@calypso726 I'm waiting to hear more from Hugh Allison. If I do, and we're able to schedule my Big B-day trip with his company (sadly not him since I dallied and he's booked) do you have any recommendations for Stornoway, Portree and/or Tobermory? I didn't know if you'd done that neck of the woods with him or in your travels.

Also, have you seen OPI's Scotland line for nail color? I've bought (ahem) half of the 14, some just because I love the names!

Hope you had a great cruise-are you sold on Concierge after that?

This might be old news (I'm trying to keep up here, but falling short of that goal while on vacation), but OOMAT is pushing a "new" public offer AMEX Biz Plat card with a 100K MR SUB. I was surprised that they were offering it to everyone now, until I saw that it was 50K with the first 10K MSR, and then a second 50K once the second 15K MSR is finished. Talk about being in the card company pockets... :rolleyes1

Yes, that public offer was making its way around the points and miles blogs last week – including DoC. It is an elevated offer, but I think most people would consider it inferior to the 100k MR/$10k call-in offer. At least DoC mentions this, as well as that the elevated offer is available via support link, which would net the supporter another 10k-20k MR, depending on the supporting card; and some people are able to pull a 110k MR offer via incognito. It's still hard to justify spending an additional $15k over the call-in offer for, at most, an additional 30k MR via support link/incognito from this offer.

I agree with @palhockeymomof2 that we aren't openly posting this on the thread here. It's a somewhat complicated loophole that we probably don't want out in the open. I just posted a mini guide on DISchurners here:

I tried my best to type some instructions but it's a hard concept to put into words. I sort of stumbled on it one night due to my knowledge of the intricacies of the Southwest booking system. I'm not sure if any others figured it out on their own or elsewhere or if they just heard me mention it.
Just a reminder - for those that were hoping to take advantage of the SW free re-booking window due to Max 8 (which through certain strategies CAN cover both Thanksgiving and Christmas)... I believe the cutoff to do this is midnight tonight!

If you didn't have a chance to read up on this one - I typed up a "mini-guide" of sorts on DISchurners which is linked in my quoted post above.

I was so happy that Chase finally opened bank branches in my state. So Friday night, after working 47 hours in 4 days, I sat down to apply for the $600 bonus that they sent me the offer for, and was denied. So rude LOL.
Am I remembering correctly you are in MN? Where did Chase open a branch?

According to my email it ends tonight

I have not used one yet, so I am not sure! Though looking at Hawaii, I think there are only 2 possible redemption locations: The Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach or the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach. All others look higher than a category 4. I am hoping to get a second free night with staying 30 nights this year. Right now with all DH's travel he has planned for the rest of the year, he is at exactly 50 for Marriott and 27 for Hyatt through the end of the year. I am like please go away 3 more nights in a Hyatt friendly place! haha Hyatt's are ususally tough for him, but he will have had 3 conferences at Hyatt Regencys this year so the nights added up. And with almost 30 nights we are still only at 3 different Hyatt Brands! Grrrrrr

Also, maybe you know this, but for some reason I assumed the spend $15k was for calendar year. It is for your anniversary year. I am now seeing spend $5k for 2 nights credits also. Maybe I need to at least do that this year.

Good to know, thanks! We actually got the card in january so it works out about the same for us lol. I have my eye on the Grand Hyatt Kaua’i currently, so I wonder if I could use it there.

Thanks. I was looking at it for possible Hawaii trip. Though I was looking at the Centric more because I want another brand!! I think they are near each other.

I've been looking at the brand deal and it's almost impossible for me.

Something to watch on DoC...

New Chase Preapproved Offer Method To Bypass 5/24 (“You’re Already Approved”)
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/new-...to-bypass-5-24/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
FYI - there is now an r/churning thread on this method for bypassing 5/24 as well (started by DoC):

As somebody who IS under 5/24, I'm not following this one as closely. For those over 5/24, please make sure to share your experiences here. I know our own @Judique recently got approved for one of these "green check mark" cards. If you're over 5/24, it's something I'd be checking for regularly!

We went to Tobermory with Hugh. We went to Stornoway and Portree with both ABD and again with Hugh Allison.

Here is where we stayed during July, one night at each place, all were en suite, and I believe every place included breakfast.

Stornoway - we stayed at The Royal Hotel. I recall it was clean and in a god location considering the very limited options. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat if/when we go back to Stornoway. The double occupancy room for PlanePrincess and I was 159 GBP the single occupancy room for my mom was 119 GBP. We ate at the Boatshed restaurant in the hotel.

Portree - We stayed at the Rosedale Hotel. One room with no view was 90 GBP and the one with a view was 140 GBP. This place was crazy fun since it is several fishing cottages connected and feels like it was designed by Hogwarts architects. No elevators. Defitneily don't dilly dally and book your Portree accommodations well in advance as they go very quickly. Portree and all of Skye is the current hot spot from what I hear. We made reservations in advance for dining at the hotel and are glad we did. The food was outstanding. The dining room is the size of an attic, but very charming and some of the seats have a view of the harbor. I'd love to stay here again. I must have forgotten to take pictures of the room But I did get pictures of the view.

Tobermory - We stayed at the Tobermory Hotel. It was 80 GBP for a single room with no view and the double with sea view was 170 GBP. This is another hotel designed by the architects of Hogwarts but slightly less insane than the one in Portree. The staff here was outstanding and I'd love to go back again. We ate at Mishnish which opened in 1869 and is just a short walk from the Tobermory, perhaps a minute or two away. The pink building in the first pic is the Tobermory Hotel, the last pic is the view from our room.

I looked for the Barclay Arrival + link tonight. I had planned to have my husband get this card to help pay for our Disney park tickets for our next trip. Apparently, they are no longer taking applications for this card. I already have it and we both already have Capital One Venture cards. Are there any other options out there?

For those of you who purchased the Disney tickets through Delta Vacations. When do we get access to those? Do we get actual tickets mailed to us or codes for the tickets via email so we can put them on MDE?

@calypso726 -Thanks so much! I had been leaning toward The Royal and Tobermory hotel ( of course, it’s pink!) so off to research The Rosedale. I’m hoping one of his other guides can take us- I have Plan B but his company is definitely choice #1.

You're welcome. This last trip was our third with Hugh and we have plans to return again and travel with him again in a couple of years. If you can appreciate quirky architecture and getting lost between the stairs that go up so you can go down, ducking a ceiling that appears out of nowhere and enjoy the novelty of such madness then you will like the Rosedale.

That’s a pretty wide open question. If you can provide the information we ask in one of the first few posts we could probably provide some better advice.

I never did get to check this yesterday...but I am happy to report that AAvacations shows Disney 2020 availability as of right now...

Perhaps they went away briefly but all looks good again. I'm checking 3 different dates in January to verify this with varying stay lengths. Just to reiterate - this is only mods and deluxe. Values no longer appear there dating back to spring 2019 when that change occurred.

However, @PolyRob - I am glad I jumped on CR when I did because they do NOT show theme view rooms any more for my dates on the AA site!! Super glad I have that locked in :D
Ya know, I app'd for ... that's why they disappeared. The previous disappearance coincided .... At least they returned faster this time.

Refresh my memory, Chase ... normally show as earning on next statement on a Tuesday evening? P2 was approved for CIP #2 last Tuesday so I shouldn’t be concerned that they don’t yet show as pending, right?
They’ve been more inconsistent lately. Some reports of points posting on Wednesday or Thursday. That said, I wouldn’t be concerned for at least 3 weeks after a click.
