No right,no wrong, no rules for me - I'm free *First solo trip 4/30-5/6* updated 8/29x3 *complete*

So random/strange that Woody and Jesse were visiting the Haunted Mansion. We've had some strange borders/magic shots put on ours but that one is hilarious!

Adventureland always feels so crowded. It annoys me because it is my favorite land and I wish it was a bit more relaxing. I think they need to get rid of Aladdin's magic carpets and make it more open there!

What a lovely evening at Animal Kingdom. I really wish I had made myself have more "downtime" on my solo trip a couple weeks ago. I ran myself ragged and came home SICK!!

Oh, and back to the prior update. I think getting evacuated off Splash is cool too!

I love it so much. I told DH I was going to get a blanket and a lawn chair and sleeping in the garage to keep her company :lovestruc
HOW EXCITING!!!!!! Congrats on the new wheels! :thumbsup2

This parade makes me so happy...the song is infectious
I hate to admit this, but I've never been much of a parade person... preferring instead to hit the rides when everyone else is watching the parades. However, when I went in January, my nephew was absolutely enthralled with this parade so it really made me appreciate parades in a way I'd never really before. I'm not a huge fan!

Also, that girl behind me looks like she's giving me some judgey side eye.
She really does! But I think it's more envy of your awesomeness than anything! :thumbsup2 ;)

They also gave me a Toy Story magic shot and still, which was a little confusing, because WHY are Woody and Jessie outside of the Haunted Mansion??
I'm so confused about this, too. Like, huh?! :confused3

It had been rained on and braided, so all in all, it could have been worse!
As a fellow long-hair gal, this is quite impressive! ::yes::

I just wasn't feeling awesome...:crazy2:
Uh, oh... I hope it didn't become anything major... :sad2:

Woah!? Really?? That's wild! (And not true, but even if it was that's nobody else's job to determine!) I think I may remember that from one of your TRs. People astound me sometimes...

I must just have one of those faces that people feel like they can say whatever to...because things like that happen to me ALL the time. I am used to it, LOL!

I know @chunkymonkey did the Tiana party if you want to read a review, since I'm not sure if it's continuing having the info on it probably doesn't matter.

:rotfl:

I've never gotten a Lost Boys one so maybe it was your shirt! They've done Woody and Jessie in Frontierland which makes more sense, but I still didn't like the border.

That makes sense! Mayhe they think you're kids are real hip hop :rotfl:

Woody and Jessie makes much more sense in Frontierland!!

The Lost Boys shot was really cute...I wish it was a still photo instead of the moving one though, I don't know how to post those!

My kids are so gangsta, right?? :rotfl:

I did do the dessert party! (As Raeven mentioned) - it's in my TR for my February 5k trip. It was fun and we got plenty of treats, but not a must-do. It was an ok view of the parade but at least we got some shelter from the sun.

Funniest pictures! That girl was probably just jealous you were getting a PP pic and not her!
I'm cracking up at the Woody and Jesse themed. We got one in front of BTMRR but that makes sense. Haunted Mansion...no sense! Maybe it was a mistake and she hit the wrong button? Hahaha.

Ugh, yeah I can relate.

Not bad! I use Ouidad Climate control anti-humidity gel on my hair (which is naturally frizzy and also permed) and it works pretty well although by the end of a long humid day, nothing really helps!

Oh no I hope you feel better!

For me, the benefit would be the meet and greet...if Louis is there. We missed meeting him when we were at Disneyland last year and I was so disappointed! Getting out of the sun would be a plus for sure!

I was trying to come up with some roundabout explanation for Woody/Jessie...something to connect to their Halloween short, Toy Story of Terror, but no...I am at a loss!

I might look for that gel! It's so humid here, I usually just end up with my hair pulled up. It's so long and naturally wavy, that if I don't flat iron it, it turns into Monica Gellar humidity hair.

I love that parade great pictures!
Yes that girl outside of HM was giving you judgey side eyes :rotfl:but I love the shot.
Very strange adding Woodie and Jesse :confused3
Love of the pictures of the animals it looks so relaxing to be able to sit and enjoy them after a day in the parks.
I'd say your hair held up well and I like the selfie of you in the rocker.

