Budget..... I'm in shock right now... (rant of an old person here)

That must be resale. I think they charge the same for playoff tickets s they do regular ones, if you have season tickets. My BIL has Red Sox season tickets--he's planning to invite DH to a playoff game as a birthday present. We already have a shadow box from Game 2 (I think) of the World Series that the Red Sox won a few years back. I call it "Two Idiots at Fenway", but it's my husband's pride and joy.
Not sure. But the point is, people are willing to pay it.

We don’t do park hoppers since they are too pricey, but Disney’s one day tickets are the same price as Universal’s or Busch Garden’s, so not sure why WDW would have lower prices then other theme parks.
I just bought a one day BG Tampa ticket for my cousin. It was $90
I just bought a one day one park ticket for my niece to Magic Kingdom. It was $140

They are not the same. These were both bought in September and October

Depends when you go WDW has $109 tickets on their website for September Plus we always buy multi dats which are cheaper and purchase from ****************** to save money.

I am comparing two Saturday tickets during the same time of year.
A random tuesday in the off season at $109 for Magic Kingdom and a Saturday during Howl O Scream at Busch Gardens may be similarly priced. But it is not a good comparison. Most people work and have school and Saturday/Sunday are when they can go for one day.
Also, multi day tickets are not a good comparison because Busch Gardens offers Fun Cards. Pay for one day and come back all year. Still miles cheaper than a Disney annual pass or any multi day ticket.

I don't know why people want to push the narrative that Disney isn't the most expensive theme park. It is, and they rarely give discounts. All other major parks run great promos.

I agree with the OP and you have my sympathies! Back when I was in college (you can see how old I am) Disney would offer special rates for college students: $20 admissions! As a FL resident we can get some discounts, but you definitely need to do multi-day tickets in order for it to make any sense. For several years we were annual ticket holders, but the crowds started getting to us, and as my daughter got older she wanted to see Harry Potter stuff so we moved over to Universal. The annual passes there are quite affordable compared with Disney. Another thing I really like about Universal is that I don't feel as though I need to plan out every minute of each day. These days at Disney you need to plan so much in advance, including making sure you can get into a park due to capacity limits, planning your rides, meals, etc. At Universal we stay at an onsite hotel (which are reasonably priced) and if there is a good deal to be had we stay at a Deluxe so that we can get fast passes included. We just go in and enjoy the day - if we are really wanting a particular restaurant we try to make a reservation ahead of time, but most times we just wing it.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to how much money people have and how they want to spend it, and we all have different styles and values. There still seem to be plenty of people willing to pay the Disney prices, so I can see why they would charge them. Right now I'm taking a break from Disney and we're having a good time enjoying other types of vacations. Whatever you wind up doing, hope you are able to get a good break. Given the way things have been going in the world for the last year and half, we all need some good getaways!

What's even worse is when a PH is purchased and not used - which is exactly what we did this past May.

Tickets are insane, resort costs are insane. We ' downgraded' to the second tier fl annual passes even though it has quite a few restrictions. ( we used to do Gold, but wouldn't have minded silver since we don't go a ton in the summer anyway.) Now the block out dates for the comparable silver include a lot of summer, but not other dates that we definitely would have gone to the park. We used to take advantage of AP resort rates to have a stay- cation for 3 or 4 nights every few months. Now obviously discounts are few and far between with the 50th. However it seems the online hotel algorithm is catering to guests with longer stays; when the December discount was released i tried for a3 or 4 night stay ( checked the whole month)...nothing. If I increased it to a week long stay, then resorts popped up available. It's disappointing, but they are a business and can do what they want. We can always try swan/ dolphin for our stays, or universal resorts, or just continue our day trips( we only live 15 minutes away.) Any work for us, so we will just have to adapt!

Everything's so expensive right now!

I bought a new car (new-new car) in December 2019. My daughter is looking to buy something late-model used right now, and we have seen "my car" on several lots -- for SEVERAL THOUSAND MORE than I paid for it new 22 months ago! How does that make any sense?

Supply shortages, plain and simple supply & demand.

We've debated selling our motorhome for a years, this year I could have gotten at least $10k more for it, but replacements were crazy high.

My BIL recently sold his trailer. He'd bought it for 3K including the delivery fee just a few years ago. He had 20 cats living in the trailer, and it smelled like 20 cats lived there. He was hoping for 4K. He got 12K.

I've never been able to snag a deal at Universal. Is there a recommended website or anything?

????????????

Considering there are adults posting here who cry when meeting college kids dressed up as cartoons, I think that loving a baseball team is pretty normal.

Earlier you said you only go for one day, there really are no deals at any of the theme parks for 1 day tickets. Now the cheapest annual pass is not much more than a 3 day park-to-park ticket and gives great deals on resort rates, that’s where you can really save.

The best way is to reserve a room a few months out with a TA that specializes in Universal and Disney. Tell them you want the passholder rate. Then the passholder rooms are released, they'll switch you over. All the pass levels were in the $300's last time I looked.

Last year, we were able to take advantage of a promo on their website, pay for a day come back all year. That was on their own website. It may have been a Florida resident thing, I don't remember

ETA - it was a FL resident promo. But still. Disney would never offer this even to FL residents. My daughter and I got 3.5 months out of these tickets for $174 total with taxes

Oh, I don't mind him loving the Red Sox. In fact, he's flying out tomorrow morning, to go to the playoff game tomorrow night (Happy Birthday, Hon!). I DID object to him wanting to replace a lovely professional photo of our four children with his shadow box with his bat, ring, tickets, lanyard, and him and his brother, grinning like a couple of, well, idiots. Believe me, he wouldn't be going tomorrow if I was really bothered. In fact, if the Red Sox make the World Series again, he'll probably fly back up (Merry Christmas).

He's going now because he and his brother aren't holding out hope for the World Series (although, stranger things have happened). Back when we lived in NH, he had season tickets. We moved to NC, and now his brother has some. They grew up in a Boston suburb, it was in my prenup that our family support the Red Sox.
