I thought we had until 10/29 to buy the old stock tix? They are gone now, but on the tix page is a graphic saying the new tix are arriving today and to check back in a few hours.

Dang-it, I was going to buy our tix tonight (old tix at old prices)! I called UT, but they are closed until tomorrow. Anyone know a work-around for the UT site?

Other reliable resellers may have some. Do your research tonight for any phone calls you have to make at sunrise tomorrow.

Maybe try other vendors. Maple Leaf Tickets is mentioned pretty often. I've had good results from Official Ticket Center, and have used them the last 4 years.

I expect ticket sales in general to go sharply down with this change. Even if they make it more obvious that the flexible option is still available, a lot of people will be put off. Of course Disney won't feel it until people have used up the tickets that they bought before the change, but hopefully someone at Disney will notice if there's a big decline of ticket sales. Of course in the end, that might be what Disney wants if they feel they're overcrowded

I personally feel the opposite. If people want to go to Disney, they'll make it work and go to Disney. They'll either save more money or change how they schedule their days, but they won't just not go, in my opinion.

What we need to remember on these boards is that the vast majority of us do not represent the general public at large. Most on here will go to Disney no matter what, but people in general will have a breaking point

The "people in general" that you are talking about probably either won't know there's a difference or have less complicated plans - stay 5 days, buy 4-5 days of park tickets.

I know that before I started posting here, I had no idea people stayed in multiple resorts during one trip, needed 14 days to use a 3 day ticket, etc.

They'll look up the cost, decide if they can afford it, and either go or not go - but I don't think the changes will make a material difference in their decision, personally.

most people I know don't have a clue about Disney. They still think Disney World uses paper fastpasses. ;);)

My sister in law is going in two weeks and staying at one of the Westgate properties. Our other SIL was telling her to just take one of the Westgate buses to MK. I was like just Uber to the Contemporary. Her family is only doing two park days and will probably never go again. Don't waste prime park time riding an off property bus to the park and then dealing with TTC.

I agree.

We’ve hit our breaking point. We’ll go again. But probably every 3 to 4 years as opposed to yearly.

Yes. I am not an expert in disney at all but I did some research before our trip last year and hung out here enough to realize there is so much more to know.
But the majority of people I know say ‘I’m thinking of going to Disney next month’ and think they can still dine with characters.
I tell everyone to come here for a little tutorial.

yep

The last few people I helped had no clue about FPs, no clue about tickets, bought the dining plan because they "didn't want to think about the money later."

Trust me, they could not care less about the details.

I’m thinking of going to Disney next month
I hate when a co-work tells me they are thinking about going to Disney -- in 2 months and they think Harry Potter is at WDW. If it is someone just planning for adults I'll usually tell them to choose universal as you can plan last minute there much easier than Disney. For a family trip I tell them to do Disney properly for a first time - you should plan 6-8 months out. Then i usually refer them to this website.

There are still many people out there who believe they can go to WDW on a whim, which you can but expect limited FP and dining selections and pack your patients for lines. It can be done but if someone asks for my advice I want them to have a good trip, which involves at least a little planning and advance notice.

My SIL/BIL had been to WDW 3 times prior to going with us. They still hadn't seen most of the main attractions! At HS, they had not seen BATB!

It's now past lunch time on the East Coast. We want an update! What did you get?

You are completely right. Most people do not “Know” Disney like many of us do.

I am amazed at the ignorance of some people. Not putting anyone down, just saying they are not informed. You all probably have a similar string of things you have heard or encountered over the years. Mine includes:

A sister-in-law (again, knowing how often my wife and I go), planning a whole trip to go over Christmas break, without talking to us. As she mentioned, everyone goes to relatives at Christmas time, so the parks will be empty. Plus it is Florida, so the weather will be perfect!

Another person telling me how you can buy all the fastpasses at Disney, so you can do all the parks in just a couple of days.

One friend (after spending two days with us at WDW), calling us on the phone at noon the next day as we were driving back home. She was telling us they need our help because they have been at the parks for three hours on their own, and only gone on two rides.

Don’t get me wrong, we are Disney veterans, and have scheduled a trip on Monday night to head down on Thursday night. However, we have also done everything 100 times over, and I know if we do not ride Sorrin’ that weekend because there is a 2 hour wait, it is ok. We will be back another day.

Having said all of that, I keep saying, we only have so much money to budget to our entertainment choices. We know enough tricks that to us, we still call Disney a good value. Then again, our current annual passes were bought in 2017 thru a special sale with DVC. They cost us about half of what they cost the general public now. We shall see what happens beyond the summer of 2019. If enough people ae turned off by the ever increasing cost, perhaps DVC will have another special discount for AP.

If not, well there are plenty of other places that are clamoring for our entertainment dollars. For the last four years, my gross income has gone up 1.60%, 2.36%, 1.54% and 2.77%. That is not too far off from the inflation rate of 0.7%, 2.1%, 2.1% and 1.9% for the same four years.

As a comparison, Premium Annual Pass prices have gone up 3.32%, 6.42%, 4.83% and 9.21%, based on the price in June of each year. There was another increase this month (the second for 2018), adding an additional 4.74%.

If you could not already tell, I am a numbers guy. Clearly the growing cost of Disney is outpacing both the general inflation rate as well as the growth of my income. That is not a good thing…

Does Official Ticket Center still have any other old-style tickets? I would not be surprised if they also are sold out, though.

Oh, just checked, and their site is currently "closed" for maintenance. I'm betting that means they're out of the old tickets, and they're setting up their system for the new tickets.

I'm going to guess that (at least some) the resellers still have a certain supply of the former Magic Your Way tickets.

However, my guess is also that Disney told them (when the current tickets were announced) to cease selling them publicly by today's date.

(That's why we saw the announcement made a couple of weeks ago saying that "October 29" was to be the final date of sales on MYW tickets.)

I have never seen BATB in DHS just because I don't want to. I saw the real thing on Broadway. Just because someone hasn't been to a specific attraction doesn't mean much of anything really.