Being able to sit and watch the animals was honestly one of the best parts of the trip. After being so tired and hot in the parks, it was nice to just sit quietly and relax for awhile!! But it made it much harder to want to get back to a park in the evenings!!

Love your report - AK is my favorite park as well and I love the AKL. Only stayed there once but I fell in love. for me AK is a two-dayer.

Thank you so much!!

I think I could spend a full week at only AK and still not get enough! I always see something new, and then I still have to take 9,000 pictures of my favorite things!
:rotfl2::rotfl: :cool1: This is one of the funniest things I've read on here!!!

Following along

Hello and welcome!!

Oh, and back to the prior update. I think getting evacuated off Splash is cool too!

It had to have been a mistake, right?? I mean...I can't even come up with a convincing reason why they'd do that shot there!

I love Adventureland!! It's usually manageable first thing in the morning, but most of the time I end up there in the afternoon, so it's crowd city! I've never managed to make it to a Jasmine/Aladdin meet and greet because of all the people. I refuse to wait there in the heat with no shade!

Sometimes I feel like I gave myself too much downtime, because I feel like I missed out on so much (I always feel that way though, to be honest!), but I'm also glad I gave myself a chance to relax a little.

I'm so sorry you came home sick!!

HOW EXCITING!!!!!! Congrats on the new wheels! :thumbsup2

Uh, oh... I hope it didn't become anything major... :sad2:

I love my car so much :lovestruc I always want to be in it! When I got the Acura last year, I just sort of settled for it and didn't really love it. I've never had a car for such a short time, but I really wanted to LOVE my car...now I do, and I have no regrets! (my kids are missing the little luxuries from the MDX's backseat though! No plug ins or individual a/c vents in the back of the jeep, lol!!)

I'm kind of with you on parades...after seeing them once I can usually take them or leave them. But FoF is one I find myself missing if I don't stop to watch. Paint the Night at Disneyland was another I really loved. Other than that, I just want Epcot to bring back Tapestry of Nations, and then I don't need any other parades in my life!!

Long hair...love it/hate it. *sigh* I threaten to cut it off every day, but then I realize it will wave and fluff up even more when shorter!!

Hello!!

I have the pictures moved over to photobucket for the next installment...hopefully I can get that up later today, but probably more likely to happen tomorrow afternoon.

The kids are heading to their grandparents' next week for awhile, so I should really be able to get rolling with this report and finish it up before much longer!!

I hope you are all enjoying summer so far!! I think we're heading to the pool today, the boys say they'll just die if they don't go swimming. Yesterday we went for a walk around a local "lake" (called a lake, more like a big pond...no swimming, but you can fish) and they said I was torturing them b/c they couldn't swim there, and they wanted to go to the real lake or the pool. After seeing a water moccasin in the water yesterday, they decided on pool! I"m ok with that!

Have a great day, and I'll try to have a new chapter up soon!

Congrats on your Jeep!!!!! Looks like you got one pretty darn similar to my hubby, though his is 2 years old now. His was a teenage dream come true too and he completely loves it (and doesn't let me drive it).

Looks like you had a crazy weather day in the MK. Why, oh why, is it we spend so much time to make our hair look good and dang WDW has much different plans for us.

TGIF enjoy the pool.

Thank you!! I actually had time to sit and read a book, it was nice!

I love how "hyperbole" your boys are!

I have no idea where they get it from :rolleyes1

Thank you, I LOVE it! I don't want DH driving it either, lol!!

I don't know why I bother with the hair, it's always a disaster! I did luck out with humidity for a couple of days on this trip, but that is certainly not the norm!! Darn Florida weather!!

We never used to bother with parades or fireworks until just recently. Once we bought our first annual pass a couple of years ago we just happen to find a lot of reasons to return to WDW again and again. So we have started to watch the fireworks because it is something we hadn't done yet. I've also talked my DH into watching the afternoon parade at MK. The trouble with the parade is that it is always during our "down time" at our resort. So it has been hard to get there.

