simple question, wilderness lodge, beach club or contemporary as the are all coming out roughly the same price. For a summer trip next year with a 3 and a 6 year old so keeping walking down in the heat is quite inportant

If you're going MK alot then Contemporary, if you're going Epcot alot Beach Club.

We love BC, always stay there now :)

We love the beach club (mainly due to the number of restaurants nearby and the pool). Epcot and dhs are ok for the kids but obviously magic kingdom the best (but not best for interesting dining ideas). I know BC is the best pool but contemporary looks ok.

The other thing I was wondering if whether being able to ride an ice cool monorail to Epcot will also be a big bonus in the August heat

Yeah the Monorail to Epcot from TTC would be good. I think if you plan your time, you'd do well at either resort :)

BC for the pool, if nothing else.

It's a lovely hotel. Walking distance to two parks which is great with young kids - no stressing about buses!

I don't like the contemporary though. It feels soulless to me. WL is nicer so if you want easy MK access I'd do that.

That is one of my major concerns that it won't be very Disney and the area around there won't compare to the boardwalk and beach club ambience.

How long does it take on the monorail from the contemporary to Epcot?

As I say in the heat the non bus non walking routes to the parks is what is making it a tough choice. Walk to Epcot from BC is great but it's still a fair (and dull) walk to dhs

CR is like an Airport Terminal for me, bland and not much fun. Just my opinion of course!

You have to take the Monorail to TTC, go down the ramp, then up the ramp, then wait for the Monorail. You're prob looks 30 mins+ from your room to Epcot Gates.

I loved the WL when I stayed there but it is a boat or bus to everywhere. They do have a nice pool area and newly remodeled pool restaurant. The Contemporary is fun because of the monorail and for me because it is the first place I stayed as a child. I have stayed at YC and loved their pool and BC shares the pool area.

It would probably depend on whether you don't mind traveling by boat since that is the option for both WL and BC (unless you walk to EP and HS). It also depends on how much time you plan to stay at your resort. With little ones the pool area may just be the most important feature!

If all the prices are the same, I'd go either WL or BC. You mentioned WL didn't seem very Disney, in my opinion and it's mine only, WL seems a tad more Disney than CR. CR always reminds me of a convention center and doesn't really seem that kid friendly to me. As far as the heat and walking, you are going to take a boat from WL to MK or over to CR to catch the monorail to Epcot and you are going to bus everywhere else. You can either monorail or walk to MK from CR (frankly the walk if much faster for me) and the monorail to Epcot, you are still going to bus to AK and HS and if the monorail goes down (which it often does) you are going to bus to Epcot as well. At BC you can either walk or boat to both Epcot and HS, the boats have AC but we always walk it, even when my son was little. You are either going to bus to MK or walk through Epcot and catch the monorail and bus to AK. It just depends on where you think you are going to be spending the most time.

Thanks everyone. Making me lean to BC. At least having stayed twice before i will be less likely to be disappointed (although some add TripAdvisor reviews lately).

I am surprised WL is coming in at the same price - its usually cheaper by some way than the CR.

I would only stay in the Tower at CR. Like WL too having stayed recently. Not fussed by BC or the pool.

Yes a little bit cheaper. Deciding this weekend, think it will likely be BC again.

The rooms look nice at cr and biggest on property I ve heard

Beach Club. It has the best pool, hands down. All of the resort rooms are inside one main building, as well. For summer, this one is a no-brainer.

It all depends on what your priorities are and where you are going parks wise...

CR is the best for location with regards to MK, being able to walk too and from the MK makes for an awesome experience. The rooms feel spacious and functional and we have always been happy with the food choices and amenities, however, their pool is very nondescript. I can see why people think of it as more 'sterile' but its functionality for MK is difficult to beat. The Monorail to the TTC is a quick stop and then a swap over to the other line and then off to Epcot... We do it all the time. We usually stay in the Garden Wing (south) due to the cheaper price and usually have a 'bay lake' view, we enjoy relaxing on the rear deck area.

WL is my kids favorite place, they love the theming and the grandiose nature of the main building and lobby. They love the pool there too. We find the boat is very convenient to MK and from the vast majority of our stays it is a quick and easy line to pop on and get to the MK, bonus is that a lot of the time you don't need to fold your stroller!... of course, based on getting the larger boats. We usually split our time between these 2 resorts as a family of 5. WL comes out to around $100 cheaper per night for most of our stays either with AP discount or FL resident discount, so WL is better value for money for us, but we love staying until closing to maximize our time in the parks and so prioritize the ability to miss the stressful queue for the monorail, buses or boats!

We have never stayed at the BC but have wandered around its grounds once or twice, the pools are indeed cool, but based on everything else we didn't see the mass appeal that is often shared on this board.... but I guess that just highlights the individual perspectives and opinions of 'likes and dislikes' that make life so interesting! If I were paying $500+ per night then i'd look for BLT, my personal favorite!

I think you are right about everything except for the ease of walking to Epcot. If you are concerned about the heat, it is a decent walk from the back of the Yacht club and the entrance from BC resort is in the Countries, so you still have a long walk to the main attraction areas. The CR is the best for transportation but it is like a convention center os the person above said.

I would say Contemporary for the ease of getting to Magic Kingdom especially if all around a similar price.

Have you not considered The Polynesian? Perfect for kids of that age I would say.

1 stop on the monorail (GF) to Magic Kingdom and a short walk to the TTC to get the monorail to EPCOT.

Think it works out a fair bit more unfortunately.

Thinking about a split stay, would people recommend or is it a lot of effort switching resorts? Would be 4/5 offsite then 5 nights at the two resorts each.

I can see people's negatives about both resorts but let's face it in Disney you are paying for position as much as anything (shame animal kingdom isn't very close to Epcot or mk!)

Swtiching is really easy.

We did a Poly BC Split, and you just pack up and Bell Services do the rest to your next resort.

(Our move wasnt even planned, we started at Poly and wanted to move to BC (BC was way over priced when we booked), they still accommodated our move with ease!)

Maybe a split stay is the perfect solution then!
