***Official DLR September & October 2022 Check-in Thread***

Candy Cane is taking forever, I feel bad for all the people that have had to reschedule at the last minute.
We are booked there September 23-30th, wondering what to do and when or if we will need a back up! I see there were some July reservations that have been cancelled so wondering if September will be as well.

We will be flying over from Australia and staying DVC, 23rd - 27th September.
it will be our second trip this year (we just got home last week) I can’t wait to see Disneyland in its Halloween Decorations 🎃 and OBB party

I would deff get a back up hotel and book a refundable rate now. Prices are creeping up..

Yeah thinking that would be a great idea!

Ditto. Book multiple refundable rooms if you need to. Prices are crazy now and so many places are full already.

Once the dates for OBB are announced I have feeling rooms will go quick!

We are a family of 6 going from Sept 23-30. This is our first year doing 1 park per day instead of hoppers. We are opting to do that and getting Genie+ instead of hoppers and no genie+ to save some money. I’m hoping it works out okay and we won’t be disappointed. We are not planning to do an OBB party so I’m hoping to avoid those days at DCA so we can see the nighttime entertainment. But, then I heard that it’s not as busy at that park on party days. It’s so hard having to choose so far in advance what to do. I hate these reservations and I really wish we had Maxpass.

We originally planned to do DL in the fall of 2020, but instead ended up at WDW because of cheap airfare and hotels. The last time we were at DL was 2018, so I’m really excited to see all the changes.

We too are giving up the hoppers this time and will be booking Disneyland on DCA party days. We do plan to do OBB, though.

If it helps the more I learn about genie+ the more is very similar to maxpass just without the re-ride. We plan to use rope drop to our best ability for non genie+ rides. I too am a bit nervous about non hoppers and crowds pushing to Disneyland /DCa on non party days, but I've decided to let that go and just plan and set priorities.

Yay I love this. I’m Andrea. We are in Provo, UT and I’m an nurse. I own a home Medspa doing Botox injections and chemical peels which I LOVE!! I have 5 kids DS14, DS12, DS10, DD8, DD6. I am a HUGE Disney fan (movies, parks, musicals, TV series, toys (right now we are into Nuimos), you name it).

We started going to DL once a year in 2012 and loved it enough to buy VGC points. In 2019 and 2020 we took a break from DL and did WDW for the 1st time. We actually lived in Florida for a month to really enjoy our passes- it was such a fun experience.

Our last trip was DL last October for Ophir Boogie Bash. We only did the party last year but this year we’re ready to add a few days into a party. Although I feel like it’s a whole new ball game with reservations, no MaxPass 😭😭, and Genie. I’m going to need to read a whole lot on here to get caught up on all the best tips. I love Provo! It was my hometown growing up!

My husband and I are driving down and will be at Disneyland from Sept 8-11th for the expo! I've never attended one before, should be fun. If anyone in here has gone before, did you find there was still time to make park tickets worth it if you had to pay full price (no APs here) or should we not bother..?

We are checking into The Castle Inn and Suites September 11th-16th.
Myself (Tony) and my wife Lynn
Many WDW trips with our kids and solo, our 1st trip to Disneyland.
Our kids are grown now, so this is both nostalgia and just plain fun for us!
We are visiting Temecula for 2 days, then arriving at our Anaheim Hotel Sunday night.
5 days in the parks.
Many have told us 5 days is overkill at DL, but we'll take a slow burn approach.
Taking in all of the shows sights and rides at a relaxed pace.
Planning DL is definitely different than WDW.
Looks like I schedule park reservations for our trip this week, and have to do so on a daily basis as opposed to WDW where you can schedule your whole reservation based on your arrival date.
Restaurant reservations at 60 days. On a daily basis as well.
(Any tips for insuring prized reservations appreciated)

Welcome! We to always do 5 days.. and in fact this October trip we are planning is 5 park days and a separate Halloween party day.

You are correct about the 1 day at a time.

The best advice for dinning is to start checking early in the morning, keep checking, don't get discouraged because they drop late a lot, and if you don't get it, just keep checking back.. especially about 24 hours later and 24 hours before your trip.. people drop things constantly.

Do they only run Disneyland Forever on the weekends?
We were not planning on a park Sunday, as we will be arriving late in the day and had planned on checking out Downtown Disney that night.
Is it worth adding a day (Sunday Night) to catch that show?
I see a possibility of an Oogie Boogie Bash that week.
That is on our radar as well!

Disneyland forever will probably not be playing..

No one knows for sure, but Disney will probably switch the Halloween screams fireworks..

That being said- fireworks only on the weekends is very highly possible. They do seem to run the show without the fireworks - just projections during the week.

Very helpful.
Thanks so much for your reply!

Welcome! I'm with you on having to choose so much in advance. It's funny because I am a planner but I do so more for structure around the trip. I still prefer to be flexible and live in the moment in terms of actual park and food decisions. It's been 9 years since we were last at DL so I'm excited for the changes too.

Jealous you are going to the Expo, I'm sure it will be a blast! I've never been...maybe someday. Somewhere on this forum I saw a thread specific to the Expo so I'm sure they could better answer your specific questions about that part of your trip.

Completely disagree with this! I love our long trips. We like the option of going on rides multiple times without the pressure of a time crunch. I really think my daughter would be content with doing nothing but Big Thunder Mountain Railroad all day. lol

Plus think of allllll the food you get to try over 5 days!!

So I just need to get it outta the way that I am a little over the top. Okay? And I really really enjoy making clothes for our trips. I sew and heat press my heart out!

So today I made myself a Halloween outfit to match my new bag and made my daughters Marvel outfit!738B4B59-051A-4906-85E8-2C9692F3C1FE.jpegB09489E8-602C-4FE1-B4DC-8DDCAEC509D8.jpeg

Now that Spring vaca is done.

On to Fall and Disneyland!

September 17th - Disneyland hotel
September 18th - 25th - GCV

No, five days is NOT too much. I don't want to spend my time rushing to get in all I want to do.