I love your story about your Jeep. After literally decades of having my husband surprise me with a car that he picked out for me, I put my foot down and said that I wanted to pick out my own car for a change. I did my research on the best car to get, I required heated seats and a sunroof, and we found the car that I wanted. :) I also wanted the car to be in my name instead of my husband's, and I told the salesman over and over to make sure it was my name on the car. In spite of my best efforts, it ended up in his name after all. It is a small annoyance but still, a woman should be able to buy things without having to have her husband's name on it, especially when both people have separate incomes.

Good morning!!

Last year on Father's Day we were in California on a whale watching tour!

This year...well, this year DH had to run to the office and deal with something that came up and it's storming. Hopefully the weather passes soon and we can go do something fun when he gets home. It won't be whale watching, but I'm not sure I'll be able to top that anyway!

When I left off last time, I wasn't feeling awesome and had gone to bed early. Let's see what happened next...

Chapter Four...Hooray for HollyWars!

My alarm was set pretty early, but when it sounded that morning, I just turned it off. I don't think I got out of bed until 8:00 8:30 or something crazy like that!! While I was getting ready, people kept calling and texting...PTO and OM stuff. It was really stressing me out, and at one point I considered flying home early to deal with it. And then I got mad, because WHY couldn't someone else deal with it, I was miles and miles away.

It wasn't setting the day up to be very successful, so I talked to DH, he calmed me down, and eventually I was ready to go! I had morning FPs for Hollywood Studios and I wanted to get there in time to make part of the window for the first one.

I took a morning hair selfie to see how it would make it through the day:

I feel like I look so tired in this picture, but Disney isn't always cute...at least not for me!

I hopped on a bus and headed to...

Hollywood Studios!!

I wish that's where I was today!

I tried to ignore the headache that was creeping up and enjoy my surroundings.

And realized I needed a photopass picture here! I got a little carried away...

After dealing with a few grouchy pp photographers over the past few days, I was happy to note that all of the ones at DHS were so nice and a lot of fun to talk to.

My first goal this morning was to make it to my first Fast Pass within the window time of 10:10 to 11:10. If I recall, I ended up being closer to the beginning of the window than the end, which was a relief.

I was a little nervous about my FP...not because it was a thrill ride, those don't scare me, but because it was a ride typically done with a partner.

Toy Story Midway Mania isn't intimidating until you're by yourself and you don't know what the CMs will say to you when you roll up alone. If the Pirates of the Caribbean girl was rude, what the heck would these people be like??

They didn't seem to care. Now, the people in front of me were terrified I was going to be seated with them. So much so that they (two adults and a toddler) squeezed themselves into one seat. I guess I did NOT have a friend in them. The wife just kept saying, "I don't want you to have to sit with her. I don't want you to have to sit with her." Like I was carrying the plague?? I didn't particularly want to sit with them either, so who cares??

I documented my sad little score:

and was missing out on the competition I normally have with the boys and DH. If I do another solo trip, I think I will skip this ride. It was the only time I was incredibly aware of being alone. It had been a rough morning, so that probably had something to do with it as well!

Up next was something I was REALLY looking forward to, but also feeling a little guilty about:

It was Star Wars Launch Bay time! We saw the California version last summer and met Kylo Ren (he was scary!), but we all wanted to meet BB-8, Chewie, and the Jawas, so there was definite guilt on my part!

When I saw the Storm Trooper at the entrance I was almost jumping up and down!

Lines for the characters were long, so I decided to skip them and wait until we were all together again. I also didn't drink any blue milk...it looked like it had been sitting out so long it had solidified...lol!

On the way out, I spied a Jawa

By then, it was time to line up for something I was super incredibly excited about...

That'll be up next time!

:rotfl2::rotfl: :cool1: This is one of the funniest things I've read on here!!!

Ok, I don't know why I didn't reply to this the other day!! I quoted it, so who knows what I was thinking??

Don't you know my family is super hip and cool?? :rotfl2:

Although, in high school I did give myself rap name...yep, for real. You know what it was?? Snow White. :rotfl:
I could rap along with Nelly and Jay-Z like...well, like a white girl, lol!!

