Adding day to Canadian tickets

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has had any success adding a day to the discounted Canadian tickets at the parks? I want to add another day to my tickets and I'm told by Disney that it's impossible and that I'll have to pay the full price for the tickets plus the additional day (even more crazy, is that this price is even more than a single day ticket!!!)

The only advice I received on the phone with ticketing was to try to talk to guest services once I am in the park. Has anyone had any luck with this? I'm really hoping so!

So far, no. Not that we've heard of on the boards, anyways.

If someone was able to do it, it would be a one of kind of thing. Disney policy is as you've been told, you lose your discount etc... Cheaper likely to buy one extra day.

People were able to add options (days?) when the offer was still available. That ended in late May. I had looked at adding park hoppers onto my tickets and it was going to be crazy $$$$. I've just adjusted my touring plan. You may want to think about adjusting your days and having a day or two for non-park things (waterpark?).

You can 100% upgrade any ticket media -- Disney is out to make money. Here's what will happen in your case if you take your CDN tickets and want to add an extra day:
You 1st have to bring the cost of the ticket you have in your hand up to the current cost of the same ticket I found in an older post that the cost of a 7 day discounted ticket was $295.54 tax included and the current cost of same ticket is $436.65 so you would need to cough up an extra $141.11 before you add another day, or hopping even. Total cost to get that 7 day voucher to an 8 day ticket would be $151.76

Yes, people have tried to add extra days, park hopping or to upgrade to an AP and this is the method that is used because there will never be any question as to how much we paid for the vouchers. What you experienced is a clear case of a person answering the phone not *quite* understanding every single thing that we ask.

***IF you happen to be going during a party time (halloween or Christmas) a ticket to those events would run you a MAX $122.48 on Halloween night proper or $116.09 for a party during Christmas week. Those tickets get you into the Magic Kingdom around 4 (i *think* you'll need to confirm the exact time!) and once they clear out the day guests park will be much quieter. There are lots of other things you can do that don't cost as much -- mini-golf, resort hopping, pool time (even in the middle of winter heated!), water parks ,Disney Springs

Thanks all! Not the answer I was hoping for and am so disappointed. It seems quite reasonable to me that Disney would charge me the full price difference between a 6 and 7 day ticket and not require me to forfeit my savings to spend even more money at Disney. So sad, might see if I can change flights to come home one day early - I'm really not interested in paying to stay on site only to hang out at the pool. And I definitely can't justify an additional $US600 for an additional day at the park.

We used our CDN discounted tickets in March 2017. We wanted to add PH to our tickets so we went to Guest Services in Disney Springs on our arrival day. The CM had to get a manager to assist her as she could not locate the special CDN discounted ticket information on her terminal in order to determine the cost to upgrade to PH. I am not sure if we were able to do this at the discounted price (I think it was $55 each) because it was still during the CDN promotion period or not.

If you decide to leave your trip as is, I would go to Guest Services when you arrive and inquire about adding a day. I can't imagine that Disney would charge more than the cost of a one day ticket but if you find the price is unreasonable then maybe plan to go to one of the waterparks or play a round or two of mini golf. We usually incorporate some non-park days into our schedule but we normally have a rental car so we hit the outlet malls.

They are charging you the full price difference between 6 and 7 days like you want. The difference of your discount 6 and regular 7 just gives you a price you do not like, that's all.

It's like buying a Boxing Day deal at Best Buy 50 inch TV on sale at $400 marked down from $650. and 55 inch is $700... You got the 50 inch then changed your mind, but the promotion is over. So you brought back your TV, expecting to pay $50 to get 55 inch?! No... they will credit you $400 and charge you $700, so you have to supplement $300.

If you can understand and accept that logic, then it's very easy to understand Disney.

You can look at it other ways too. Perhaps you rent a car with a great deal while in Disney for $100/week and $25 for each additional day. You book 10 days for $175. On the 10th day you realize you want another day but the rentals are all now $300/week and $50 for each additional day. Does that mean that you now need to pay $325 for that 11th day?

Or for a comparison to adding parkhopper...let's say you decided to add a booster seat to your car rental on the day you pick it up. It is listed at $10/day but since your original car rental price is not the same as the car rental price on your pickup day, instead of paying an extra $100 to rent that car seat, you are now paying $375.

Neither of those scenarios make any sense.

Unfortunately I'm in a similar position. I have a 7-day Canadian discounted ticket that I will need to add a parkhopper to for a trip next year. We always used to be able to enter a park with the existing ticket (which set the value of the ticket at the current gate price) and go to guest services to add on what we wanted, and we were given the full value of the ticket regardless of what we paid for it, so adding a day or parkhopper was relatively cheap. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, my trip is late next year so I might just save this ticket for another time and use my airmiles to get a non-discounted which would be cheaper to add the parkhopper to.

Tinkershelly, give park hopping some real thought. I have always had parkhoppers and I am in a similar situations next year. This past trip I really looked at the way we toured the parks and I think with a little reorganizing we can tour without needing PH. This isn't a once and done kind of trip, that may make a difference and there will be some flexibility removed from our trip but it will still be a great holiday.

Not sure what time of year you're going, but it's fun to build in a no park day in the middle. You can go to the water parks, Disney Springs, mini golf, book a nice lunch at one of the resorts, explore the Boardwalk area and get an icecream at Ample Hills, and yes, enjoy your resort and pool.

Wow, this really sucks. I had always assumed Disney would charge you the difference between say a regular 7 day and regular 8 day. Going for 2 weeks in December. Have 5 day tix. Was thinking of doing something else for 1 week like visit the Keys or take a cruise. This does make doing something else a more attractive option.

They are charging you the difference.

The extra step here is that right here, right now, the discount rate is not "on". So those discounted tickets are locked in at whatever you paid, they CANNOT be used at simple face value if you want to modify them today. Once the sale was over, the sale is over, you can't use these tickets as rain checks... if that makes any sense...

I understand and no disrespect meant for you but I don't really care about their reasoning or mechanics behind it. Doesn't make it anymore palatable and I'm surprised they've chosen to do it this way. End result is still the same; I'm not gonna pay that much money to add a few days.

Fwiw, even when the discount was "on" last year, we couldn't add an extra day without paying a foolish amount. For this year I bought one extra day than I thought I'd need to be safe.

Can I add onto this post? Here is what I was planning to do, but maybe it is not possible:

- I have a 5 day WDW ticket, purchased with Air Miles discounted during the Canadian promotion.
- I now want to be in the parks for 6 days as we have added two days onto our trip.
- I was planning to purchase a 1 day ticket. It is crazy expensive, but I am not sure another way to do it.

Am I missing something or can OP do the above? Or is it just that the cost of the extra day is awful?

Nope, you can do that. I'd always ask first about adding a day to your 5 day ticket just in case.

You can, but buying a 1 day ticket is crazy expensive. Depending what the time of year maybe you could think of something else to do. Waterpark day? Sometimes we do a non park day mid trip and go to Disney Springs for lunch and walk around. Or go to the fork & dine movie theatre. Mini golf, walk around the Boardwalk area, visit all the resorts there.

If there happens to be a special event evening in MK while you're there, you could do that instead of an extra day ticket. So you won't really get a whole day 6, but you won't pay full price for a full day and you'll get party entrance. But that strategy only works if there's one on during your trip. When are you going?
