strategies, crunching numbers and making a plan of how I can earn enough points for a CP next year, I finally applied and was approved for the SW performance business card yesterday. I don’t have any big expenses coming up that I know of, but I think if I just put all my normal spend on there over the next 3 months, I’ll be able to hit the $5k with no problem. It was a big step for me with that $199 AF, but I think it’ll pay for itself. I plan on purchasing MEM to MCO SWA tickets on the next release date this week for my May trip, so I SM’d Chase and requested expedited shipping. They replied almost immediately and said I should have my card in 2-3 business days so hopefully it arrives on time. I should have applied last week, but time got away from me. I know I have to be careful and watch my spending so I don’t hit the MSR before January.

I’m just kind of confused on my CP date. If I was approved on 10/22/22, I assume I have to meet the spend by 01/22/23 for the 80k RR SUB points. I was told before to be careful with my spend so I don’t mess up my CP dates and credit to 2022 and not 2023, but I’m not sure what that meant exactly. Can anyone clarify this for me? I don’t want to make a mistake and screw this up! Also, after researching on the best way to earn the CP, it was recommended to wait and apply 30 days after applying for the SWA performance business card for the SWA Priority Card for the 50k SUB. Is that still accurate? If there is anything else I need to know, I’m all ears !!
A user on r/churning puts together all the ways to fail getting a Southwest CP each year. There are a number of things to watch out for. A big one being that Chase doesn't count refunds in the MSR when automatically posting the bonus points. So if you buy something during MSR and return it, don't count the credit as a minus in your MSR calculations. Many people have been burned by that. Here is this year's compilation start and FAQ:

Thank you for the I bond tip. I just wish it could be more than 10k!

Sheree

You can buy another 10k in I bonds now and lock in the 9%+ rate and then redeem the gift in January 2023. Because you are limited to 10k a year, it's a way to lock in that great rate and have it there when the calendar rolls over in just a few short months. Not sure if you can gift to yourself or if you need a P2. DoC has info on gifting if needed.

yes, they said I could add it to points stay.
they also said if my kid is over 12 it's 75$ per day(for occupancy) But here's the link for the meal package https://andazpuravida.com/all-inclusive-meal-package/
im also going to add the transportation etc I asked them how late can I do it so I can sit on the decision (and wait for others to chime in) I figure for 4 days this would be easiest to do this pay for the private car for ~150 each way and do 2 tours should be enough no? maybe not. But im way more stoked about this then punta after reading mixed reviews.
the tours are here https://andazpuravida.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/202210-Explorers.pdf
I think $375 per day is too much for us. I'm totally a foodie but don't think we'd eat/drink that much. For the transfer I'm looking into other options, I have info on a private guide plus there are transfers available on the Chase portal to book.
You know, now that you say that, I think that’s what I remember someone telling me before that had me so confused. It was about the statement closing date, not the calendar date like I was thinking. Either way, I’m not going to press my luck and I’m not charging the final spend requirement until after January.
If your December statement closes 12/15, anything after that would be on the next statement which would close 1/15 and those points post in the new year.

Oh wow. I haven’t even thought of that, but it makes sense. Thanks for the tip and the link. That’s very helpful. I will have to keep all my Amazon purchases on my Amazon visa just to be on the safe side because I return like crazy sometimes there! 🤪

Thank you. I really should know that just from using all of my other credit cards. I don’t know why this SWA card has me so nervous.. I guess because it’s a lot at stake and one screw up would cost me big time!! I’m so thankful for the Dis and everyone that helps everyone succeed!!

Interesting. I was in my Southwest app and it says I am pre-approved for a SW card. I was 5/24 until literally today. It’s 50k miles for only 1k spend. I don’t think I want to go back to 5/24 for SW but found it interesting that they have preapprovals. P2 doesn’t have it when I log in to his account but dd does. It seems like a pretty darn good offer for such a low spend. If only it wouldn’t put me at 5/24. I’d rather yet for a new ink in a month or two than SW.

I'm still trying to decide between the Sapphire preferred and reserve. The reserve will pay for itself next year as I'll be flying once a week for 16 weeks and using Lyft during those trips. However, I have no idea if it will continue to pay for itself after that. I'm graduating from law school in 2024 so I really don't know what life holds past school. Are the points transferable from reserve to preferred if I decide to drop one and get the other?

Yes the points stay with the card so if you get the CSR and after a year product change to the CSP the points stay

Dps on r/churning show you were actually under 5/24 oct 1 vs the day you get the card.

You can't drop one and get the other as Chase limits the bonus on any Sapphire card to once every 48 months. You can also only hold 1 Sapphire card at a time. What you can do is product change one card to the other after 1 year, ie CSR to CSP. You won't get the bonus for changing to the second card, but the points you already accrued stay with the account and you get all the other benefits of the second card.

Would the SW app actually have any idea of a 5/24 status? P2 and ds are both under 5/24 and they do not have the preapprovals.

Don't know. But not everyone gets those. I never have credit card offers from chase only bank account and mortgage. I've long given up on green and black star offers people have posted about.

But it also seems like there's no benefit to them to provide this offer if you can't get it. They want your swipes and potential interest.

Yeah I have never had a star offer either. That’s partly why this surprised me so much, since it’s in SW and not Chase app.

Still going to be linked and come from chase if it's really preapproved. SW doesn't have say in who gets a card in that way. They know your rr number.
