Sci fi dine in and ABC Commissary closing

Monsieur Paul. In terms of food they are both really solid in park experiences. I prefer Spice Road Table en toto as my favorite park restaurant, but I love al fresco dining and their quiet by the lake vibe does it for me.

American palettes are an issue - basically, it means we can't have nice things. Dating only highlights this in the worst possible way and also makes it clear who I'm not going to want to go out with again really fast! Dining plan...please, don't.

ETA: I haven't been in 50s since I was in high school on a band trip because I hate antics, unironic kitsch, noise, and chaos when I'm just trying to eat a meal, and I remember distinctly thinking "this corn is canned." I was grossed out then. I see the pictures and I just don't get it.

Every time Disney opens a new place and lists an inventive, well thought out menu, I cry a little inside because I know I'm about 0.2 seconds people are going to be crying about wanting their burger and fries and why can't the new place serve that, even though a large portion of the in-park menus are already that generic fare. Why can't they just leave one or two places in park with different menus alone??

Dining in Hollywood Studios is bleak. Our friends who go always ask me where they should eat when they visit that park, and I end up having to tell them to just go eat elsewhere (I have a hard time recommending Hollywood Brown Derby after our disasterous experience there).

It's actually harder to find burgers in WDW nowadays. I like good burgers but they are definitely in short supply.

I see nothing wrong with offering comfort food either but it has to be good and I can do without the antics. 50's Primetime defines mediocrity to me.

Why can't there just be a good variety? WDW could have restaurants with good burgers, meat loaf and "weird" food (not all in the same place) and everyone could be happy.

De-luxe burger in Disney springs are the best burgers in the world

I really enjoyed my burger I had there. I wouldn't say best in the world, maybe one of the best in "Disney World" ...

While I think they have added to the menu so it has a couple more offerings, the menu is still one that I pretty much would still only order one or two of the flavors, and even those with some alteration. Their DUO offerings were a real plus.

Oh ok...gotcha...

I haven't been to since it was bistro...which is highly unusual as there's never more than a handful of places I haven't been to...

Right now it's spoodles 3.0, a couple of the new spots at springs, the new joint at wilderness, and monsieur Paul. I'm slacking...

And dating?!? ...what an exotic, delightfully foreign concept to old koots like me...:love1:

Sorry dumb question alert - with HS dining are they going to open more options with TSL and then eventually SWL? and if that is the case would they, to drive traffic, close down other food locals in the park?

I believe the reported plans are a quick serve in the kiddie part and some type of themed thing in Star Wars - probably mixed use if it goes to pattern

Just booked an ADR for Sci-Fi for January 5th... If there is any truth to this rumor (which I'm pretty sure we've killed), it is not happening any time soon.

That's the classic made up rumor...why would they demo sci fi later? It's literally surrounded by construction walls right now and will be for another 2 years...this is nonsense

They have already closed down Studio Grill and honestly when the two new lands open they will need to add eating spots, not keep status quo.

I believe there is talk that SWL will have a "Cantina" which I bet is set up similar to the new Pandora Canteen, and also some type of table service implied as a Dinner Club.

Toy Story Land

I don't believe Disney has release the slightest hint verbally that there will be any dining options here. It made sense to move Pizza Planet here and reopen in Muppets with a different menu but they didn't ............ there is no need for more "pizza". If you look at the renderings of the area and zoom on the left side, there is a building with lots of umbrella tables outside. This could be for a quick service. I guess since it's Andy's backyard, burgers and hot dogs make sense.

I'm grateful to live in an area with a lot of ethnic cuisine, and for the most part that's usually how I eat.

I also dislike noisy chaotic eating environments and overly cuttered dining areas. However, I do like visiting authentic/older diners with my husband when we travel- it gives you a different experience/impression of some areas. Yes, it's generally safe, bland, greasy food, but when it's so infrequent it doesn't bother me as much. We are actually planning on trying the Sci Fi Diner-not for any above reasons, but because it is so unique to the park and seems to embody the "spirit" of Hollywood Studios. Plus, given the alternatives, it really doesn't seem that bad. Frankly I am nervous to see what Disney considers "ethnic dining" at other points of our trip. So far I've had no reason to expect quality food on property. We will be eating at Disney Springs a lot again. ;)

We love Brown Derby as well. We did the Dine with the Imagineer there also and it was probably our best experience in DW.

Brown derby is excellent food...the outside patio is a fantastic option as well.

Sci-fi is cool for the experience.

Hollywood and vine (other than breakfast), prime time and mamas...are just...no...

I heard a rumor that they were going to close ABC and split the GMR show building so half would be for the Mickey ride and the other half would be another dark ride with the current ABC area being its que. I hope this is true as Studios even with lands done I feel may need more

I'd be cool with another dark ride, but they're kinda spiting themselves if they do that. As noted not a ton of places to dine in the studios already
