What are your favourite but long to prepare meals?

I
Pierogies my grandmas recipe. Best things on earth.
I love pierogies. It used to be very difficult to find them in Wales (and Krakow is too far to travel for supper) but there is now a little place that only sells pierogies in Cardiff indoor market. Does anywhere sell a version of them at WDW?

I love sweet and sour chicken, but it is a mess to make and takes a bit of time to do. The time and effort it takes stops me from making it sometimes, but I usually give in and make it. It tastes fantastic.

Lasagna
Enchiladas
Pot Roast (not a difficult recipe but takes a few hours)
Thanksgiving dinner in general

Lasagna. I have an authentic family recipe, worth every minute and every calorie. But, it's a pain to make!

I don't consider stew or pot roast to take a long time, because I throw them in the crockpot after the initial prep. They cook for a long time, but the prep is fairly short. Ditto for my homemade bolognese.

Thanksgiving is a production, but I consider it a labor of love. The homemade gravy is always a killer. I do sides in the crockpot, as much as possible. Our attempt at homemade cranberry sauce last year was a bust, so I'm off the hook there.

My wife makes pho and to get the most flavour out of the broth you need to cook it for as long as possible. Sometimes she'll start it the night before, but often it's first thing in the morning.

If I do a holiday roast (usually a rib roast or a giant Mennonite chicken) it always looks like I'm prepping all day but in reality I spread the prep work out throughout the day so it's 5-10 minutes here and there.

Apple pie with a homemade crust. Also blueberry pie, but not having to peel the fruit there is a significant time savings.

And Thanksgiving dinner - that is easily 3 days of prep and cooking, not to mention the planning & shopping. We always go way overboard, but I love all the dishes, I just can't eliminate any.

Thanksgiving dinner is one big pain. Turkey is quite easy but a pain in the neck due to size and cumbersome weight. I find cutting and then clean up a pain.

And yes, I love the meal but exhausted when done. We got smart about 5 years ago and go to Thanksgiving dinner at Seasons 52. Soooo good. No work. Worth every single penny.
