New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

4:15 AM Hall E want to get into Disney Movies event. Expo staff member who has been here since 9 PM says Gold filled at midnight.

Staff at Hall E entrance says standby is full.

Didn't believe 'em. Walked to C section and they still have standby bands. We're not in taped queue lines, we're in the walking area between show queue and floor queue, but we have bands.

Ouch - people one person ahead of me in the show floor line just figured out they are not in the Studios panel line. They’ve moved to what looks like the new overflow Section B standby queue...

Someone just said they’ve closed the standby line for the studios panel as they would not let him join it,
Man that sucks for him.
What is an overflow que?

I’m in the basement area. Only spotted a couple chairs. No problem with snack, including our bottled beverages. If anyone wants to visit I’m by pillar E63 in a black tee shirt with imagineers listed on the front and next to a black stroller.
Have a good day everyone

My bro and I made it to the Gold line for C at around 11:30pm maybe? (sorry, don’t remember). It did cost me a $25 mini collapsible chair though. The CM that was guarding the entrance to the checkpoint line said I wouldn’t be able to get it back either, oh well.

I guess it’s true that they don’t check to see if you’re a Gold member when handing out wristbands. Not sure if this is a minor occurrence or if it happens most of the time but I guess if it’s the latter the potential for abuse of priority seating can ruin the Gold experience for others in the future.

Edit:

It seems it depends on the CM because when we lined up in Hall d23 again for Disney s Broadway 25th they verified our gold status before handing us our wristbands.

Did they scan your badge when they handed you the first wristband? I know the check in/check out scanners show if your badge was a gold purchase badge.

I went to sleep in Hall E around 9:45 pm Friday. Woke up around 2:30 am and saw no line at the concession. Went back to sleep, woke up at 5:30, and now there's a line. Missed opportunity to get food with no wait.

Speaking of concessions, the concession right outside the entrance to the Expo Arena had zero line yesterday.

After seeing all the chairs this morning in Hall E, I went out at lunch to grab...my chair. Walked back to my hotel. Came back through the east entrance on Katella - NO CHAIRS ALLOWED!!! I had to leave mine in a pile. They said I could get it on the way out.
Oh my behind is sore! From sitting on concrete yesterday in Hall E for Legends then Disney+.

Today I decided to try again and get a fold-up chair in. It worked. Here is my feedback FWIW.

Yesterday I left my chair at security as described above. It was there when I left at 6:30 last night. I came in with the chair bag over my shoulder yesterday. They stopped me and took the chair.

Today I came at 5:40am with the chair at the bottom of my bag. Not over my shoulder. With a sweater on top. The lady checked the bag, saw the chair bag, touched the chair bag then let me through.

So no new soreness for me. 👍

Also I brought it my small suitcase. The security guy almost told me I couldn’t but it is at least 2 inches under the measurement on each side. He didn’t measure but believed me when I told him.

I am one of the chosen ones 😉 and have a stage pass - SP - for Movies. Arrived about 5:50am at Hall E. Went down to B section and walked in and put my bag down in the SP line to save my spot. I am near column E10. Then went back to get a wristband. They did scan my badge, I did have a guest option show up (which I did not sign up for) and I got my B section wrist band.

Looks like there is still lots of space for SPnin B. Maybe half full if they use all the rows.

I bet no one will check wrist bands going into the Hall D23.

I've never been to D23 Expo. Can you guys give me the basics, please?

I'd really like to go to the Parks and Resorts presentation on Sunday (the only day I have a ticket for) but am not sure what time I should get there if I have a Gold membership. If I get there at 8am, will that be OK to get in the Gold priority line? Where do I go to line up? Is there good signage/directions?

I tried to get a reservation but of course didn't get one even though I was in the "queue" right at noon. I'm just a newbie but it seems like they didn't do that right. After that experience, I'm a little nervous about the chaos at the expo.

Thank you for any advice! There needs to be a website for newbies!
If I were you I would plan to show up at security by 5am. I doubt 8am will get you into Parks. 6am maaaaybe.

They didn’t hand out the wristbands until we were led into the Hall E basement.

Edit:
After going to the restroom at 7:30am on my way back I saw a couple guys in standby that arrived after us that were using the exact same chairs that they made me discard. Haha, oh D23 expo, you!
