Disney Gift Card Deals

So Cal - one of the stores was the Target on Harbor Blvd, just down the street from Disneyland.

I thought I had it made at self check out, but the register wouldn't allow the transaction to go through without employee approval. I've never had that happen before, and I use Target gift cards at self checkout all the time.

I was surprised that the response was so consistent everywhere I went yesterday, but there was no way any of the cashiers I dealt with were going to let it happen.

If anyone in the area knows of a store that's still allowing GC to GC purchases please let me know.

.

Well, that's concerning. I most recently purchased a GC with GC at my Brea Target within the last 2 weeks. I was planning to go to Target today and I can report back after I go.

Fingers crossed it's just some district manager or something that's made that call for those stores!

That could be. All 3 stores I got shot down at were within a few miles of each other. Harbor Blvd in Garden Grove and both stores on 17th St in Santa Ana for those who know the area.

I tried another store today and it was no problem there. Thankfully!

Which store was it that you had success with? I'll need to take note in case my Brea or Fullerton Targets don't work out.

Sorry if this was already asked but I'm new. I saw that Chase Freedom is offering 5% back on Apple Pay transactions, so I thought I'd be slick and buy Disney GCs at BJ's with Apple Pay. I don't have a membership but have read you can purchase the cards online with no membership, but at checkout, I do not see an Apple Pay option. Do you have to have a BJ's membership to use Apple Pay?

I know there are some other Chase Freedom users here. I just logged in to redeem some points because my statement recently closed. They have Best Buy cards available to redeem with your points for 10% off. I got as many as I can. Usually the sale cards aren't anything I need, but this will be nice!

Just got back from my Brea store (which is just a few miles from the GG store on Harbor) and I purchased about $250 worth of miscellaneous items including a $100 Disney Gift Card. Cashier didn't flinch when I handed her 2 Target gift cards. Phew. I'll be sure to stay away from those 3 stores.

I don't recall ever seeing an Apple Pay option on BJ's website but it is an option in-club. We usually pay by Apple Pay when we shop in-club which I know doesn't help you much.

The Targets closest to me no longer allow Target GC to purchase Disney GC as of this summer per a district manager policy. This is out in the Temecula/Murrieta area. Sounds like some of the Southern California district managers are getting the same idea.

Ugh. I had this same issue with Walgreens' Southern California stores. While everyone else was able to churn them throughout the country, I got shut out at several in L.A. and Orange County. I hope this isn't the case with Target. I was successful today doing it but I fear it won't be long if other O.C. and now Riverside Targets are banning it.

The only positive I see is that I shop at Target A LOT. So being stuck with several hundred dollars worth is not that big of an issue.

Just picked up a $50 gift card. I was asked for the access codes so I just used 2 $25 cards. Customer service was packed and some man was throwing a tantrum over something so I didn’t explore the gift card combining option. I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t combine all my $5 gift cards. I get those from Bing and really don’t want to change those out for something else since that’s $10 every month towards my vacation fund.

It'll be annoying but they know their system is making them do it. They use $5 and $10 gc as incentive to buy stuff so what's to keep someone from saving those up for months until they decide they want to use all $100 of it. I would just make sure you have time and have everything you need and go for it. If you are concerned go to customer service to do the transaction since stuff there always takes longer and then you won't irritate someone in a regular line. It wouldn't keep me from redeeming for Target cards anywhere that I redeem them.

There's another Sam's club offer for new members offering a $15 gift card, chicken, pizza, and cookies. I'm trying to sign up for it but at some point in the past I had a free Sam's club trial so it's recognizing my email address??

I didn't realize that. That's for reporting! I might just spend the extra 500 on a Walmart card instead.
The WM card is the same way! I usually got Starbucks to use at Disney but since I have way too much on the Starbucks card already (only really use it at Disney for water/sodas) I decided to get WM. I got an email with the number and said I could use it online or print it out and take it to a store. But there is no bar code, my WM has a hard enough time running the print outs with the bar code I think I would give the cashier a panic attack if I showed up with the Kelloggs one ;)

The easiest ones are probably the ones you can combine (like Starbucks) or use online only (Amazon).

Has any one used the Target Gift Card Trade-in program? (https://targettrade-in.com/Online/Home/GiftCardProgram.rails) I don't do any intense churning so I wouldn't use it for that, but I am thinking it would get me more value out of a few GCs I have for places I don't go (as long as my Target still allows using Target GC to purchase Disney GC, which has been the case so far).
Never heard of it. Let us know how it goes if you try it.

This theoretically allows for Amazon > Lowes > Target > Disney

a long time ago... think it was in pgs 100-200 of this thread... i remember someone bringing up this and saying it operated much like the gift card exchange machine in the stores. is that coin star. you get a partial value for the gift card on a target gift card.

edit to add: here is the old thread on it. https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...for-a-target-gift-card.3514771/#post-55845908
