I love credit cards so much!

I was able to get us on the non-stop flight, the agent was unclear why we were not just moved to the nonstop flight. Thankfully, no additional fees or points needed to be paid. If there were I would have pushed back as I made these reservations the day the flight schedule opened and flights since have just gone up. I wrote a message via email to southwest, as this is so atypical and not in the best interest of the passengers, hoping to hear a reply.

Great news !

@Lain So I just tried MPX app again to make an online purchase. Got the same error message. Tried two different cc. Wondering if it is an android issue.

You can submit your request to the credit bureaus, takes about an hour of your time. Takes a few days to get it removed.
Ok, yes I will go ahead and do that as well. Can I find the numbers online or do I have to submit in writing or something?

I'm going to 2nd @Lain here. When my father was denied his CIC in Jan recon said too many cards and he had hadn't had his Chase business card long enough (CIP in Aug was his first), the letter said something similar, he eventually found it was a credit limit issue and Chase lending was willing to shuffle some credit limit from his cip to open his cic. He was at 90k with Chase at the time. (Yikes! I know! If I knew then what I know now... suffice it to say after egregious amounts of talking I've gotten him to drop that to 65k for CIP#2 which he'll go for any day now. It's recommended to be no higher than 60-70k when you apply no matter what your income fyi.)

Hmm, Ok so I just checked and my credit limit right now is 81,000. The bulk of it coming from my Disney VISA of all things. I like holding on to that card, but I could close my Citi AA card, although I have some miles I haven't used yet. Besides that I could close some smaller store cards but they won't make a big dent. My BarclayCard I could also close as I am more interested in getting the Chase Sapphire cards.

So here are my questions:

1) Regardless of what way I go next, is $81K to high a limit.. do I need to close something first? I'm thinking it would have to be the BarclayCard if I did as I have unused miles still on AA that I need....
2) If I can get the AU's off to put me at 4/24 (or even better 3/24), do I:
Plan A- go for the CSR alone NOW so that I can use it to book my DVC rental which as to be booked in 2 weeks. Go for CFU or CU in a few weeks?
Plan B- put the DVC rental on my Barclaycard (only gets 2%), wait the 30 days and double dip the CSR/CIP? This only works if I don't close the Barclay Card.. if I do, I would have to put it on Disney which is only 1%...

HELP!!! I am starting to get so frustrated... getting divorced is stressful enough, haha. I just need this figured out.

Has anyone heard anything about not receiving SPG points on purchases between June 24-29? When I look online, I don't see any points for purchases during that time period, but starting June 30th I'm seeing them for recent purchases. I hope this isn't like what happened at the beginning of April, because although it's now July (when they said I'd receive the points), I still don't have my points from purchases made April 3rd.

Yay! I just realized that my United account is super old and has my maiden name... so does my CSR so I can transfer URs in, but I didn't want to be stuck only booking in my account name! I was having problems with that on SPG.

Ugh, name changes... hahaha. I'm glad I started this hobby after I changed my name! But yeah, I just booked two tickets under DH's points and put my name in as the second traveler. No issues.

I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say. I use MPX on my iPhone, never tried on Android. I've recommended MPX to several people here and haven't heard as many problems. MPX definitely doesn't seem as sensitive as Gyft. The server does go down occasionally but then comes back again. Try again later? I don't know if I'd keep hammering it because that may lock up your account.

Our October trip is our first time flying with them. We normally fly with frontier because it’s so cheap

How do you like Frontier ....our small local airport is 10 minutes from our house SW has been there for years so I’ve always hoarded SW points and gotten the companion pass. But Frontier came in recently so interested in,them as well

Only going to chime in about the credit limits, you don't have to close the cards to reduce the limits, should be able to message chase and reduce the limits of your disney visa. Chase only looks at credit extended by Chase so would only need to lower your chase card limits.

I postedthis on the disney GC thread, but it got lost in the SB conversation shuffle...

