New mask requirements experience on 7/30

Does anyone know if tickets are refundable if health protocols are either too much or not enough for you? I have Boo Bash tickets and was going to buy one day tickets for HWS. We are okay with the current rules, but if masks will be required outside here soon then we would just like to do resort days instead. I know the Boo Bash is non refundable, but what about the one day tickets?

Just heard that Florida had the highest number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Are masks going to be mandated?

They won't be refunded, but they retain their value. So you can apply the value you paid for that ticket to tickets in the future and just pay the difference in cost.

We saw good compliance at AK on Friday, particularly indoors and covered queues. The exterior extended portion of Safari, which I have never seen even during Spring Break, Thanksgiving, and Xmas-NYE, had poor compliance, but it was completely outdoors, had a good breeze, and only had two rows.

Epcot yesterday had lower compliance, even indoors. The outdoor part of Spaceship Earth was less compliant, but it’s really outdoors and had a tremendous breeze.

We’re on our 2nd full day with the new mask rule- enforcement is inconsistent, but they are constantly repeating it over the sound system and most rides are enforcing it well. We almost always see a mask sniffer or 2, but everyone at least has masks on.

The friendship boats from the BC are requiring masks. The boats at Ft Wilderness were not. Happy to see the boats coming up to speed on it.

So for the most part our experience is it’s working well. I’m seeing more people wearing masks outside as well, although the majority are not.
Okay, I have a new name to use--mask sniffer :rotfl:

My experience this past week is that starting on Friday at all the parks I went to, guests were asked to mask up as soon as they entered an attraction’s official queue (not the outdoor overflow queues), whether that was inside or outside, and keep it on throughout the whole attraction, again whether the attraction was inside or not. We were told that the mask must cover nose, mouth, and chin and have 2 layers. Cast members said it as entering most queues and as announcements once boarded on rides. In some places I noticed pre-recorded announcements playing as well reiterating this every so often in queues. Signs reminding people to wear masks were on the doors to all stores and restrooms.

Was guest compliance amazing? No. It was better than I expected, but my expectations were pretty low. I would say more guests were properly wearing masks when required than not, but still too many clearly wearing them under noses or on chins on purpose. Honestly, I feel like mask compliance was worse on buses than it was on attractions.

I am here now as well. I am having a totally different experience than ones listed above. The mask rule has been very relaxed where I have been. Especially the hotel. I see guests in lobby and elevators without a mask. Also today at MK we were not required to put mask on until we were actually in the indoor part of Splash and Thunder. CMs specifically said to have mask ready to put on when inside. Not in outdoor line at all! Also the same at HM. I have visited four times with mask guidelines and this is definitely NOT how it was then. On the sky liner they told us you when you board. Either way you roll, be safe! The fireworks are insanely crowded! There are people complying but what I am seeing now I would not come if you are at all concerned! Sweaty people filling in all available space for sure!!!!!

I’ve actually seen reports of the same things you said for Splash and HM.
Which hotel are you at?

To me the confusion lies with what Disney is doing and the wording they are using, The CDC changed guidelines for indoor mask wearing, and Disney, in my opinion, is taking it way too far. Enforcing mask wearing on the Carousel, which is entirely outdoors, makes no sense to me at all. And Disney uses the words "indoor mask wearing" in their guidance. I've agreed with virtually everything they have done during this pandemic, but I think they have it wrong this time. Wear masks at the indoor seated attractions with long times around other people - Muppetvision, Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress, etc. and don't do anything anywhere else. This will make it much easier for the cast members and follow more closely with the CDC. Hopefully, they see the confusion they are causing and adjust. They've been pretty good at doing that.

Just hearing about all the abuse CMs are receiving because of something they cannot control is making me furious. People are jerkfaces, and it seems like they are even bigger jerkfaces now that the pandemic is worsening - people are thinking more about "me me me!" instead of "we". It's disgusting. Now to go make some stickers or even small business cards to give to the CMs to let them know how much I appreciate them when I go in December. Receiving the little "honors" cards from patients was one of the best feelings I've had as a nurse, and I really want to make sure the CMs know that they're amazing and Disney wouldn't be Disney without them.
Couldn't agree more acebatonfan :flower1:

And then the after getting out of the CM's line of sight, some guests drop their masks below their noses  We aren't there yet, but have noticed this disobedience on some of the livestreams we watch :sad2:

Thank you! I really hope cases go down and they won’t have to implement any additional protocols before our trip.

Edit to add--I see now where you mention the under the nose thing. Sorry my post above was redundant, as you mentioned the same things in your post I responded to ;)

I will be there in 2 weeks. I was there in November and I had to wear my mask everywhere. I was so happy planning this trip thinking, wow back to normal. But with Florida cases out of control and this variant being so contagious. I am kind glad Disney is doing what is doing.

Also, if I have it correct the no mask indoors and out has only been in affect since mid June. And before that the outdoor lifting was mid May. So, it’s not like there has been no masks for 6 months or longer and now masks are mandated again. When I first booked my August trip, I did it understanding I would be wearing a mask everywhere. I would think others did too. So, to be canceling due to the mask mandate indoors….?? But to each his own.

Another point I knew traveling to Florida that I would be masking up at Airport, on Flight and Disney transportation.

I recently watched 2 Vloggers video showing the new normal and things looked fine. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 So, even if I have to mask up in two weeks, I do hope and pray that things get better for Florida and the rest of U.S. 😷 up and get the 💉

They probably will not be allowed to accept your kindness…that is one of the reasons for mobile order to eliminate touching paper menus…
Sorry
Back in September, when masks were still required inside and outside and social distancing was still 6 feet, we handed out stickers to CMs. No one declined them.

Do you know (obviously okay if you don't/if others answer), when this happens, do they give you a gift card? I'm just trying to plan ahead. I am not planning on making a final decision until closer (travel Sept 21) but am starting to plan ahead.

No they do not. It just stays in your account. More like a credit.
