I love credit cards so much!

Thank you for your thank you.

I thought it was an offer (really, several offers) too good to pass up myself, so I passed it along. I was so happy to see so many of you jump at the opportunity, and then share your experiences and encourage others to go for it. I know we're all about helping each other find good deals, but I didn't know until now how great this offer worked out for you! And I'm deeply moved. I mean, WOW!!! You're about to cancel your personal Platinums, and you're re-upping most of those benefits with a Business Platinum at just about the right time, and you've got those big college expenses with such a small fee to put toward the MSRs on all these cards at the perfect time. And all of this has no impact on your plans to get under 5/24. (Did you even receive any inquiries on all those business cards?) By my rough count, you and your wife are up about 245k MR from the welcome bonus, spend, and referrals on just the Biz Plat, BGR and Biz Greens, then another 20-30k+ MR from the BBP. That is quite a haul!

And congratulations to your daughter!
Yeah, 6 AmEx charge cards in under a week, no hard pull for me or my wife, and no impact on 5/24. It really is amazing. One additional bonus - 1.5x MR/$ for charges over $5000. Paying $10,000 in a single charge for her tuition/housing should get me 15,000 MR.

My CIP bonus points are now pending!! YAY!! So excited. Not excited to pay my $5000 bill....
Ha, with DHs I also moved over my car payment and cell phone bill, for triple points of course! We had paid $5k towards his car loan payoff to hit the MSR. So he gets on to pay and is like, Why is it $5700??????????

I think someone has booked DCL through Costco here... Do you know how the 2% on travel for Executive members works? Asking for a friend ;)
Yes. As long as you are an executive member before travel you get 2% back on the cruise fare (not port taxes). I'm upgrading this month just for this. Our Alaska cruise is in a few weeks so it's a no-brainer as the cruise fare is over $8000 for two staterooms so the membership increase is more than offset.

I keep meaning to ask.. How do you tell how many points each charge earns on the CIP? On my regular chase cards I can click on the charge and it expands to show points and bonus points. It doesn't do that on the CIP.

I really can’t believe how I was treated on that phone call. I thought Amex was supposed to have higher end service. It’s also super frustrating that they lie and say nothing can be done when something clearly can be done since I’m not getting it overnighted.

Honestly I have never had a good experience with AMEX customer service. They just seem to have an attitude. Maybe when I got the retention offer on SPG personal, but even that wasn’t especially a good experience. Chase is fine and adequate, I have had good experiences with Discover and oddly enough Capital One.

That’s become my new tactic with just about everything... typically something can always be done to correct whatever the issue is, so I just stay on the phone or keep standing there until somebody actually does it :rolleyes1 It makes DH so uncomfortable since he’s so non confrontational but it just cracks me up.

You have to go to the UR site and then review activity. That applies for Chase business cards. I agree, on the personal ones it is a lot nicer!

So what I’ve been doing is buying Amazon gc’s and turning those into Stop and Shop gcs on Amazon for groceries. Amazon has a few grocery store might be an option for you.
how are you seeing stop and shop on amazon? I can only see whole foods or safeway (which we have nothing nearby) this is a good idea, finding other gc to use the gc's on...

My new CSR came yesterday and I already funded a PNC account and bought some gift cards with RetailMeNot app so I am doing well on my MSR!

I decided to look at my Cabana Bay reservation for our October Universal Trip to see if it would save my points booking through my CSR. Looks like it will save me over 13,000 URs! And I think it is a little nicer room (not totally sure on that, don't really care that much as long as it is a suite that holds all my family!)

Anyway, I have 0 URs on my CSR since it is brand new. My plan is to cancel my trip that I booked with my CIP (so my business login) and then transfer to my CSR (personal login) so that I can book with that.

If I am remembering correctly, the refund is pretty immediate. How long and what glitches can I expect when transferring the points from my CIP to my CSR? I am a little nervous that Cabana Bay will disappear from the site soon (it does that from time to time) or that the price will change or something. Want to get it done as soon as possible!

Would love thoughts/tips. Thanks!

OT question for chase tour and travel experts.... I'm wondering if I can use UR to book a park/stay/fly package...I called in today and got a severely lackluster csr who told me no.... any other dp on this? worth bothering HUCA?

And it doesn't matter how you pay, correct?

This is so my relationship too. My SO is working from home today and he was just shaking his head when I was saying this is unacceptable. When I act like this is public he just walks away. I don’t even think I’m that rude. In high school I worked customer service jobs and know how people can be.

After I got off the phone I was like look my attitude gets stuff done. I hate being snobby, but its unfortunately necessary. If I had to wait 10 days my family members 4.5k purchase wouldn’t be able to go on my card.

Select AA, Delta, or SW for your airline credit benefit, buy gift card(s) to trigger the $200 credit, and it codes 5x MR for (free) 1,000 MR.

Looking for advice to maximize rewards on purchasing a pool (over $10K). I currently have the Chase Freedom, Disney, IHG. I've had and closed the Chase Sapphire Reserved about a year ago. I'm over my 5/24 for about 6 more months and can't really wait for the pool at this point (long story), but have excellent credit. Ideally I'd like a card that has 0% for at least 12 months. doable?

Ouch! I feel for you! Have you considered DiscoverIt? No interest for 14 months and 1% cash back and matched at the end of the year. I know there are other cards out there but I enjoy occasionally a cash back card :)

I have never gotten A boarding when checking in 24 hours early. Did not even know it was possible. One time I checked in 24 hours early and got Cs! And wouldn't you know, we still sat together near the very back of the plane. On our way home we got late Bs, like maybe B50-54 and there was nothing together. NOTHING. So it very much depends. I guess maybe the 2nd plane was smaller, not sure. So only 1 time have I not been able to sit next to at least 1 of my party. I am a nervous flyer and very much need a knee or hand to squeeze during take off and landing. I think my family might like it better if they don't sit next to me. lol
I would be very upset if Dh and I didn’t get to sit together. We don’t care where we sit as long as we are together.

I've spent the last hour just catching up on this thread, and I think I missed something about this. Is there a way to get the $200 AMEX travel credit and use it for something else (like an actual flight)? If so, can you please tell me more. We don't tend to use up all the credit each year since we don't check bags when we fly

One last thing, there are scattered DPs that cheap flights, like under $100, may get reimbursed under the Amex airline fee credit, but they can be hyperspecific blips to the more general pattern above.

I can only speak for Delta (as maybe some of you know...) but I just used pay with miles and my platinum to pay for the slightly extra charge (ie 40,000 skypesos and $150 more or something like that) and I was surprised to see the $150 credit from my Amex Platinum. So if you're a delta flier know that's one of the weird loopholes.

Do they give OBC too?

Hello, everyone. I'm back from a 14 day trip to San Diego/DLR/LA. After hemorrhaging $$$, but having a great time AND saving thousands of dollars by using my SPG / Jetblue / United points (even flew home first class which was such an INCREDIBLE experience I never want to go to the back of the plane again!) It's time to ask for advice on my next credit card move.

Goals: Since they are not set in stone, I'm not sure what my next move should be. I have 30k miles in my Delta account and I'm looking into booking a first class flight to Europe next year for the four of us. I love SPG since those points are so versatile.

What should my next move be? Thanks so much!