Oh man, how did I miss two updates????

Oh right, work. Ugh. Catch up time!

He went to see Everything, Everything (aka, Bubble Girl), so he must really like her.

I won't tell you about my students' dating lives. I know too much about them (they think I want them to share with me. I don't share mine, please don't share yours kids!) but one boy did tell me something that your post made me think of and I thought you'd laugh at - one of my students took a girl in class to see that same movie, but her parents didn't want it to be a date so they made her little sister go with them. And she just stared at him the entire time. I don't think he appreciated the fact that I started laughing when he told me this story.

IMG_9504_zpsyxpjxmaw.jpg

OMG Goofy in this picture though! Breaking it down R&B style! Though I am sad you didn't get to see the tap dancer, because he's amazing (and actually tapping which is not something that ever happens in Disney)

Splash was probably my number one can't miss ride for this trip, considering it will be down for refurb when I'm there in October.

SIGH. This upsets me so much! My mother's the only one that will go on Splash with me, so I'm super bummed it won't be up.

CMs handing us paper fast passes and bottles of water

I am super amused that you got bottles of water from Splash. But it's a nice perk!

The wife just kept saying, "I don't want you to have to sit with her. I don't want you to have to sit with her."

....wow lady...

That's amazing you got to go whale watching last year.
We would love to go to Disneyland someday.
I love the ears you ordered they are so pretty.
I'm sorry you weren't feeling well compounded with stress from back home.
Love your HS pics I miss that beautiful blue sky :cloud9:
I cannot believe that woman said that TWICE :sad2:
People are so insensitive sometimes.
We love all things Star Wars too.

Happy Father's Day to your DH and your crew!

I feel like I look so tired in this picture, but Disney isn't always cute...at least not for me!

Same here! Especially on hot/tired days.

I tried to ignore the headache that was creeping up and enjoy my surroundings.

Uh oh...

Rude. :P I guess if they were so desperate not to sit with a stranger that they all wanted to sit uncomfortably squished, that's up to them. People are funny.

I also didn't drink any blue milk...it looked like it had been sitting out so long it had solidified...lol!

This is hilarious! I also found this a little disconcerting. :)

Hollywood Studios!!

I wish that's where I was today!
Don't we all!!! :cloud9:

I guess I did NOT have a friend in them. The wife just kept saying, "I don't want you to have to sit with her. I don't want you to have to sit with her." Like I was carrying the plague?? I didn't particularly want to sit with them either, so who cares??
Ugh! What is with people!? While I haven't had the level of blatant obnoxiousness as you did with that lady, I've had a few encounters that make me super conscious about being alone. But I find it's usually the exception rather than the rule. I was on the phone with my mom while in line for Snow White on my first solo trip back in 2006 and something I said made the woman in front of me (with her husband and two kids) say once I hung up: "I'm sorry to be noisy, but I couldn't help but overhear that you're here... alone? Good for you, I can't imagine doing that but it sounds so exciting!" And then I rode Snow White with her and her family and they very excitedly wished me a great rest of my solo trip once we departed company  I find usually people are somewhere in between these two stories, but it's neat to use solo trips as a way to make fast friends with people in line, when the occasion presents itself :thumbsup2

I documented my sad little score:
I rode TSMM by myself last month while mu husband stayed back in the room. The CM didn't care and no one was put next to me.

That lady was very rude, especially since there was no chance that they would have put the toddler with you.

I think you had a pretty good score. :)

CMs will say to you when you roll up alone
I actually ended up having my own personal dance party with one of them. I was alone-RD and was one of the first riders, and was dancing the whole way though the queue (not weirdly, just happy like). Exited, and got right back in line (this may be my favourite ride) and the same CM remembered me (from my awesome dance moves) and started to dance towards me! It was really fun! And I at no point felt awkward being alone! (I actually rode twice more that day)

If I do another solo trip, I think I will skip this ride
I know your experience was pretty poor, but seriuosly give it another SOLO go!!
