I love credit cards so much!

Our October trip is our first time flying with them. We normally fly with frontier because it’s so cheap

You will be fine with SW. I've flown them since I was 7yo, and seriously never had any kind of problem at all (maybe an hour delay at most...ever!). They've been so accommodating over the years when we needed to get in to Orlando early cause there was a hurricane going to disrupt flights, or in the case of Irma, we had to move flights to get out early. We've accidentally booked a kid on a different flight and didn't realize until the week before and they moved her, no change in fee despite a much higher fare at that time. I love SW!

Now, Frontier...oh my...I only fly Frontier if I have to. They have changed our flights by hours the night before and not even contacted us. We've been delayed for 9+ hours with them and received no communication. If you are used to Frontier, you'll find SW a breath of fresh air :)

Since I'm just back from Hilton Head, I will say that I do like the Westin Hilton Head. We didn't stay this trip but we usually spend a couple of nights there. It's a bit stuffy, but I barely notice. They've got nice pools and of course the fabulous for little kids beach. As for things to do on the Island, eat, eat, and play mini golf, go horse back riding on the sand, go to the movies, dolphin watching cruises, kayaking, fishing excursions, tons of golf, shop, eat some more (about 250 places to eat) tour historical areas, do a turtle walk, take side trips to Savannah and Charleston. Tour the two nature preserves - I think these are better in cooler weather. Go to Shelter Cove for fireworks in summer and take little kids to see Shannon Tanner sing and play songs geared to them on an open air stage. Shop and eat there, while you stroll along the yachts. I also noticed they are now renting these little personal sized boats that carry one or two people and are not seadoos. They looked interesting. There are also numerous Marriott properties here but I've never stayed at one.

Thank you! I will keep this in mind. We are from Charleston, though, so I am not sure my parents would be happy with me if I spent a week at Hilton Head instead.

In other news....WE ARE MOVING BACK!!!!! DH talked to the boss a couple weeks ago and got the ok. We are going to wait til next May though so ds10 can do 5th grade at his current school. He has been there since K. Figured sincewill change schools for 6th anyways that may be a good time to move.

Does CF code 5x at Costco and sams gas? The other stations are so much more expensive that they aren’t worth going to even with 5x.

Ugh, I just called the Chase status line and it transferred me to a person again! I just hung up this time but I wonder if my SSN is now flagged or something and I'll get transferred every time I try to call in. I guess I just have to be patient and wait for an e-mail about my Marriott Premier Plus app.

Ok, yes I will go ahead and do that as well. Can I find the numbers online or do I have to submit in writing or something?

Hmm, Ok so I just checked and my credit limit right now is 81,000. The bulk of it coming from my Disney VISA of all things. I like holding on to that card, but I could close my Citi AA card, although I have some miles I haven't used yet. Besides that I could close some smaller store cards but they won't make a big dent. My BarclayCard I could also close as I am more interested in getting the Chase Sapphire cards.

So here are my questions:

1) Regardless of what way I go next, is $81K to high a limit.. do I need to close something first? I'm thinking it would have to be the BarclayCard if I did as I have unused miles still on AA that I need....
2) If I can get the AU's off to put me at 4/24 (or even better 3/24), do I:
Plan A- go for the CSR alone NOW so that I can use it to book my DVC rental which as to be booked in 2 weeks. Go for CFU or CU in a few weeks?
Plan B- put the DVC rental on my Barclaycard (only gets 2%), wait the 30 days and double dip the CSR/CIP? This only works if I don't close the Barclay Card.. if I do, I would have to put it on Disney which is only 1%...

HELP!!! I am starting to get so frustrated... getting divorced is stressful enough, haha. I just need this figured out.

I’d reduce the credit limit on your Disney card...you can either call chase or sm them...when I did it the reduction was done immediately

1a. Is that 81k all on Chase cards? It sounds like not. Chase is looking at the amount of credit they have extended you when they make risk determinations, not the credit you have with other issuers. So add up all the credit from Chase cards and then look at the ratio of CL to income. Some other folks can chime in with recommendations but what I have stuck in my head is be less than 50% CL to income when applying. I think some recommendations are around 30%. Also what they have already extended you may be a good indication of what they are comfortable with.
In addition to that, Chase won't move credit from a personal card to a business card. So if you were going to apply for the CIP again you'd have to reduce your CL's in advance. If skipping it and just moving on to personal cards you could maybe offer to move credit around if denied so you may not need to preemptively reduce CL's.
1b. Don't close anything! :) As a few others have mentioned already, just ask to have your CL lowered. You can do it through the Chase Secure Message feature if you don't want to call. I did that the other month and they were super responsive (most were completed same day).

