When you book Hyatt using points, you do not pay taxes or resort fees. So booking using points is definitely your best option. You can transfer directly from the CSP to Hyatt. Easy peasy!
Is there an easy to remember list of hotels that do/don't charge taxes/resort/parking/resort fees on a points booking?

I think I just have them memorized.

Marriott-covers room taxes but not resort fees and their taxes

Hilton and Hyatt- resort fees and taxes

I don’t think any cover the parking fee but I get free parking at Hyatt as a globalist.

Oh, I totally didn't get the connection. But a connection was unnecessary for me lol. Bridgerton... The Duke... The things I'd let... Nvm. These are FB thoughts. Not good, clean Disboards thoughts.

I'll check out reddit. thanks.

Send your reddit name to @Albort and he can hook you up.

Are you paying the restaurant directly or changing to a WDW room?
I booked it through MDE which I'm not sure how that shows up on the Chase side. I guess there isn't much of a choice on ADR's to book directly with the restaurant. In this case it's for Cinderella's Royal Table requiring advance payment.

I keep them for a year, then cancel if they are no longer needed. Move CL around as necessary between cards... can be done via SM or by calling.
I have a 3 year old CIC with 10K CL (that used to be a CIP) and a 2 year old CIU with 5K CL. I want to apply for a new CIC. Should I close the existing CIC first? If so, should I move like 2K of the "extra" CL to the CIU first so I can move it to a new card, if needed? Sorry for all the questions.

Awww, yeah that’s the problem since you aren’t booking direct. Enjoy CRT though!

Minitrip report - DH picked New Mexico as his 50th bday trip. :confused3 lol I did a hotel review of the Hyatt Tamaya in Albuquerque. We stayed there 3 days in the middle of our trip. The rest of our hotels were nothing to write about. We did a mostly National Park trip. We visited White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountain - all National parks. And Petroglyphs National Monument, Bandelier National Monument and Valles Caldera National Preserve. We got a stamp for the Manhattan Project National Historical Park also but that one you have to visit several different sites, most of which were not open at the time so we just saw what we could. We spent time in Santa Fe, Taos and Roswell also. We had a nice time, did a lot of hiking and did a lot of driving. We used points for flights and all hotels and the rental car, some directly and others I just used PYB of other charges.

I would expect the new CIC to have a $3k CL. The MSR is $7.5k so you could move the $1-2k if you wanted or move nothing and close or reduce the CIC to $3k. It really depends on how you intend to play. Will you be getting them every 3 months? Do you max out office supply so having 2 CICs is beneficial?

Glad to see Chase will have PayPal as a category in Nov. We have 2 WDW trips and an Aulani trip this year so I need to get tons of Disney gift cards. Hoping BJ’s has their usual sale so I can stock up with the discount there and get 5% on the Freedom
Being a west-coaster I'm not familiar with BJ's schedule. What's the timing and discount for the BJ sale?

They tend to have an extra discount around Black Friday. Someone usually posts here when it starts. I can’t remember when it starts? Maybe a few days before?

I can’t recall the exact amount of the discount. Something like 9% off maybe? Plus the extra if you use a card that has PayPal or warehouse bonuses. (I’m sure someone else on here will chime in if they remember)

Speaking of PayPal Key, has anyone used it for their car insurance? Specifically, I have Allstate. They also require a debit/checking account to keep the autopay discount. Wondering if I can change to PPK in this instance... anyone with experience, love to know your thoughts!
When I added my PPK card to Verizon it said it was a debit card even though it was my CIC. I'm pretty sure PPK is a debit card so it shouldn't matter where you use it.

Ok thanks! That’s what I thought, but never know if a company is savvy enough to detect PayPal Key and take away the autopay discount. Guess I’ll give it a try for my upcoming insurance renewal.

ETA: oops, my insurance autopay has to be a bank account only! Not even debit cards ☹️ I get more of a discount for having autopay than I’d get paying it with any credit card, so I guess it stays as is. Still kind of stings a bit though lol.

If you want a fun time suck, search on twitter for #NFID22 maybe you'll see me ;) It'll be interesting to see if they can go viral up against the Apple Keynote, LOL.

Looking for insight. Been playing this game for about 6 years, first time myself or P2 have been below 5/24 since it was implemented (although i dont actually fall back under for a couple months). P2 opened first ever chase card about 2 months ago so she is fresh with chase... My dilemma is since I do not MS, I am limited by the MSR and I have two options right now.

1. CIC with 20k support (P2)

or

2. Amex NLL Delta Plat (P1) + Chase Marriott 3 nights 50k (P2) - Personally, I am at 5 cc limit (just opened gold biz NLL) so I would have to close a card to do this... and the personal chase would put P2 at 5/24 but only for a couple months so makes no difference.

Delta I typically fall back to using through delta vacations for disney hotels and the marriott card is substantially more valuable to me now than it has been in years considering the onsite benefits the swolphin has (which is 100% where these certs would be used)

Any thought on direction? Going with 1, is that too soon after establishing relationship with chase? I also feel that even if this isnt the case, I would avoid applying for anything else here for a while.
I know you said you don't MS, but you could try th Venmo route w/ Chase to hit the MSR. That was my back up on the CIU, and then I went and hit it organically.

How long after you cancel are you trying again? Do you not have multiples of cards? I had a CIP which I PC'd to a CIC. I just finished the SUB on the CIU. I could go for another CIC, right? Is there any language on how often you can get a SUB? I know there were people doing multiple CIPs. And Chase doesn't seem to "punish" you (like Amex who hates me right now) for closing and opening often? Is it 3 mos between personal and biz too? I got my CIU in June, IHG in August, so not sure when Chase is safe again. You'd just thrown another wrench in my "next card" plans, LOL. I figured next was close the CSR (AF up in Nov) and try the MDD. But now I'm thinking perhaps continue getting INK cards (once I MDD I'll be 6/24. I won't be 4/24 until 10/22. But maybe then Amex won't hate me.

The gold biz is a charge card and wouldn't be included in the 5 credit card limit.

I think the CIC would be better. With the support, at 1.5 cpp, that would be worth $1425. With much more flexibility, no AF, and no 5/24 slots. Not sure what the Delta plat SUB is, 70K? Which would be worth $700 used in Delta Vacations. The 3 nights Swolphin, if valued at $250/night, the total of the 2 SUBs would be $1450, not subtracting out the AFs yet. Not to mention the certs, you run the risk of not being able to use them if the time you want to go becomes peak. I don't think it matters that your P2 is new to Chase, but you would want to space it out at least 3 months to be safer.

Yes, you'll need to transfer 180,000 URs and Hyatt doesn't charge any taxes or fees on point reservations.

Thanks - good to know!

Follow-up question, is there a non-chase business card (that doesn’t count against 5/24) that could get me Hyatt points? Do MRs transfer to Hyatt?
