If I'm only wanting to get park tickets for WDW on Delta Vacations package, what's the cheapest suggestion there?
I'd like to know as well. I'm guessing flight for one ATL to MCO and 2 nights at a value? Not sure if it makes it worth it for just the tickets or not.

So today's recap:
  • Got 15k URs back from cancelled United flights
  • Bought printer ink
    • 1 cartridge through Ebates for 2% back plus 1500 MR welcome bonus, used CIC
    • 3 cartridges through Best Buy with RMN (hopefully 10%) and AMEX offer for 10% back plus Disney GCs to use the rest of offer
  • Got in my Disney Plus Subscription (discount still active this morning) using Discover via Paypal
  • Used $600 from MCGC Safeway deal towards car loan on Plastiq with 1% fee
  • Cancelled Hilton Biz for $95 back from AF (I can't remember, will AMEX move that balance to another card?)
  • Still fighting/waiting to see if I can get fees removed from Chase/Discover returned payment nonsense (@Judique I've had bad luck with AMEX no matter how I contacted them, but good luck with Chase and SM on this so figured I'd see how that shakes out first...)
  • Need to call Barclay for DHs AA Biz and unlock/pay
  • The laundry is winning.

@kidsfirsttrip I also just purchased WDW tickets through Delta and I'm hoping to upgrade them. I'm going in January 2020--if you go before, please let me know what your experience is. I'm curious if they are upgradable at all, and if so, whether we can get some credit if we paid in excess of the upgraded ticket value. Thanks!
Sorry we weren’t planning on going until 4/20
Do those 10 day tickets have an expiration date? Is it 12/31/2020?
Yes and yes
Do you happen to know if the ticket vouchers are usable at any time (flexible ticket, 12/31/20 expiration)? We travel Nov 2020, so I would book a trip within the Delta promo and use the vouchers for Nov
Says flexible tickets must be used buy 12/31/2020 so you should be good

So book a refundable package fly one person from anywhere to MCO. Then book a value for 2 nights at Disney (so they send you the tix at 60 Days and no will call crap). Add however many day tickets you want. If you put your dates before the end of this year Delta is giving 2 days free (but it’s not s huge savings). Get the travel insurance, I paid $232 on a 4K package. Get your tix and cancel the package. You will get a voucher at the double points value then you could use that towards a hotel night when you go or on another trip. Just be sure not to book for the same dates that you may rebook for. This is new territory but so far it seems to be lining up.

It's ok but not great. Keep in mind the plethora of Amex pop-ups associated with Hilton cards. In my mind that means I really really want a Hilton card to be worth the bonus. The last one had slightly more points but also included the Free Night cert and that can worth hundreds of dollars in itself. Personally unless I really needed HH points I'd pass for now and see if that better offer pops up again.
No pun intended with all the pop ups !
The CSR at Delta vacations I spoke with DIDN'T EVEN KNOW how the tickets would come to me! Ugh. So, what if you wanted to book for just tickets (cancelling both the hotel and flight for the voucher) but not until LATE next year. What are the odds that the tickets would then have a LATER than 12-31-20 expiration? I'm looking for the JUST TIX option as well!
Geez. I just called and she tried to explain how to set up MDE, I was like 🙄. But she said my tickets would be mailed from Delta and they would be mailed tomorrow. You can only book packages through the middle of 2020 so you can’t get tickets for later and the double mile deal ends this week. If they do the promo again then that’s a possibility

Yes! I really liked them! I’m wondering how often they change the shorts
I remember these short films were added back in June of 2017. IDK what the normal timeline for changes is or if it has been delayed because of the Epcot construction.

The GBP is taking a nosedive due to all the Brexit nonsense. It's at the lowest level it's been in years. Things are not expected to get better any time soon over there so it's likely to fall even lower, making your trip cost less when converted to USD. That's if you book on the UK site.

We booked DLP on Hotels.com, which may also be a good option for you since you get 10x with the Venture card through Jan 2020. We booked a package, 2 nights at DL Hotel which included 3-day parkhoppers. I was a little worried because there were no details about the type of tickets on the Hotel.com website or in the confirmation email, but all was well when we checked in. I guess the only bummer is that you have to pay the whole thing upfront. Watch for a promo code.