Does anyone know if the 20%off amazon promo with Amex rewards is a one time use (as in I should spend $500 at once) or is it cumulative over multiple orders up to $500? I need sunscreen and don't want to waste the promo and miss $95 in savings to save $5 on this !@#$ expensive sunscreen (I have a sensitive skinned redhead and sunscreen is $25/bottle!)

THANKS!

Thanks. Yeah, I'm leaning towards holding off until I can do the full $500. Or at least $60 - both DH and I qualified for the $30 off $60 too.

As for the sunscreen, at least $25 is the big bottle...

I thought GC were excluded? We need some for Disney, but other than getting a Visa GC, I don't think any they sell can be converted. DH would be happy with Starbucks though!

We used the deal to pay $400 for $500 worth of Whole Foods gift cards last week. I thought it was just Amazon gift cards that were excluded.

I can be the DP. I got in early on the promo when it dropped and generally followed it through the "evolution" as Amazon probably caught on to what people were buying (i.e. Amazon GCs). When it dropped, I was able to buy $400 of Amazon GCs and $100 Whole Foods for $400.

Then, when word came out that the promo was working a second time for the same account (presumably after Amazon had to perhaps rewrite a few things once they caught on to the "scheme"), I went in again and was able to get another $300 of third party GCs (SB and Whole Foods again) with the 20% promo applied AGAIN and using the Amazon GCs I bought from the first time :scared1: Since I didn't use the full $500 max (I have a hoard of GCs and no matter what the deal was, I didn't need THAT many GCs I thought at the time), and as I was reading some more, others started reporting the promo appeared to be cumulative, I figured I'd give it another try (nothing to lose), I figured I could give my mom some WF GCs since she loves shopping there. I bought the remaining $200 in WF GCs again, but this time, it was hard coded that I couldn't apply my Amazon GCs anymore, BUT the promo applied again. I made a last test purchase just to see if it was capped, and surely, $100 was max, but to churn the first set of Amazon GCs and utilize the 20% twice and on a cumulative basis.:cool1:

Have you considered reducing your credit limit on the Disney card? You can do it by SM and it is fast (mine was done in a few hours) and easy. Just tell them what you want to limit to be.

Yay my very first MR are finally showing in my AMEX account!! I got the bonus points in the same month that I met the MSR. They were pending weeks before I had even spent the $5000.

That's... frankly shocking. Usually Amex makes you wait until after your second statement following meeting MSR for your first MRs. Congrats!

Thanks. No worries. I don't blame you. Just trying to figure it out. I was using DHs United account to log into MPX as I want most of our points there since he will get the United CC before me. I logged out of his and logged me in and it worked - at first. Still had a minor issue.

  • After logging me into MPX I successfully bought the gift card.
  • When checking out kept getting error message that gift card was not valid.
  • I called the 800 number that was on the gift card on MPX. After inputing the numbers it said that the gift card was "now active."
  • Went back to the merchant website and it was fine.
This is ok for online purchases but I would not have been able to do this in store. I might just use it for online purchases for now.

I know, I was shocked too, especially after what you guys told me. Maybe I should quick move them to Delta before they decide I shouldn't have them yet LOL.

You could reduce the credit limit on some cards. I have my Disney Visa set at $5500 because I will never put much spend on it. You can secure message Chase from their website.

Also, you are not divorced yet (as far as I've read?). You can claim total household income until then. This doesn't make your husband responsible as he would not be on your cards.

It takes a bit for these limits to take effect.

If you are getting turned down for cards right now, you may have to work on stuff to get approved. Having been divorced, I've been there done this and have had to restart my own financial life. It didn't happen in a few weeks or a few months. It takes time, patience, and paying attention to not getting in debt, or having late payments or huge balances. Good luck to you! It will come together.

@Lain -wondering. It was my DH's MPX account, but my credit cards. After his CSP arrives I will have to test his MPX again with his card (he has other CC - but we don't use them).

Edit - DH's CSP just came. I activated and paid a tution installment with it and it posted as pending. Then added it to DH's MPX and tried $10 starbucks just to see - it did not work. Same error message. Guess i will just use my MPX account.
