Two New Ticket Offers for DVC Members!

We just got 13 month Gold passes. Current offer? Substandard. WDW rules do not allow us to take advantage of it, and the cost proposition is worthless to us.
Hence? Fake benefit.

There are always people left out of the offers no matter what they are. I can't take advantage of this one either due to timing, but that doesn't make it any less of an offer.

I don't understand. Why does this not benefit you?

We just got the 13 month gold pass in may and will be upgrading them this week while in WDW.

For us going this summer we had to purchase prior to guarantee the 60 day fast pass window. This is a pure play to get people to visit late 2017 or anytime in 2018.

Even the 6 month expiration window while nice is another way to squeeze an extra visit in short order. Don't get me wrong this is better than nothing and nicer than the expiring MYW tickets, but it is clearly a way to drive 2018 business when the new exhibits are not going to be finished.

Read through the entire thread-- I don't think this was asked. Can someone possibly help?

Was interested in the 7 day offer (for the price of 5 days). Can we bridge a 5 day hopper bought from UCT, and get credit for the gate price-- and apply it to the 7 day offer?

Any help much appreciated!

Except the part where you can upgrade your gold pass to P+ at no cost. If you mean the extension on the 13 mo. if you renew, well we are in that boat too - unable to take advantage due to our renewal window being after 10/1.

In the fine print, the 7 day passes specifically said for household members but the annual passes didn't... or did I miss that?

It's there just above the "important information" section. "All adults must have ID showing same residence....." . Standard gold pass purchase rules AFAIK.

If someone could help put in their thoughts on this- its just difficult for me to understand our best option here.

We purchased 3 new DVC gold AP in September 2016 ( litereally the week before they offered the 13 month promotion, but whatever.). We activiated and used the tickets several times this year and they now expire on September 15, 2017. Our next trip is the first week of September for 12 nights.

If we renew when we arrive, what will that cost us and would we immediately be able to use the water parks during that September trip? Also, when would it expire?

Our NEXT planned trip is at the end of January 2018 (already booked with points). Would there be any advantage to buy a new pass closer to then to get a few extra months (since im not going from September - January)?

I would truly appreciate any suggestions on what you would do in my situation with renewing/buying new AP! Thank you!!

I would let your current AP expire and buy the Platinum Plus deal before Jan, restarting your AP cycle. That way it will expire in Jan 2019.

I don't know about the price for renewing to a Plat+ AP. There was one post on the first or second day of this offer where someone said that they were able to renew their AP to a Plat+ AP for one year for $505. However, there's also an offer that expires Oct. 1, 2017 which will give you 13 months on your renewal. It might be worth asking if you can get both the 13 months AND the discount on the renewal. I'll have to search to see if I can find the post.

My brother was able to upgrade his Gold APs which he had just activated on July 1 to the Plat+ AP for $11 apiece. He had purchased the 13-month vouchers back in the fall before there was a price increase, otherwise he could have upgraded for free. His pass retained the Aug. 1, 2018 expiration date.

ETA - I found the post!
I had the same question and spoke to someone at member services. According to her, but I will call again tomorrow to make sure, I can renew/upgrade the annual pass I bought last year with the 13 month special (I believe it was the DVC Gold?) to the Platinum Plus (I need it due to the no blackout dates....and it also includes water parks) for $505 per adult plus tax. However....you NEED TO RENEW before october 1st. But it won't activate until the expiration date of the Gold. Is that clear as mud? I also purchased two 7 days park hoppers for the price of four from UT, and she could not help me with the question about upgrading those to DVC/Platinum. I'll have to pick the brain of someone at regular Disney. Don't take my word for all this.....sometimes you get different answers. But it sounded about right to me. A really great deal for us. Oh....and there is also the direct DVC purchase rule in there somewhere too.

If I understand correctly, you could upgrade your current Gold Passes to Platinum Plus so you could use the Water Parks during your trip. Depending on when you bought the Gold Passes (before or after the price increase) it could be a free upgrade, or it could cost you $10-$15 per ticket.

As for thinking about whether to renew versus waiting and starting a new AP at the beginning of your next trip, I thing of it this way:
How many trips (or days) can you get out of the renewal? How many trips (or days) can you get if you wait? Trips works fine if all your trips are about the same length. Days might be better if the length of your trips varies widely. The last time I had this decision, I could renew and get two trips out of the pass. Then I figured out that if I waited and bought a new AP, I could get 3 trips out of the pass. This made the per day cost much lower, so I waited and bought a new pass. It actually turned out that we will get 4 trips out of our current pass, so it turned out to be a great decision.

This analysis will also tell you if it is fine to just renew. If you will get 2 trips out of the renewal and 2 trips if you wait, I would just renew for the lower renewal price.

I'm not sure. If your passes are hoppers you may not be allowed to change the pass at all. Particularly if you have "hopped" already using them.

Normal bridging procedure using outside purchased passes requires that you first activate your passes by using them to enter a theme park prior upgrading them. By activating a PH at just one park you may have taken away the ability to change them over to non-PH.

I suggest you go to a quiet ticket booth to inquire. If they tell you they are able and the price quoted for the upgrade doesn't match your expected numbers ask for a breakdown. If the cast member's method is not crediting you properly for the UCT passes find another cast member/booth to start over and do the upgrade at. Not all CMs know how to work that bridge method.

Be careful with those new DVC 7 day passes. From what I'm reading they cannot have days added on beyond the 7 or be turned into Park Hoppers without a steep increase in price. Were it me, I'd keep the UCT PH passes you have and add 2 days on.

On the contrary...the full no blackout pass with the waterparks for $560 is a pretty good deal...the gold pass at that rate isn't as much...

And you know how often I say anything they do in the swamp is a "good deal"...cause they haven't been much for years.

If you renew the pass when you get there...you would get the 13 month extension and the waterpark/blackout benefits...the only thing you might "lose" is the days between whenever you renewed it and 9/15...because the expiration date would be retroactive to that first use on it at the beginning of September. But your new expiration would be October 2018 anyway...so what are you really losing?

Not sure...technically you can only upgrade tickets...they never never let you downgrade. What you're proposing is a "sidegrade" to save money. It would be worth a call and a supervisor to see what they can or can't do...no way to predict.

says on the dvc site about the promotion that it CAN be done by phone
You can purchase a new pass or renewal your pass by phone. If you have a MYW ticket that you want to apply towards the purchase (aka upgrade), that can only be done in person.
