Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

Here is the cake, and the inside of the bottom layer. It was plenty for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) especially since we had just had the Bon Voyage breakfast. Lots of buttercream, kids ate some and then we just scraped off the rest. Chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream inside. Cake was moist, buttercream was delicious. Very happy after all the stress!

Oh, and I brought the little mermaid toys, and the manager put them on the cake before bringing it over. We didn't get a candle, which at the time i didn't even realize.

So, I called the Contemporary cake line as directed by email on Tuesday morning and left a message. Nothing back yet. Normal, yes?

Seems so. I have dealt with them mostly through email, but I see many posts here indicating it takes several days to hear back sometimes.

Thank you for the answers on my last question! They helped a lot, I'm so excited since this is going to be our first custom cake! :cake::P
Two more questions! What are those white chocolate stand up pieces with the printed images called? As you can see, I don't have a name for them so I can request one! Also can you choose the image or do you give them an idea of what you would like? We would love to get a Christmas Mickey & Minnie one! ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo

I think I mostly see them called a 2D printed image. Not sure if there is something more official than that. When I used one I just asked them for a pirate Mickey Mouse. I didn't see images to choose from or anything.

I like the fish scale pattern and how they continued it as a tail on the plate! Looks delicious! :)

Hmm. OK. I had been communicating via email, but had been told to call to actually order.

If I don't hear back by tomorrow, I'll call again.

Yes, that's correct you do call for the order. All of my prior orders were through MK though and they had an email as well. Now that MK doesn't have custom cakes I'll be calling my next order in as well. I see nothing wrong with trying them again if it's been a couple days though.

Okay I am just one month out from our double birthday trip and still haven't decided on a cake design. There are just so many options!

I'm pretty sure at one point I saw a cake here that had pictures on it of the person/family the cake was for. Do they still do this? And if so, any idea what it might cost? I thought it might be cute to do this for my son with some of his photos from Disney.

Another thought I had was a Fantasia, Sorcerer Mickey, or Fantasmic themed cake. I found a bunch of super fancy ones online that weren't actually Disney cakes. Does anyone know if they've done one before? I'm scrolling through all the old photos, but I think it's only making this harder. If it wasn't a birthday celebration I don't think I'd go as crazy but I really want to wow him this trip.

My original thought was to do one after his favorite ride, but his favorite ride is BTMRR and I just couldn't figure out what it should or could look like.

Oh the stress of caking planning. :)

that is an insane amount of buttercream! lol!

Had this cake delivered to Spirit of Aloha dinner last night. Server delivered it to the table while hubby was onstage for the "birthday dance" so timing was perfect and he was VERY surprised (his actual bday is in 2 weeks)! Cake was prepared by Pat at GF, was a 6" vanilla with chocolate fudge filling, Chewbacca "inspired." Total cost was $85 plus tax, charged to my CC prior. It was delicious!

How much did this cost? It is BEAUTIFUL!

Has anyone had success ordering a cake for an ADR at 1900 Park Fair? I wanted an and with amaretto mousse. Would this be possible?

Any ideas for a high school graduation cake? (male). I'd really like a graduation theme. Can't really see any pics posted or any past posts on HS graduation cakes. We are staying CR, AKL and BC so can order from any if one would be better than another.

Since 1900 PF is in the Grand Floridian it should be possible. Pat has been known to push back on flavors sometimes but give her a call and tell her what you want. The worst that happens is she says no.

how long after sending an email to contemporary, as requested by wilderness lodge cake line, should I either hear back or call someone to see what's up?

sent my email early on October 12th.

I got an email back the next morning. I'd try again.

I've called, as requested, twice now to place my cake order, with no response. Getting concerned! Any suggestions?

I’d email again - that’s what I did and they forwarded it to the private dining team via email. Provide your contact details just in case and then they should return your call.
