I spent too much money on water bottles

It's too bad there isn't any place at the parks to fill up a water bottle with filtered water. Orlando water tastes awful. It was hit or miss if we got the bad tasting water at a restaurant or quick counter food spot. I could have bought a case of water & we each could have lugged 4-5 bottles with us all day. But that's not practical. I don't like to drink anything else, except for the morning coffee.

Is there a list of where to get a free cup of good tasting water in the parks?

Why not get one of those water bottles that have a filter in it (like a Britta water bottle).

Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Brita-Ounce-...1493176209&sr=8-3&keywords=brita+water+bottle

You can get FREE ice water at any QS location which is NOT out of the tap. It comes from the soda fountains so it's not FL nasty water. I get it and put in my own bottle.

I went to a training class last month and the building that I was in had built in the wall water bottle filling stations next to the water fountains. It was the first time I had ever seen anything like this, and I thought it was a great idea. I wish WDW would do something like that.

I would recommend a bottle that has a built in filter, like the Brita. I carry a 100 ounce Camelbak, which is enough water for me all day.

FWIW, every time i've gone into a QS restaurant, its wall-to-wall at the counters where you pick up the food. Its difficult to get to get close the counters. The one time I did want water, it was a 5 minute wait before the CM could help me.

The building where I work has inline filters attached to every water fountain's water supply line. It would be nice if Disney would do this, but i'm not holding my breath.

Yes. I thought that too. However, there were a few places we went to that gave us the nasty water.

The only one I remember was the ice cream shop in tommorowland next to the bathrooms. It sells root beer floats.

I can't remember which other places had the bad water. A couple of them were CS places, not just snack buildings.

If you bring a filter bottle you could then just ask for a cup of ice at a QS to keep it cooler than water fountain temp.

Our family usually uses our own bottles at home, but at Disney World we get cases of water. We wear a backpack when it's a group of us or I have a crossbody bag that I carry when it's just 2-3 of us. And we don't have to wait in a QS line or carry around a cup. That's what works best for us.

imagine if disney didnt' filter it first (yes all the water is filtered, you should taste it before the filter.. I'd rather put a cup into the pool and drink that if that was my only choices). Their older wells definitely taste worse (disney is their own water company with 9 wells around property). technically it's reedycreek but same thing.

The only 2 things that sometimes help is, everyone carries a couple bottles and get some cases delivered from amazon prime now, garden grocers or just get a lyft or uber and do a store run one afternoon. worst case is the $6.50 cases they sell in the resort stores but they are 8oz I believe which isn't bad to carry around... the trick is everyone needs to carry their own until it's down to 1 last one then 1 person can carry the small bags and last round of bottles. not always a possibility though.. Disunplugged actually did a minisode on this and if a family of 4 used cases of water delivered (including fee to get it delivered) it was almost $300 savings vs buying bottled water around the parks.

The other thing that surprised me is getting the free water and using those flavor bottles you can get cheap at the supermarket to turn bottled water into another drink. they do sometimes mask or cut the taste and it's not just disney flavor water. Some places it's not always great..

The thing that always gets me, is a lot of the bottled water around america came from florida tap water so there is a way to get this better and not sure why nobody makes it better.. it must be some federal regulation around water in pipes or something where they have to make it crappy.

We used Britta bottles for the first time last trip, often filling them up straight out of the water fountains at the parks. We were amazed that there was no taste to the water using these bottles. I really recommend them.

My cynical side says there isn't incentive for Disney to improve the taste of the water. They make money selling us drinks.

My kinder side says there must be more to it.

I'm actually wondering if they might have just started to try and improve it.. Last weekend I was at AK and all over the place, where appropriate, they had the water in self serve with cups next to it. It was a better taste to it and much easier to see you didn't have to pay for a bottle of water.. I haven't been in another park yet to see if that's just AK or if they are starting to do that elsewhere. I know tiffins makes a huge deal about their tri filtered water when they ask what you want to drink. maybe they finally get it.

I admit, since we can taste the water, even through the sodas at lunch, we carry our own. 2 per person for the morning, then 2 per person in the afternoon. We freeze them, or carry a cooler backpack. Yeah..heavy at first, but it lightens up quick!

We buy cases of water and freeze them overnight to carry into the parks the next day. When we are at a CS location we order at least 2cups of ice water per person.

Good to know. We just ordered new Brita bottles for our trip.

Lol! I seem to be alone here, but I have gotten used to the taste of the water over the years. I find it's best very cold right out of a drinking fountain so I'll fill up my bottle and drink it right away and then refill it in case I'm really thirsty and I'm not near a drinking fountain. Of course I also fill up with the better water from a CS when I can.
