I love credit cards so much!

Offhand, I believe the account needs to be open at least 14 days to purchase, 30 days to transfer.
You are right! I just found the answer to my own question: "Starpoint purchases can be made by members whose accounts have been active for a minimum of 14 days. Accounts that are less than the required 14 days in age will have the purchase attempt cancelled." Ugh. Guess I won't be able to take advantage of that for DD as it ends May 31st. I'll miss it by 3 days. I'm a little worried that the transfer I just did for DD's Starwood points to my account won't go through either. I purchased points for his account and for mine, and I'm attempting to pool them all into mine. From reading, it looks as if there may be a problem with this. I though @calypso726 had been doing this, but I probably read wrong.

So if I just want one or two more cards I don't need to worry about getting the business cards if I find it a bit too much at the moment? And also what is 5/24? Is that how many cards you can apply for over the course of 2 years?

ETA - I'm already learning stuff here. I think I need to pay more attention to the promos from the one card I do have. I know we got a lot of points from the Whole Foods bills at one point, and a few other places. Guess it all starts there.

If the business cards seem overwhelming, then don't worry about them for now. I can see how you feel the way you do but really, the business cards are no different. You apply, spend money and earn points. Just like personal cards, except business cards are not reported on your personal credit report. Just something to keep in mind as you may warm to the idea over time.

Chase has a rule that applies to many of their cards. Chase will restrict you to getting no more than 5 cards in a 24 mo period (this includes all personal cards, not just Chase ones). This is why re recommend going for Chase cards FIRST. No other bank has a rule like this, so get Chase cards first and then hit other banks. When we reference your '5/24' or '*/24', we are referring to how many personal cards you have opened in the last 24 mos. Most business cards do not count in the x/24 number, which is why we like to go for business cards.

:offtopic: I just wanted to say hi from China and share a couple of pics with the nicest thread on the Dis and my fellow travel hacking peeps! But I will make it relevant. The number one travel hacking reason I love Adventures by Disney is because we can pay our trips with Disney gifts cards. We use the Ink+ and Freedom to get them at 5x UR/$ or Amex offers that get us discounted Disney gift cards.

When I saw the most recent 35% sale announced which after I saw my beloved SPG card was going to be destroyed for non bonus category spending I decided to buy points. I saw that accounts had to be opened at least 14 days before they could buy points and 30 days before the could transfer them to another member of the same household. Fortunately, some family members decided to “move in” and opened new accounts. About 2 weeks or so later these family members decided to buy SPG points. I think they will pay rent by transferring those points to my account next month.

I’m joining the buying SPG points group while the bonus is still live. I do not know specifically what I will use the points on right now but I see the value when I look at potential redemption options I’m thinking of so I’m doing it. Now- what card is this supposed to go on?! I’m 99% sure the best card is an SPG Card (does biz or personal matter) because that way there will be some bonus earn, right?
*hahaha, had not even seen @calypso726 ’s latest post yet

If you don’t mind my asking what section of the wall are you at? It looks amazing and completely deserted of tourists! (I was literally mowed down by dozens of like 90 year old Koreans in a tour group, the crowd at the wall outside Beijing left an impression on me.)

ETA: I was at Badaling. Bad mistake on our part- this is why you Advetures By Disney folks!

We skipped the Wall when we were in Beijing because of reports of crowds and touristy surroundings. Someday I am going to go back to China to see the wall (and the Harbin Ice Festival).

The sign in the area says Mutianyu but I’m not sure if that is right as far as location. I will ask the guides when we land. Just boarded our next Air China flight in economy. I’m never complaining about Spirit airlines again LOL

Oooh! Ice festival sounds awesome! We totally got lucky with the lack of crowds and the amazing weather!

Purchasing SPG points from Points .com will earn you 2x Starpoints on a SPG card or 3x UR on the CIP.

For the Kroger shoppers ... there are 200 bonus fuel points when you buy a Disney gift card. Hoping it stacks with the 4x fuel points tomorrow.

I did get my $15 credit from Sams today. Bought another gift card using $30/$30/$82.98 walmart gift card. I had the Sams AmEx offer on 4 cards. Love saving money on Disney!

Thanks! Is this a coupon you need to load (the bonus 200) or just a promotion? I didn't see this in the digital coupon section of their site.

LOL!!! It's the transferring bought points in that I'm worried about. Since I already bought points this year, I'm not sure the bought points from DD or DH will transfer into my account. Definitely keep me posted if those "rent" payments go through when you've already bought points this year! :)

I bought points too from my own account and so did Wally who had his family members “move in” too. I will let you know!

Does this mean you have a rental “business” now? :lmao:

I think points purchased on other accounts and then transferred to yours is fine. Those other accounts wouldn’t be able to purchase a gift of points for you because your account already bought points for the year.

Cone of shame from that burn.

D'oh, not the way I wanted to get a cute doggie pic on this thread :sad1:.

I've been slacking on surveys. I need to put something new together. I also need to step away from r/churning, lol - the referral drama has been crazy there today. I think they're going to make a change that severely impacts my support haul from there in a negative way though.

Double D'oh. And this is why we can't have nice things. I had to step away earlier and haven't got back to it, but it hadn't seemed disastrous yet. And while it did indeed seem like pretty conclusive evidence of gaming the system against the rules, probably a better way to go about getting that shut down without all making it a mess (like it seemed the mods wanted to avoid in the first place) and producing negative impacts to the rule followers. Wonder if the folks that brought it up and fanned it are second guessing themselves yet. Guess I'll have to tune in to see what's happening in the next episode. :)
