Where to get an actual ticket not a voucher?

We are getting ready for our 8th annual 1 day Food & Wine visit. Every time in the past we have had at least one of us who ends up with a voucher that we have to turn in to get a ticket - this always takes forever at Guest Services. We just called WDW and they said we could buy a ticket online, print it out and we could take that straight to the turnstiles (or whatever they are now - tap styles?) He said they would scan our print out and we could go right in with no stop at Guest Services or the ticket booth. Does that sound right? If not what is my best bet for getting an actual ticket - AAA office? Call Disney? At the stops on the turnpike?

We are staying at the Dolphin so will not be getting magic bands although I do have tons of old ones if that would help at all.

Thank you!

If you have a MB linked to your MDE account, you can buy a ticket online from Disney, then link the ticket number to your MDE account. You'll never need to stop at Guest Services because you won't need a hard ticket.

Ooh - thank you - I m going to try that! The CM said we could go right to the entrance with the e-ticket but when I went to buy it it says, "bring your ticket and credit card to entrance of park and you will get a ticket - if you have a magic band go straight to park entrance." I feel like I will somehow get stuck in that long, hot line at the IG once again if I do that. ;)

One more question - if my friends do not have magic bands can I give them some of my old ones so they can link them to their accounts or are they not transferrable like a normal ticket?

You can't transfer them.

Thanks, I didn't think so but wasn't sure. They don't have bands so I guess we are going to experiment with the e-ticket!

First, there is NO SUCH THING as a tap-stile).

Now, if you have an e-ticket (with bar code on it) you can go right to the Touch-Point, the CM will scan the e-ticket and issue a hard card media for that e-ticket. You MAY be required to produce the credit card that was used for that purchase (random request) and you can cover up all but the last 4 #'s of that card (for security) as the verification. Verification is very random so it is not an every person occurrence. No need to go to GR for redeeming the e-ticket.

Process takes 20 to 30 seconds or so to process.[/QUOTE]

Buy a ticket through the Disney website. The ticket will automatically be linked to your magic band.

Or, if you prefer, buy it through UCT and link it that way.

@11290- thank you!! That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I know the phone CMs aren't always right so I was hoping to confirm here. And I knew there was a new name for the tough points but I hadn't been in a while so I just made up the name tap styles. :)

We are only getting one day tickets so can't do Undercover Tourist this time.

If you buy through the Disney website, the tickets will automatically go into your My Disney Experience account. You have to create identities for your friends and family members within your MDE account, and then assign a ticket to each person. If you have a Magic Band assigned to an identity in your MDE account, that Magic Band will work for the ticket assigned to that identity. Once a Magic Band is assigned to an identity, it cannot be switched to someone else. If you have an unused ticket in your MDE account, you can reassign it to a different identity in your MDE account.

If you buy a ticket from a different company, you can enter the ticket info into your MDE account.

If you buy a Magic Band, you can enter its information into your account.

If you book an onsite hotel, you can go into your MDE account and customize a Magic Band for each person on your resie. Customize means choose a color and tell them what to imprint inside the Magic Band so that you can tell them apart.

Actually, it won't ALWAYS be linked to the MB. We generally see a LOT of times when guests say their ticket is on the band and our handhelds will say "no media attached", meaning the ticket is not registered to the band. Takes a bit of time for the GR@PE's (Guest Relations @ Park Entry) to sort out on their handhelds to correct it but it does happen a lot. I personally have never had an e-ticket conversion fail since we got that capability a couple of years ago.

If the ticket is in MDE, it is linked to the band. Any time I have purchased a ticket through the Disney website, it has shown up in MDE without me having to do anything.

Thanks everyone, since my friends have no bands and I don;t have any unused tickets we are just going to get the e-tickets and print them out. I do have tons of old bands both with my information and some from trips I took with my extended family. I had them leave them with me in case I ever got around to figuring out how to do that thing where you could use extra bands to make day-of Fps but I think it's too late for that now. Doesn't matter for this trip because we go for one day, do Food & Wine, ride Soarin then go home the next day. :)
