For anyone else who did the slickdeals offer in May for $125 for opening an HSBC account, I just got paypal notice that the bonus hit my account today. Looks like I opened the HSBC account on May 19. I think the account has to be open for 6 months or there is a fee from HSBC for closing it. Yes, $25 fee if account is closed within 180 days of opening.

Hmmmm, nothing for me yet, but this is great!!! I will keep looking!

Update: I got the letter from Chase today. It says I was not approved because:
-Too few accounts on file reported recently
-Insufficient balance in deposit and investment accounts with us

So I just need more credit to establish a history. I've got new BoA checking and savings accounts and will try for a BoA cash rewards card after 1 or 2 statements. Then, after 2-3 months when I've met the spend, I don't know if I'll try for Chase again, or get the Sam's MC for their gas rewards first.

If I'm declined for the BoA card, I'll probably get the Discover It Secured before I try for anything else.

At least I have a plan!

Sounds like you don't have enough credit card history for a Chase tier 2 card. A checking and savings account isn't going to help to much with that. You could try to get an airlines card like a Southwest card. (Not sure if you need to fly to the parks or are local) and that would at least get you into the Chase system. I probably would wait a year before applying for another Sapphire card though.

Who has refinanced with NavyFed? Can you explain the process? it's our first refi- i'm on the loan application part where it wants me to pay to run our credit, I want to know more about the process before I submit the application. Feel free to PM me.

Since you tried for the CSP.....Chase may approve you for one of their lower level no fee cards like the CFU or CF.

Ooh, thanks for the update. I opened on May 21 so hopefully mine will hit soon!

Got mine too.

I think we’ve decided that Dh will be applying for the CFU and the Amex Blue Cash card (haven’t decided between every day or preferred yet). Anyone have either of the Amex cards?

I have the Every Day. I used to have the preferred but once I began CC churning, I found I wasn't using the Preferred as much to justify the AF. I still rarely use the Everyday unless I don't have a MSR but that is pretty rare for me, even with things slowing down. Both are great cards though! You just need to figure out how much you will put on the card for groceries and decide if the $95 AF makes sense.

Both of my girls at 18 were able to get a regular Discover Card (not secured) with no credit history other than being an AU on our cards. After they had the Discover for a short while they both were able to get the Freedom Unlimited Card. Though I don't know if Chase and others are tightening things up on personal cards now too.

I must have missed this change - I was trying to move 80k UR's from my dd20's CIP to my dh's CSR. I've frequently had to 'frog jump' a few cards to move points. I got an error trying to go straight to dh's card. So, I moved them from dd's CIP to her CFU. Then I tried to move from her CFU to his CSR. Another error. So I contacted Chase about it. They responded back that you can only move to a household member who is also an AU'er on your account. Is this new?? Any way to get around this?

I've had both. The preferred worked well for me when I was buying a lot of gift cards at my local grocery store which also has fuel rewards so there were extra perks for that. There are just 2 of us at home and I don't buy enough groceries anymore to justify the AF, plus with cancelled travel and dining out I have a surplus of GC. So I will be switching back down to everyday. They have in the past offered me extra points to upgrade from one to the other.

I am still able to move points from my CSP to DH's CSR. Neither of us are AUs on the other's cards. (Just did a test move of 5 pts to be sure).

🤔 I just transferred points from my account to DH’s account on June 8th with no problems. We are not AU on each other’s cards. So I’m hoping the person you spoke to was confused 🤷🏼‍♀️ if not Chase would’ve just changed it recently. That would be a horrible change 😒

I just moved points today from my account to DH and I am not an AU. Hopefully, it was just a glitch.

Here is the message I received from Chase:

Thank you for contacting Chase. It would be my pleasure to review and address your inquiry today.

Here's how it works:
- You can transfer points in 1,000-point increments to participating frequent travel programs.
- You can transfer points to accounts that belong to you or one additional household member who is listed as an authorized user on your card account.
- When you transfer points to an authorized user, they will be the only authorized user who can receive point transfers.
- For business card accounts, you can only transfer points to a frequent travel account that belongs either to you or to a business owner who is listed as an authorized user on the account.

It will be a lot of 'frog jumping' but I think I will try to move from dd's CFU to my CF (she is an AU on that card) and then maybe I will be able to move to one of my dh's cards...? We aren't AU'ers on any cards of each others but maybe since spouse?? Idk, I'll keep trying. I hope this isn't a new thing.
