*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

Okay, the last big Amazon order is done. I also purchased Memory Maker and started our cart for in room groceries. Got a lot of stuff to take care of around the house in the next 3 weeks. My son has camp this week and next week and then it will be crunch time. I'm also figuring that will be when our perception of the passage of time will slow to a snail's pace.

And (warning vent ahead). My daughter's school (which I hadn't mentioned on here because it's infuriating) switched their calendar to align with a local community college. They are the only school in the county doing this so she's going to be on a completely different schedule than my son for Teacher's Workdays and Spring Break. They originally told us they'd get 2 spring breaks, the one that aligned with the college and still have the one that aligned with the rest of the county. The teacher's workdays don't line up either, only major holidays.

The biggest thing though is she has to start August 8th. We asked for a transfer when this was still just an idea because I had other reasons for wanting to leave the school but were denied. They said they would work with families who had vacations planned; so this vacation isn't really my concern. Among other things any future ones are. The two of them having completely different schedules is going to be really disruptive. I've appealed the decision; but having her have to start school a week before the trip is unnerving. I am not one to take my children out of school for vacations not that I have a problem with anyone that does. She's assured me she will make it work; but I was not thinking I'd have to deal with this until she was actually in college.

Recently ours had doubled in price but now they are down some more but still nt as low as what I paid. Makes me glad I purchased as early as I did.

Amen to that! I am trying to no get overwhelmed getting everything done. But at least the time is flying by right now.

I am quickly approaching overwhelmed lol. I have my car completely torn apart. I had expected to have it finished before the weekend. The weekend came and went, and it is Wednesday, and I still have at least one more full day of work to do on it. My mothers car needs my attention, preferably before I leave for vacation. I have shirts that I need to tie dye before we go, and I still have packing to do, and things that we need to find in order to pack them. It's all ok though, I still have 13 days left until we leave lol.

Dang, you guys just reminded me that I need to get my and DW's cars both inspected by the end of the month. I was going to do it before the trip but might just wait now until after.

The trick is to have 14 major projects you have to finish before you leave, that way your last three weeks are constant running around like a chicken with your head cut off, trying to get everything done before you go.
We have a bathroom only half demo'd. My dh takes forever. Even with that project it's still dragging!

Are you flying out of Boston? We are on the N.shore and found flights to be more expensive than normal. I waited awhile before booking them and booked them each one way.
Also from MA...we live on the south shore and noticed Boston prices were high. Luckily we are close enough to Providence and the prices were cheap. Plus I just love the ease of flying out of TF green.

I love PVD too. Worcester is also a good option for me, as I live in between Boston and Worcester (Metrowest). Jet Blue has non stop to MCO out of Worcester, but only once per day in each direction. The return flight is good.. close to 1pm, but going there is 4:30pm. Too late for me!!

I checked a bunch of options for a while and Boston won on price and times. Ended up with Delta 8am going there and noon coming home. Paid $240 RT main cabin w/ one bag. I bought early February.

What shocked me this time around was car rentals. Ive never paid more than $300 for Intermediate SUV 10 -12 days. This time was $460 for 13 days, and Ive been checking daily since February. Started in the $700's. Im glad it dropped, but not enough!! No choice, I have to as our first 4 days are being spent outside of Disney and while at Disney I hop around so much the buses/monorail/boats would be too much time wasted. Lucky for me I booked this trip the day before the parking fees were implemented at the Disney resorts, so Im saving $250 there.

I have my mental packing list done! Nowhere close to where I should be in terms of separating clothes and beginning my "piles". I was off to a good start last month, but then we all started wearing some of the clothes and Im basically back to square one. The only things left in the piles are Disney apparel we only wear to Disney. I have 2 boxes unopened I ordered from the Disney store months ago. I have no idea what is inside anymore. I have bags of sunscreen and toiletries on my dining room table, along with our magic bands. Somewhere is our camera chips (I have digital photo frames I still like to use chips for). Im 99.999999% sure I bought underwater pouches for our phones...just need to find where I put them...same goes for our ponchos.

But, I have 2 more weekends to figure it all out :) Im still working until the day before we leave (a Tuesday). DD has camp until the Friday before and hubby will be working until Monday too. I just changed my work hours to 5am - 1pm so I can see all my daughters after school games going forward (used to work 8 - 4, but she made the HS Volleyball, Basketball and Tennis teams last year as a freshman and I missed a lot of games/matches), but Im not quite used to it yet and the extra time I thought I would have in the afternoon is now spent napping :) !! Hopefully by next week I will have adjusted and try to get to sleep earlier than 11:30.

It's great that you are able to adjust your hours to see all of your daughter's games. You'll get used to the new schedule.

My flight dropped on SW so I got some of my points back. I noticed the 5:30am flight dropped too. It's tempting to switch to that but I'm trying to keep it at the 2pm flight.

I got quite a bit of packing done! I just moved into my new house with my fiance...and I even uncovered some 'missing' Disney shirts! I put all of the things I wont' need this/next week into our new suitcase (from Target; it's amazing), and after I do laundry next week I will pack the final items!

I am going to call Disney to see if they received my room request fax soon.I also want to make sure the 'we're celebrating' is noted on my reservation as well!

I am also planning our Disneymoon! A WDW trip and a 5 day Disney Cruise! We are first time cruisers and we are super excited!

My trip packing was interrupted by tornado warnings for the past two days, with an actual touch down today. This is extremely rare in my corner of Massachusetts; we're not exactly tornado alley. This was big news around here so our local weather guys were going crazy. We had to hide out in the basement for the first time ever, it was quite the adventure, lots of roof and tree damage. Thankfully we still have our power, but there are thousands who will be without power for days. Between the heat and severe weather, I think we're ready for Florida, but please no hurricanes in August.
Glad your safe! I saw news this a.m. and was surprised to see the damage.

I thought I had a lot to do! But somehow you will get it all done. I see a few late nights in your future!

We LOVE Disney cruises! The service, food and entertainment is simply incredible. Lots of fun for kids and adults (we did a mixology class, a beer tasting session and a rum tasting session). Shows at night are incredible. Castaway Cay is so much fun - we've done the swimming with stingrays and parasailing. One time we just walked out the pier and sat at the bar (with a fruity drink) and people watched. You're in for a treat!

I pulled up our 2018 packing list and made the necessary adjustments to fit this trip. I went ahead and made a purchase I'd been putting off. Got us a new luggage set with hard shell bags. I want to make sure I can pack us in 2 bags. We're entitled to 2 bags each on Southwest; but after lots of trial, error and backaches, I learned to pack lighter while my children were young and couldn't help. Now that they can, we're golden.

Yes. Almost 23 years at the same company. Being loyal has its perks! They let me work from home 5 - 8 (during summer, then it will be 5 - 7 during the school year, as I need to drive DD to school at 7) then in the office 8:15 - 1. I also work from home the whole day 2 days per week! Im really liking it but am so tired by 3pm I end up napping for an hour or 2, then cant get to sleep at night until midnight! Yesterday I pushed through, ran errands after work and was in bed by 10:30. Progress! My goal tonight is 9pm. Hopefully I dont get off track over the weekend.
