Disney Gift Card Deals

Just as I thought: Staples is out of $300 Visa gift cards. I'm not sure it's worth it to buy them if I have to pay $6.95 activation fee for two cards.

Were you trying to do the $20 rebate deal? That one is only good in store, and I don't think they sell $300 cards in store anyway. I always get 2 x $200. You still come out positive, but its such a small amount, I wouldn't do it except for the ability to get credit card points/miles.

No luck at the only other BB&B in a convenient radius. I was told it is illegal to buy a gift card with a gift card. I asked her if she was sure about that because several major retailers allow it, such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. She called her manager, who confirmed no GC to GC. I asked to talk with the manager, although I wasn't hopeful. The manager came up and confirmed her earlier stance against it. I told her i was confused because I didn't see anything on the website or the back of the gift card that prohibited the purchase of gift cards, and that I knew their system allowed it because I had no problems in the past. She picked up a BB&B gift card and read off to me that it is redeemable for merchandise only and said that gift cards aren't considered merchandise because they are from a third party. What she didn't read is the rest of the statement on the back of the card which says, "...and may not be redeemed for cash." To me, this means the gift card can't be cashed out for money, but it should be good for anything they sell in the store. She disagreed. There was no point in pursuing it any further so I left.

I've received two emails in response to my message sent via their website. One was an automated message and the second email said that the store manager or district manager will be contacting me in 24-48 hours.

so out of curiosity are you able to buy a Staples VGC and then use that VGC at another Staples to buy another VGC? It would be A LOT of running around but could get a little extra discount.

I got the same two emails. Guess we'll see what happens.

Don't know if that would work in this case, and to your point I'm not sure it would be worth the effort for just a few dollars. Plus, if you were trying to buy $206.95 Visa gc with the previous purchased $200, wouldn't it reject?

The rebate is a one per household/address offer, which is very limiting.

It's a better deal for me to go to my local Hy-Vee and buy Target gift cards with my AMEX card and get 20-cents per gallon for every $100 spent. I get 6% back on grocery store purchases and 20-cents per gallon is worth about $2, so I save 8% that way.

Can you double that by buying a Visa gift card first and then using that to buy the Target card? Would that give you 40 cents off? I do something similar at Kroger. Although I have noticed that Kroger isn't the cheapest gas around. The Sam's next door has it for 10 cents less/gallon. So when calculating savings, I compare what I'm spending at Kroger on gas versus what I would have spent at Sam's. Savings is still good though. Unfortunately, I've maxed out the 6% grocery store cash back on my cc for the year.

This is my current direction with Disney GC. I buy them at Kroger where I get 6% for grocery stores with my AMEX, and I only buy during 4x fuel points. Every 100 points is 10 cents off, so if I buy a $500 GC (2000 points), I get $30 back (6%) and then I can do a maximum of $1 off gas (so I can get two tanks at a $1 a piece). If my wife and I do a full tank in each of our cars, we save about $26. So $56, or a little over 11% savings on a Disney GC if you look at it that way.

I've been following the bb&b gc thing because I have enough to redeem my discover rewards. I won't try it now and it sucks that they've stopped letting people do it but it could be money laundering and I imagine it will be the reason other stores eventually stop. If someone steals a credit card, buys gc for bb&b, target, Wal-Mart etc and then go redeem them at the store for a different card so when someone notices the fraud they'll have already turned what connected them to the cc into something else the store loses money. No different than the cards people bought last year from one of the resellers that were drained or used after they were bought. They were laundering the money but doing it in store for a legit card is prob safer for them. They can sell that new one online and get cash cause there's no ties to the original stolen stuff.

BJs cancelled my last order for "unable to verify payment information". The charge was pending on my CC, then refunded to my CC. I tried it again, cancelled again. Never had issues with BJs, anybody seen this before?

I asked about this a few pages back. I had recently placed an order for $1600 in gift cards so I don't know if they have some secret limit in place?

But, I just ended up doing an order in my husbands name, credit card and different email and it went through fine. :confused3

I was trying to put the charge on a new credit card I have a minimum spend to meet (a Chase card). Tried to order 6 cards, cancelled out 3 times. Tried ordering just one, cancelled as well. Guess my next step is to try calling in. Did you use the same credit card when ordering under your husbands name & email or a different one?

I know I have trouble if the name on the card doesn't exactly match what you enter as the billing info for your order. I had an order cancel, called in, they tried it again, still cancelled, realized my middle initial was on the card, she tried again with that info and it went through.

I've also had dozens of orders cancelled trying to use MasterCard gift cards in spite of registering them first. I'll get a few orders through, then they start getting cancelled. I'll wait a couple of weeks and get a few more through before they start getting cancelled again. These are small $50 orders so I'm not sure why it happens. I think I'm through with BJ's for awhile, at least until warehouse clubs come up as a category bonus again.

Cards arrived yesterday thankfully.

As for BB & B I wouldn't expect them to do much. Had a cashier forget an item in my bag and they never would credit me because they couldn't see enough on their camera and it wasn't found. She probably gave it to the next customer.

So what do you guys do with small ($5.01) balance on visa or MasterCard gift cards. Since I have to use it online (no physical card) and I haven't found anyone that take multiple payments.

I'm not expecting BB&B to do much of anything. I'm certainly not expecting them to reverse their practice of allowing GC to GC transactions. The most I'm expecting is that they'll retrain their cashiers to stop calling customers money launderers and just state that it's store policy against it.

I end up adding the small leftover balances to my Amazon account. I wait until I know for sure that the original transaction is complete before I do. For some reason if it's still pending, the Amazon transaction gets declined.
