I will say that 95%+ of people are awesome at rope drop. But the 5%... they stick out like a sore thumb!! You hear some arguments and other stuff. Itā€™s just so hard for people to wake up at 5am and accept they got a backup group due to their technology not performing as well as the people around them. You feel bad for the sad ones...you sorta judge the angry ones who are not treating their loved ones well.

Can someone explain how you "take someone off your list"? Do you mean unfriend them? Then you would have to email them again, etc to get them back on your list?
You can now do most on the app
Go to profile
go to Family and Friends list
click on the name of someone you want to remove and hit remove from my list
I have been able to take 5 people off and one that won't let me, fr whatever reason. So it's worth the try from home on the app
I had to actually call Disney to get someone taken off my list. I assume they mean your "friends and family list" that you have in your planning party in MDE.
Typically they wont take them off the list if you have plans together.
I have 1 that I canā€™t remove either. Iā€™m not sure what this one is, I call it my ghost friend. I have him on my family list, then for some reason on my friends list with a different icon and he just wonā€™t go away from the friends list! lol Iā€™ll call before we leave and get it taken care of.
good reminder to me that I still need to do this - I was able to remove some people but others it says I cannot as they have active plans (even though they don't and haven't in several years) so I need to find time to call
Do they have any Magic Bands? You will need to call IT and completely delete all their Magic Bands (they will not be able to be used anymore) to delete friends and family ā€œwith plans.ā€

So, I followed @yulilin3 instructions above. My mom and dad were on there from our Nov 2018 trip. They have no current actual plans, and also no potential plans for another joint trip (that sounds kinda mean, but not really). I tried removing them, but the app wouldn't let me. So my TA is going to call to get it done.
Then, since we haven't gotten our new MBs yet, I just hopped over to that page, and my mom and dad's MBs/cards were all active (even though they don't use them). There was an option to deactivate them and a message that they could be reactivated at any time. I deactivated them. The app then had NO PROBLEM removing them from my FF list. Now, the only people on there is my Family if 5 that is all playing the brand-new, hit game Boarding Group Mayhem (by Disney, patent pending)!

The tension, drama, and frustration is crazy at rope drop now. The more cheers that go up, the more frustrated other people become. It is so strange... I wouldnā€™t describe anything about it as fun. But once they start walking you into TSL (or wherever youā€™re headed) all the tension fades away. 6:30-7:01 though...itā€™s rough!
I'm wondering how many people who are actually there & ready at park open (like, inside & everything) don't get BG's?

I practiced today for the first time and wanted to share about it while asking if there is more steps or information I can gain from practicing. Cause I haven't seen much posted on it.

I realized the app takes about 13 seconds to fire up so opened the app at 6:59:45 on the world clock.
I tried to get a boarding group, the "join boarding group" button was grayed out. I toggled back and forth a couple times. Button still gray
I closed the app and opened it again at 7:00:22
Button was red. I hit join and not go the select members of your group.
Hit select all and enter

Next screen was the screen that said we were not in the park.
Cancelled that and joined again and repeated steps and got back to the "not in park screen"

I then repeated everything at 7:06 and this time I got a big warning notice that said I would be getting a backup boarding group. This was clearly different from my experience moments before

Is there any more information or steps to take once you get the "not in park screen"?
Is the real practice come in by getting the red button but not getting the big warning notice that says I would be getting a backup group?
If you don't get the big warning notice for backups does that mean I would have been successful in the park?

Thanks everyone, thread is part of my daily routing now

This is from Disneyland but it captures the drama and the tensions of joining the VQ
I'm a cynical person so this would annoy the heck out of me, lol. It feels like they're fake hyping it up & then dancing around & stuff....I know, I know, just let people enjoy things, but this must be really frustrating for the people whose app freezes or whatever. Maybe I'll live stream when I'm there this weekend, lol.

I don't think I've been on the Falcon since October. Def going on it again when my parents are down next week for my bday!
Rode on MFSR in Disneyland in Nov. Hardly any waits. Mostly walked on. I have no interest in standing in line to ride this again. I do want to try the new ride and hope it's worth it.

So, 7:00 opening today, backups lasted until 8:52 (just shy of 2 hours). I'm trying not to get my hopes up. We get off a cruise ship Saturday the 8th. We are doing express checkout and getting a ride to boardwalk at 7:30. We will dump our suitcases with bell hop and head straight to DHS. I'm thinking we will get there between 9:15-9:30 if things go well. It is an 8:00 AM opening. What % chance do you think we get to ride? I'm putting it at about 10%. Obviously it will be a backup BG. Crowds might be a little heavier on the weekend but is a slow time of year. We will be there a little over 1 hour after opening but it is a later opening. If there are more than one or two down times will also greatly reduce our chances. Anyways curious what other people think our chances are. We are going either way. We have not been to Galaxies Edge yet so worst case we will still get to check out the millennium falcon ride. We also have reservations for Olga's.

Our experience today in booking a lyft from CSR -- ignore the pick up location choices on the app -- they can only pick up in front of Gran Destino tower. HS bus did stop at bus stop 3 at the Ranchos at 5:30 a.m. and it was empty.
Just the info I was looking for! Staying at CSR in March! trying to decide if it's better to catch the 1st bus or Uber/lyft

Yep - granted my day might be chalked up as an anomaly, but there was absolutely nothing fun or exciting about our experience. The ā€œfeelingā€ and ā€œvibeā€ in the park that morning is the primary reason we (likely) wonā€™t be doing it again. Lifeā€™s too short and for us itā€™s vacation. Very happy it works for so many, but Iā€™m content that Iā€™ll be on the outside looking in for now. 8-)

Admittedly a topic for another thread.

anyone have any data on T-Mobile service/ issues? I am just concerned because when I try to look at fast passes here at home more than half the time I get the thinking ring for 40 sec or longer and about half of those time out with no info.
My daughter snagged us BG 15 using T-mobile data a couple weeks ago.

Iā€™m posting this question here and in the POFQ thread hoping for an answer. Iā€™m staying at French Quarter and tomorrow is my DHS day. My room is in Building 1, right next to a roundabout. Can I schedule an Uber to pick me up there or does it have to be at the main entrance? It just seems like that location might be easier.

We leave tomorrow and I already have a low level anxiety buzz going for Thursday morning. It actually reminds me a bit of comic con badge buying day and hotel lotto day. After doing that for the past 10 years, I feel like this process is soooooo much more simple. I don't think people realize how long 60 seconds really is! It's enough time to have a glitch, restart the app, do that again... It just sounds fast considering it's the only minute that counts :rotfl:

I think it was a lot better before the change in Mid December. I mean the vibe of the RD crowd. When it was first come first serve, once you were through people were celebrating, and there wasn't any tension. It also helped the whole park was open at 6am too lol

That day I was there (I think it was like 4 days after opening day), will probably go down as my favorite day in Disney ever

My plan is to make this as stress free as possible. It's all about perception, isn't it?
The best way to eliminate stress would be to go into your day planning to not ride. Then if you get a BG and it gets called - BONUS!! You canā€™t control how many people show up, how fast your phone works, how the ride performs, etc. That was my attitude today (easy for us since we already rode Sunday). I know that sounds crazy but the way many of us are as ā€œplannersā€ this adds a serious stress factor. Iā€™m with @GADisneyDad14 here!