2. A. If you only get to 4/24 and get approved for the CSR then you're at 5/24 and won't be able to get the CF or CFU until something is removed. Also, Chase has a 2/30 rule for personal card applications. So you should be ok with one card but need to wait until 30 days after the CIP application for another card.
If you wait until 30 days after (really, 31 :) ) then you could double dip the CSR and CF/CFU on the same day. But that still puts you at or over 5/24 and you'd be shut out from the CIP if you were really interested in it.
2. B. That's an interesting thought there with the double dip of CSR/CIP. That'd put you at 9k in spend within 3 months; without the DVC rental is that doable? If you attempt it, you'd have to do the CIP first as business cards have a 1/30 rule.

I keep getting denied for bank accounts. The most recent has been Elements Financial. I thought I’d open them now since they are Chex sensitive and I haven’t been hiting banks hard yet. SO got approved though. Seems like an easy $200 bonus. He had to pay $5 to join their credit union or something to open the account, but that’s worth it for the $200 bonus.

Started listing the rest of my pile of things on Ebay... that buyer accusing me of outrageous shipping ended up contacting Ebay to cancel her bid.

Anyways, last year I bought one of the Disney Dooneys for myself. Lots of people were having orders cancelled for that bag, so I ended up buying it for $275 through the Shop Disney site and $215 through the Shop Parks app with my AP discount. I ended up receiving both of my orders. They were going to charge me $30+ to send back the extra one, and I was busy so I let it sit and figured I'd sell it online instead because it was so popular.

Imagine my surprise when I pull up similar listings this morning and it's selling for $400-$500  I almost feel bad...

With the 3 credit bureaus, you can go online and complete the dispute form. You select the account that you want to dispute, put the same reason in that you did with Chase and the credit bureau does its thing. I did it for the accounts that DH and I had been AUs on and it was extremely easy. Two of them were really quick and the third one took like 3 weeks but my record was cleaned up and that's all I cared about.

@SouthFayetteFan where in captiva are you staying? I hear good things about captiva/sanibel and am on the hunt for a good beach vaca. We love Sandestin, but have that booked for October. Need something new for later in the year.

Need help from you churners...name your favorite Marriott/SPG Resort. Looking for a nice place to redeem our package. We love the beach but are open to other things. Want a resort atmosphere and lots of things to do. Anywhere SW flies is a plus, but open to other places. Kid ages 2, 8, 10 (maybe 19 too). TrVeling from Nashville, so nothing in bora bora etc.

We rent a house on VRBO. This trip is largely covered by my parents (it’s us, my parents and my sister and her husband each year). I LOVE Captiva, it is the most relaxing vacation I’ve ever been on but it’s not exactly a good “churn for free” trip since the best way to stay (in my opinion) is to rent a house. Of course the flights are still free though :)

I got an email as well for my December flight...but the only thing that changed was the flight number..
Hopefully they will move you to the non stop flight
I also got an email with flight numbers changing (but no time change). Very rare and weird!

that usually means that want verification. talk to them.

If it's a personal card and it's your app what are you concerned with? Recon is brutal if you're doing a biz app, but not for personal apps. I had an extensive-ish personal recon and he walked through everything I put on the app but that was pretty much it. I'd go ahead and say hi to the person and tell them you're calling to find out the status of your Marriott Premier Plus app.

How do you like Frontier ....our small local airport is 10 minutes from our house SW has been there for years so I’ve always hoarded SW points and gotten the companion pass. But Frontier came in recently so interested in,them as well
I don’t mind them because their flights are so cheap. Just go in with really low expectations. We’ve had a flight delayed for hours before leaving Orlando. We’ve also been told they oversold the flight by 7 passengers before so 7 people had to volunteer to not go on the plane. We swore never again but we continue to fly with them because it’s so cheap.

We pretty regularly fly with frontier so I guess southwest will be a nice surprise. The only reason I like frontier more is because they fly non stop out of our local airport. With southwest we have to drive to Chicago and that’s a 5 hour drive so we have to stay overnight the night before.

Just entered 2 player mode! We met the spend on my CIP and the 80,000 bonus points are listed under earnings on next statement. So I was able to convince DH to apply for one too. He did yesterday, got the 30 day message. I called the line this morning and it said he was approved!!! Woo Hoo!

Thank you!! I don't think I am going to go for the CIP again.. I was already sort of uncomfortable with the business side of it and I think I'll just get my feet wet with some personal cards first and re-evaulate in a year or so. So my credit line currently with Chase is 30% of my income, but I can easily reduce the Disney Visa line anyway as I never would ever use that much. I'll go ahead and do that, and also dispute the AU accounts to get them removed off my credit report ASAP.

So then my last remaining question is, do I go for the CSR alone now so that I can use it for my DVC rental, or do I put the DVC rental on another card, wait the 31 days and then try and double dip the CSR/CSP. That's $8K which I can easily do with all the furniture I need to buy. I guess I am just questioning the value of the double dip.. its nice to have the double sign up bonus but then you don't really need both cards right? Can you downgrade the CSP to a CFU or CU?
