Please refresh my memory....if I want to "erase" a charge on CSP, I simply use that specific amount of points for a statement credit, correct? So a charge of 120.00 = 12,000 points straight up? Is the redemption rate for this the same on CSR as CSP? thanks....
You are correct about how this works. The redemption rate is the same unless there's a PYB category involved.
Oh....has anyone successfully use the TC on CSR to purchase a theme park (not Disney) ticket? like Hershey Park or Sesame Place etc from the front gates?
It looks like UT has Sesame Place tickets. That should work for TC.

I requested that DH’s new CIC be expedited, how does that normally arrive? UPS? I’m hoping it arrives today, I submitted the request on Thursday.

@mom2connorandcaleb Let us know how your CSP application goes! And since you have so much spend, once you or DW/DH have the CSP, you can create a support link for the other to get the CSP, and they can get the same bonus.
I got approved right away. I’m going to call this morning to try to get it expedited. How do you create a support link?

I'm in the same boat with young companions. Hubby and I both have CPs for 22-23 thanks to the SW card offer from fall 2021. I really don't want any of my eight year olds being expected to board alone.

That said, I didn't think anyone could switch spots. I was under the impression that the direction you'd get would be for the higher person to board with the lower seat position, essentially wiping out your EBCI benefit.

Hubby is doing a *ton* of international travel for with this year and he's hoping SW will match his AA status level (they've offered it through his company). If that happens, I guess I'm buying EBCI specifically for the CP so that she doesn't end up at the back of the pack
It's actually illegal to switch boarding passes and board in another's position. Whether the gate agent would catch it or care is a different conversation. The correct thing would be to board at the later boarding position, or spend the money and buy up to the A1-A15 spots.

I do not doubt these data points. However, when I called SW a couple of months ago about EBCI for my early April trip, I was told I had to buy it for both myself and my Companion. So maybe the official company line is "you have to buy it," but in reality you do not?? I also often save 1 or 2 seats in the same row. I usually go a little further back just so less people will even attempt to sit with me.
CP boarding with only one EBCI is not an official benefit. SW tweaked the code last July to do this but it's not an official policy. Here is the long FlyerTalk thread talking about it. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/southwest-airlines-rapid-rewards/2045613-early-bird-companion.html
I know some people frown upon it Southwest has no policy against saving seats. When my son was younger one of us we would get earlybird and board first and save three seats. Yes it can be difficult if you have five or six or seven people in a family But with three I never had anyone comment about saving a row of three. I did ask about DS boarding alone one time when he was eight and they said to just have him board with a parent he doesn’t need to board alone.
I'm one of those that frowns upon it. SW has no policy that allows you to save seats either, unless you buy a second seat and they give you a card to do so. If you try to save seats and someone sits there the FAs aren't going to make them move because you had the seats saved. Most people will decide it's not worth the battle, but it only takes one who decides it is.

"I'm one of those that frowns upon it. SW has no policy that allows you to save seats either,"

That may be true but since my luggage and I are in the seats they’d have to move me. I’d rather that than separate families and leave small kids alone. We’ve split up as long as one of us is with the kid. I won’t save seats to be with DH but DS is not sitting alone.

Applied for CSP yesterday with instant approval, CSR went pending this morning. Is it the reconsideration line I call or something else to try and get it approved today?
I called reconsideration and she said my application had to go to a lender for manual review so I am pretty sure It will be a denial, hoping that is all that happens since I have quite a few Chase cards.

thanks!

I was just at Staples to get VGC's and noticed that they now have a sign out that they do TSA Pre-Check there. I have never seen it before so it must be something new. If you don't have a pre-check place around locally or it's booked, maybe call your Staples and see if they are participating. No idea if it will be all stores or just some. We only have 2 Staples in a town of about 300K.

Hi Credit Card GURUs!

Bottom Line Up Front: Looking to get the best promo on the Chase Southwest Priority Card (mainly for the free A-list upgrades, but the perks will make up the $0-149 annual fee for me...I'm active duty military, so Chase might offer the card with no annual fee for my service). Is there anything better than 40,000 miles right now?

My Cards (last 24 months that I can remember):
09/20 - CITI BestBuy Credit Card (great offer for our TV :) )
10/20 - PenFed Credit Card (spouse as well)
10/21 - AMEX Hilton Aspire
04/22 - CHASE Sapphire Reserve (spouse as well)

2) Secondly we'll want to know a little bit about you. Specifically - what you spend, and what you want to earn!
  • What amount of spend would you put on a card monthly (i.e. groceries, gas, insurance, cable, cell phone, other expenses)?
    • Minimum to get the bonus, and then probably just Southwest purchases unless I was angling for extra points.
  • Do you currently payoff your CCs in full every month or do you carry any balances/pay any interest?
    • Yes
  • What airport(s) do you typically fly out of?
    • DCA, but will be moving over to SMF, OAK, and SFO this summer
  • Do you have a preference of Frequent Flyer program?
    • Southwest, Delta, American, United...in that order
  • Does SOUTHWEST Airline service your airport?
    • Yes
  • Do you have a Hotel Rewards program preference?
    • Hilton, Marriott, IHG...in that order
  • Do you currently have travel points or miles in any program? (if so, which programs and how much)
    • Yes, various amount in each of those.
  • What at your specific goals for churning credit cards? (i.e. Disney World Trip, Cruise, European Trip, Cash Back to pay-off a mortgage or student loans, etc. - you can have multiple goals too!)
    • Perks, and Points for future travel (CSR will likely be my go-to going forward)
  • When do you plan to take these trips? (Keep in mind that it can be difficult to earn points/miles to cover imminent travel...it's best to plan far in advance, especially with regards to international travel)
    • No clue :)
  • Who does your travel party consist of? (Spouse, Kids (& ages), other relatives/friends)
    • Spouse, and 3 little kiddos (4th on the way!!)

Cheers and Thanks!
Dom