Thanks! I looked at the exchange rate over the last year and it’s way lower now than it was, but I don’t follow that sort of news so had no idea what it might be likely to do in the next 8 months.

I’ve looked up our DLP dates on the Hotels.com site but it doesn’t look like the on site resorts are on there later than about March 2020, and we’re going in June.

I'd.ask over on the DLP board. I think you can only do a deposit by calling I think all sites require full payment. I booked through the US site and had to pay in full when I booked.

It make take a day or so to get an answet but the DLP board has some good people there..

I’ll head over there and ask. When I start a booking on the website it gives me the option of making a $4xx.xx or so deposit with the rest being due at some point next spring. I don’t remember the exact number of weeks. I thought maybe I’d do that and use my Cap1 miles to cover that then figure out the rest over the winter.

Well, I'm thinking this Delta Deal might work for our Utah trip. Mainly for the savings on the flights, it's the only airlines with a direct flight to SLC. I'll have to call and I guess this means we'll have to finalize our trip dates.

Why is everyone buying the trip insurance?

Only issue here is if I book for just 1, it only allows for 1 ticket to be purchased. I suppose I could buy one each of a 7, 8, 9, 10 day for the 4 of us?
EDIT: Found out that if you go to the page where you put in your info for flight, you can just "backspace" and add another.

The game changer would be if you can use the voucher to apply towards "activities" such as the tickets. That way all the hotel cost can just go to those.

Also- the promo didn't seem to help much. Should I just buy an 8-day to have it become a 10-day, or does the 10-day become a 12-day (which don't exist?)

Thinking about the next step for DH.

Card history:

Chase Freedom - 12/16
Chase Freedom Unlimited AU - 05/17
Chase Sapphire Preferred - 09/17 (downgraded to Chase Freedom)
Chase Ink Cash - 03/18
Chase IHG - 03/18
Bank of America BankAmericard - 01/18
Chase Ink Unlimited - 02/19

So he is 2/24. I am thinking about applying him for a CIP. I no longer have one, so I wouldn't get a referral bonus, unfortunately. He already has two Chase business cards, so I am not sure what his chances are for a third? We are planning to buy new tires for both cars, so meeting the spend would be pretty easy.

All of our major trips are covered through 2020, but we are hoping to go to Hawaii in 2021. I am thinking I want to keep the flexibility to pursue SW companion passes for both of us for flights, but I would love to build more UR points to help cover some hotel expenses since we plan to do a split between Aulani and somewhere on Kauai. Thoughts? Thanks!

I would recommend the CIP.....look at the CLs on his other chase cards and reduce if needed...Chase likes you to stay under 50% of household income or around $70 k in extended credit
I just got my 5th chase business card so 3 shouldn’t be a problem

The key is getting the insurance so you can refund the flight and hotel portion. The tickets are nonrefundable I would stick with a Disney hotel to insure ticket delivery but otherwise it doesn’t really matter as that portion will be refunded in a voucher. If you want to lay out as few points as possible to the flight/hotel portion (I did) I booked ATL-MCO, 10/22-10/24, 2 nights all star music. With the tickets the package was $3900 with the insurance, I got 4 10 day tickets. I paid with 200K SkyMiles. I will end up with the tickets and a voucher for $860 for 200k miles

Maybe now that disney has full control they've added deposits or it's the US site that doesn't allow us. That's nice.

As for exchange rates who knows with brexit.

Also I forgot to mention this you can add on more tickets after the fact so i didn’t need to book for 4 people like I did. Glad the backspace worked. So I paid $232 in insurance instead of $150 and more for flights but I’ll use the voucher anyways.
You mean when you go back to use the voucher use that for activities only. Like what? I don’t see why not - just get the insurance and cancel the hotel portion again

Mid December I found $3,510 Caribbean Beach + $150 insurance. I'm sure if someone was more patient they could find slightly better, but the search criteria is terrible.

That gets me four 10 (12?) day tickets and a voucher for $634.10 for 183,005 points.

I see where the disconnect is- you did Park Hopper Plus (which incl. Water parks), right?
No i didn’t realize I could back pedal and add more tix so I did 4 people - 2 nights 10/22-10/24 park hoppers only 10 day tix so I had 3 extra flights in there
I get them back in vouchers so I really didn’t care just kicking myself that I paid $75 more in insurance!
