Disney Gift Card Deals

This is great info! I had no idea. Do they just credit that card back the 5% or cash back or how does it work exactly? I'd like to find that policy in writing in case I have any push back. I just bought a $100 gc with my Discover It and would love to get an additional 5% back.
Having worked for Target, I had never seen such a policy. I know it had been done time to time in good faith when there was an issue say you hit your credit limit or there was a return and you no longer had the correct credit line for your exchange. Something like that.

If you attempt this while trying to purchase $5,000 in gift cards, I would imagine Target would say no to applying a 5% discount, and would then enforce a gift card limit. It seems like these days if I try to walk out with more than $500 of any gift card, I get stopped in my stores. I now just purchase them online.

I didn't get any cash back from my Bj's gift card purchases from ebates, I guess it doesn't work on gift cards.

Nope, it seems as though all of the cash back sites I have tried have caught on/caught up on the gift card thing as of now.

If you go to the customer service desk and show them your RedCard you can pay with any other credit/debit card and they’ll honor the 5%. Some employees don’t know about that policy so you might have to get a manager. Anytime you call the RedCard phone number for card issues they’ll mention that as an option if your card isn’t working (if hit the daily limit, etc.)
Nope. “The 5% discount will apply only to the purchase amount tendered to your REDcard.”

Nope, only if you do it online. I did it twice this week with $500 worth of gift cards and paid with a discover card :-)

They just treat it like a coupon for 5% off at the end of the receipt and then you pay with any card you want. It’s not like paying with the RedCard where the 5% comes off after you swipe the card. It only works in person so you can’t do it with their website. If they seem confused at first you just have to say you called the RedCard number and they instructed you to go to the customer service desk to get 5% off the transaction. My daily limit for my RedCard debit card is super low so I always have to do this in order to pay with a different card.

Yeah, I’ve only done $500 and it’s worked. It makes me nervous to spend more than that on gift cards in one transaction.

That would be unusual.

No false statements, all of it started simply from the phone rep telling me that info after hitting my daily debit limit and then never having a Target employee inform me it wasn't an option. I've done it numerous times in 2 states without any issues. No worries though. Do what you want with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

BJs complaint here.

In August I ordered $2000 worth of $100 giftcards. They were all activated except 1.
Since then I have been dealing with the most terrible customer service. Disney has told me that the card was never activated and it's BJs issue.

I am getting NOWHERE with bjs. I call every week and I just keep being told that it's being looked into by their order management department.
At this point I asked for a refund and still nothing. I am out $100 now and they have nothing to tell me.

I had the same problem with Target back in the good ol' days of Disney GCs. I had to call their Corporate Gift Card Line. Does BJ's have a department like that? The Corp. GC Line was able to help out real quick and get my cards activated. I posted the below waaaaaayyyy back in this thread and while it is specific to Target, maybe this can help with your order as well when you call BJ's again.

***********************************

I just received some Disney GCs that I ordered from Target as well and half were inactivated. I saw on the Disney GC Deals thread on this board that someone posted a phone number, which I called today. I was on the phone for about 10 minutes, and the rep. took the GC numbers down, said she would call Disney, and get back to me by the end of the day today. I will update this response once that does (hopefully) happen.

Target Corporate Gift Card Line: (800) 544-3875 - spoke to a real friendly woman, sounded like she was located in the U.S., and knew exactly what the problem was.

Have your Target order number ready, along with the 24 digit gift card number. Mine were located on the back of the card, but the rep. also said it could be printed on the cardboard backing, so keep that too!

ETA1: 10 minutes after I got off my first call, the rep. called me back saying she got all but one activated herself. The last one she needed to take the 16-digit GC number and call Disney to get it worked out. So far, relatively painless to get it resolved (though I wish I just got them all activated originally).

ETA2: Another 20 minutes and all GCs were activated. Again, this was rather painless, and I didn't have to talk to multiple people who didn't understand what I was talking about, or have to go through Target's "normal" customer service. If only Disney would allow you to apply gift cards to ticket purchases online...because that took 1.5 hours!!!

Sounds like it's time to escalate this further up the ladder. Chris Elliott is a National consumer advocate and helps people out via his website http://www.elliott.org/, I believe he also writes for USA Today. On his site he list out the names of executives for a number of different companies. He always suggests to start at the bottom and work your way up and to keep a paper/email trail. He suggests this strategy because if you start at the top and get an instant "no" you have no where to go. By starting low and working up the odds are better that you may find someone to help you out. Below is a listing of BJ's exec's

Good Luck.

I hope it's not too late to file a complaint with your credit card company. (If it isn't do it! Now!) Sometimes that gives retailers the kick in the rear they need to fix your issue.

In addition to the above, I would post something on the FB or Twitter. Companies are usually quick to respond to that. Good luck!

We ordered $1500 in Disney gift cards from BJs in August and ALL of them had been deactivated prior to sending them to us. It took hours on the phone over several weeks before we got our money back and their customer service was consistently terrible. No real advice, but I feel your pain, and we did ultimately get our money back. But I will never ever give BJs a dime again.

I second this! I have a gift card issue with sears, but it was the card was used by someone else (and it wasn't purchased at a reseller so it was sears fault!). Customer service was all over in India and they wouldn't transfer me to the gift card department. I messaged Sears on Facebook and it was resolved in 2 days! This might not be the case with BJS but worth a shot!

Is there a limit as to how many gift cards you can buy in a week with BJs? I purchased 5 cards on Saturday. Then purchased another 3 on Monday. Today, Thursday, I decided to purchase 1 more $100 GC. I get an email telling me my order has been cancelled due to not being able to verify my card information. I check the card...all is good, place the order again, then get a cancelled email (I check the card and can see all the pending authorizations from BJs). So, I decided to purchase a single $50 GC with a different credit card. Guess what? Got the cancelled email again! Has anyone ever had this happen? At least my other purchases from Saturday and Monday have all shipped and should be here tomorrow and Saturday.
