Losing points in November and disappointed in DVC

I haven't been on much lately, so if there's thread on this already, please let me know. I'm wondering what people are doing about the points they may lose on November 30th.

I had a trip schedule for 4/3-4/9 and, obviously, that got cancelled. I have a Sept UY, so my points were set to expire on August 31st and those are being extended to November 30th. But, in my opinion, I don't feel that our current situation has improved enough that I could justify the lengths I would have to go through to force a trip by Nov. 30th. And, quite honestly, I just don't feel good about being at WDW right now. I wish I could - I really do. And as much as I have tried to see if I could make this work, DH is an absolute "NO" on going to WDW right now.

So now what? My options are either 1) put them into RCI on or before October 17th (so I'll wait until the last minute to do so if I have no other choices) or 2) lose the points. Have other people just given up hope and will do RCI? I know my whining is not going to change the minds of the executives over at DVC, but is that it? Two emails from Terri in April and May, and nothing else? Thanks, DVC members, one of our highest affinity groups, but you're SOL? Sure, this cancellation was out of Disney's control, but it was also outside of mine. Why am I the only one holding the bag here? (I've emailed MS basically all of this - not that I expect them to do anything about it.)

Sorry...just feeling sorry for myself and for anyone else in this predicament.

We have a Dec UY with banked points set to expire on Nov 30th. We moved our April reservation to July and then to Thanksgiving. At this point we are going to try and make it work but if we can't, we will try and rent out the reservation for dirt cheap- anything is better than nothing. I've been stressing over my points since March and if we lose them- so be it.

Unfortunately there really was no way for DVC to find solutions for every situation.

And just want to point out that there is a contract in place with every DVC Member that outlines all the rules and regulations of the contract which is meant to both control but all protect every member. An example of protection for me is that you are unable to bank your points 2 consecutive years causing a reduction in availability in future years when I am unable to bank 2 consecutive years.

You also could have banked a Sept UY until April 30th which was even after your trip was cancelled by Disney themselves.

Solutions
Rent out your points for likely $10-$13/point
Move points to RCI
Give points to someone you know

Also yes this all sucks for many people who are having issues with points expiring, resorts closed, quarantine requirements, ect

Hello Is any one worried about annual passes coming back. I am very concerned. It will cost me almost double for park tickets. Just love having my annual pass. Please let me know if you have any concerns about getting the annual pass back. DVC should give us a heads up. I just think dvc should let us know something.

Different threads on it but most think it will come back and sometime between October - January timeframe. Some others think maybe later next year.

DVC won't know anything about APs. That's something they have to negotiate with ticketing / parks?

I wish I could go. Im UK and US borders are closed even though we have very low infections compared to US. As soon as I can come, I’m on that plane. I’d be jumping at this reservation. Although no criticism of OP, not everyone’s as gung ho as us. I’d rather live my life and take risks, I'm statistically extremely unlikely to die even if I got Covid, and if I do, at least I’d have gone down fighting.

If points was extended was the deadline for moving points to RCI extended too?

I mean normally it’s 45 days before they expire (IIRC)

We are just resigned to possibly losing our 289 points if we are unable to travel before they expire. One of the risks of timeshares I suppose. Disney unborrowed points for us, for which I was grateful. We banked 289 and hope to use them before November 2021, but who knows at this point? No interest in RCI so if it comes to it, they’ll expire.

It’s not anyone’s first choice of points use, but we had an excellent time at an RCI Resort. Don‘t just think it’s not worth anything.
