Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Im going to subscribe to TP around the 1 year to wait mark (going end of aug 2018). It appears they have a room request feature. Have you guys tried this and how did it work? We have just a standard view room booked. Does anyone have a recommendation for what room to request for standard view? A balcony would be great but I understand if those are only for the higher end rooms.

This is a photo showing the hours for the hair wrap place outside Stormalong Bay (because that's the only other photo I've uploaded to Flickr so far).

This is a slightly larger size: Small 320 x 240. (You can go much bigger if you like.)

I will work on the photos of my nieces and nephews for my signature.

See, now this is interesting and helpful!

Sometime in the last year, I lost the ability to change photo sizes in Photobucket. I don't know if the option is gone or I just can't figure it out. Most of the photos I post are 480 x 640, and that is great, but I want the ability to post the calendar in a larger size to make it easier to read. Also, I have a few pictures on Page 1 that I want to be this size, and a few that I want to add in the size above to match others, but I haven't been able to do that.

But I'm afraid if I add on a flickr account, I may truly lose my mind trying to remember where my photos are...

You could use Flickr just for posting the Calendar...

Two things I noticed about the size options in Flickr:

1) The size options are not identical for each photo. I assume it depends on your photo.

2) Make sure you are seeing all of your options when choosing the size for the photo you want to post. I like my print size big, but I don't have a huge computer monitor. That could mean that I am not seeing all of my options. The larger options are at the bottom of the pull-down menu, and you might not see them if, like me, you have big print and a small computer screen. The options at the bottom could get cut off. So I clicked on VIEW at the top of my screen, then hovered over ZOOM, then clicked on ZOOM OUT to make everything on my screen look smaller, to be sure I was seeing the options at the bottom of the pull-down menu. You might have to do this in a different way based on the operating system of your computer. (But Zoom is a handy feature to know how to use anyway. It is not limited to Flickr.)

The full balconies at the BC are not only for the higher end rooms. All categories of rooms have either full or standing balconies. :)

Just about all of the BC standard view rooms are located above the lobby and restaurant area on the third and fourth floors. Most of the third floor rooms have a full balcony and most of the fourth floor rooms have a standing balcony. There are not a lot of options with the standard view rooms, so I would just make your requests by having them added to your resort reservation by either calling the reservation number or having your TA add the request, if you used a travel agent. :)

We have stayed in a standard view room a few times and have always had the view toward Storm Along Bay. It is a nice view for a standard room. The rooms you don't want would be the ones that are close to the main entrance on the parking lot side. That gets noisy from the Magical Express and luggage service trucks.

To walk to the Dolphin from BC, do you walk toward YC or toward BWI? Which way is faster?

It's faster to walk toward Yacht Club - but not as fast as you would think. You can't walk "as the crow flies." The walking path wraps around the Dolphin, which juts out in places. The Dolphin is not a straight rectangle shape.

Here's a link to a map on the Swan & Dolphin official website: http://www.swandolphin.com/aboutus/maps.html

The Swan is on the left and the Dolphin is on the right. The entrance to the Dolphin is at the bottom of the big blue triangle. You can see the Yacht Club on the far right side of the map, and you can see the walking path to the Dolphin. You can see how the Dolphin juts out.

So excited to be staying BC in March!

We are now in the process of planning ADRs! Does anybody have an estimate for how long it takes to walk from BC to Rose & Crown?

Thanks for the help! :earsboy:

We get to take a last minute trip! Yay! Now, I know the YC Cl just recently refurbished their rooms. How are the conditions of the BC Cl rooms? Are the bfst/apps/drink offerings the same between the two? I'm trying to make a booking decision and appreciate any help. Thanks!

ETA: I posted on the Cl thread too

Excellent.

Pretty much, yes.

Haha! Well that's no help at all . I kid. I'm just having a tough time deciding and if they are both excellent and offerings the same then not sure what to do. We have stayed BC Cl before and that is what I have booked right now. We enjoyed it immensely (and I like the decor) so that is probably what I'll do but I was tempted to check out the new YC rooms.

The Beach Club rooms were recently refurbished also. I think they were done last year, but I'm not positive (I'm DVC so I don't pay as much attention as others do.)

BC rooms were refurbished last year also both lounges have been refurbed in the past couple of years. Personally it's all about BC for me....however YC is a close second! YC still has some pixie dust taking place depending on when you are going, so you may want to keep that, the QS options and park proximities in mind. Either way you probably won't go wrong. :)

Fine tuning my plans for our big group. 32 days today!!! Even my husband appears to be getting excited. LOL.just emailed a Signature Services to get some golf and spa options. The dads were hoping to get in on the morning or evening 9 hole golf special. I was thinking about the spa at Saratoga Springs but that seems stupid where there is a spa right in the resort.

Also wondering something I should already know. We are doing a dessert party in Epcot on Aug 23rd for the fireworks, which includes a ride on Soarin afterwards. MK has evening EMHs that night and is the only nighttime EMH for our trip. I have never done one and I know the girls want to go. It's set for 10 pm to 12 am. Two questions:

1. Can we get the monorail from Epcot that late? If not, what's the best way to get there?
2. What are the chances of those hours being extended?

Thanks!

Honestly, we found no significant difference between the 2 Club Level offerings. We feel YC and BC are different "wings" of the same resort. We prefer the YC theme and the fact that you don't have to worry about getting a full balcony or not. But other than that, to us there is no difference.

Minnie Vans will be classic "red" and looks to be the Chevy model!

Just announced/showed at D23
They look pretty snazzy and look like they will only be suitable for one family or small group at a time. I think the new design artwork looks good.

I read online that Disney is using the Chevy Traverse for the Minnie Vans. If this is true, they seat 3 in the back, 3 in the way-back, and 1 in the front passenger seat (in addition to the driver).
