So Much to Celebrate. . a Disney Wedding, 30th Anniversary & Easter 2015 Updated 3/29

Just joining in now! I started following someone's else's TR after they showed up on my PTR...then I saw one of @vamassey1's comments on their TR and followed the link in the signature here! Long story short, here I am! I'm really looking forward to reading more from both of you, and seeing your wedding stuff! We're also planning a DFTW at the moment for this August, and while we went with the Escape package I totally see the appeal of doing Memories and keeping it small..especially with some of the family drama we've had trying to bring a bigger group to Disney. :P Looking forward to the next updates!

Life Update

We're in crunch time now. So much going on. Danielle graduates in just a little over a month so it's getting even busier here. She had Prom on Friday night. This was her and mine last Prom. Since she's the youngest it's my last everything too. We start Spring Break on Friday. Danielle is suppose to go to Memphis during the last part of the break for a show choir convention. They won't be competing but they will be preforming. This is her first year doing show choir. We just found out today we have been offered a Wild card spot at First Robotics Competition Worlds in Houston. Danielle has been a member of the robotics team since her freshman year. They went to Worlds her sophomore year too. She would love to go again but it's at the same time as the show choir event. That's a tough choice. I normally travel with the team but I have court on the 19th and I'm awaiting a special delivery. Our robot did really good at our last regional but we didn't get past the quarter final matches since our alliance didn't do well. On top of all of this Michelle is close to popping. She's not due until May 8th but she is already 3 cm dilated. The doctor seems to think in will be in the next week or so.

We need to plan Danielle's graduation party. The venue for the graduation ceremony is small. As of now each graduate can only have 6 people at the actual graduation. So we're thinking we need to have a graduation crawfish boil for all the family and friends that can't go. We're thinking party May 13th, graduation May 16 and we leave for Disney May 20th. We normally drive to Disney but on Friday I made an executive decision and decided we would fly. So I called Disney and added another park day to our tickets, moved our T-Rex reservation from dinner to lunch, set fast passes for Saturday late afternoon and night at DHS and booked our flights. We fly out of New Orleans at 6:30 a.m. We arrive at 9:10 a.m. This give us a chance to spend more time in DHS and see the Star Wars night time show. Originally we only had one day at DHS and planned on doing Fantasmic. On Saturday I booked our Magical Express. We don't fly back until 3:45 p.m. so we'll get to sleep a little after our long day at Animal Kingdom for the opening of Pandora. The next 40 days are going to fly by. I'm hoping we have a baby around Easter so Danielle doesn't miss it.

I know I'm rambling but it's just so much in such a short time.

I'll close this post with some Prom pictures.

Thanks! And thanks for popping over to my PTR, too!

You've got a busy schedule these days! Danielle's prom pictures are beautiful :)

Following along, just found your report so have really enjoyed catching up on it. What a wonderful trip so full of celebrations and you both have great writing styles!
This has to be my favourite quote from any trip report ever though!
Guess what's outside the safari? A BAR!!!! Sweet baby Jesus
I'm with you too Michelle I'm a major Type A planner and when my husband and I went with my parents I ended up getting stressed that 'was everyone happy?' 'Did everyone see that?' 'Will Dad want to wait in that line?' So I totally get your stress! And they joy of finding a well placed drink - mine was a rum dole whip (but they couldn't call it that with rum...) in Epcot! Can't wait to read about your wedding and huge congratulations on expecting your little boy!

Thanks! And thanks for popping over to my PTR, too!

I'm still catching up but I'm loving it!

Thank you!

:welcome: I'm trilled you found us. We try to get as much celebration bang for our Disney buck. It's our go to place.

We're also planning a DFTW at the moment for this August, and while we went with the Escape package I totally see the appeal of doing Memories and keeping it small..especially with some of the family drama we've had trying to bring a bigger group to Disney.

HOW EXCITING!!!! Congrats to you. There really is nothing better than a Disney Wedding. I'll have to get to reading up on your PTR. I'm on Monday of our trip right now and we got married that Tuesday. So the good stuff is coming! But even better was being able to celebrate afterwards for that week in the parks. If I had the time and effort to just post the entire trip report, I would right now because it was just the best experience. In fact, we just packed the hospital bags to get ready for the baby coming and they suggested to bring something happy to use pleasure to block pain and I grabbed the photobook I made of our Disney wedding trip. My husband actually has this weird idea that he wants to marry me each year. We had the Disney wedding, then had it blessed in the church a year later, then this year we renewed our vows in the church again. My point being that there are so many different places in Disney to get married. When we hit 5 (or maybe not until 10, depending on kids ages and $$$) I want to renew our vows in Italy in Epcot.

So I totally get your stress! And they joy of finding a well placed drink

no kidding, huh? I'm really not a big drinker. Mainly, just socially. But when you need a quick "ahhhhhh" kind of relaxing moment, it certainly helps to turn a corner and have a fancy-shmancy drink just a few dollars away. I'd say this was the trip of the mojito. They gave me a "mickey mojito" at lunch after the wedding... but more on that later! But thanks for joining, I love to share the story of our trip with whoever will listen.

April 5th Easter/Anniversary Walking the World Part 2

Are you ready for some more of World Showcase? Doesn't matter because you're getting some more. After Germany we started making our way towards Italy.

Italy is so pretty and there is always so much to see.

I've never actually caught the full show of this but we did see a glimpse of it on this day. One day I want to catch the whole show. It's hard to get Dennis to stop for certain entertainment. I really enjoy seeing all the different entertainment offered.

I really think they went all out on decorating for Flower and Garden in Italy.

Still so much to see so we headed to the American Adventure. We resisted eating at any of the food stations on this day. We were saving our bellies for our dinner. I did have this place behind Woody on my radar for later.

I did drag Dennis and Danielle inside in hopes of catching the Voices of Liberty but they were just finishing up. The only time I have truly caught them for any length of time was back in 2010 and I loved it. Just more thing to put on the list for this year.

Japan is one of Danielle's favorite pavilions. She could spend hours here especially in the Mitsukoshi Store. She is very big into anime and even does some cosplay. Her souvenirs usually come from here. It hasn't always been easy getting it home. On one of our very few trips that we flew we had to get a wall scroll in the suitcase. We also can't get out of here without doing the pick a pearl. She wanted to save that for the day when we had Michelle and Chelsea with us.

In Morocco we stopped for a bit to catch the new to us entertainment offered. It was ok but we missed the belly dancer.

I tried to convince Dennis to pose facing the fountain and look over his shoulder but he wouldn't play along. Maybe I can get Jimmy and Tyler to do it later in the week.

Finally we made it to France. I wanted to get something off my bucket list and Dennis and Danielle were ready to get off their feet and into some air conditioning. We finally made it in to see Impressions de France. As Steppe has said, the French countryside is beautiful, the music is too and the chairs are so cushy which meant we all dozed off. I'm truly sorry but it happens every trip. We always end of napping somewhere. I do want to go back and try it again. Danielle has decided she wants to major in criminology and French so maybe this time we'll get more out of it.

So many topiaries in France! If you look close in the next picture you may find the hidden egg.

Did you see it?

Remember it was Easter Sunday.

It's now time to cross the channel. The United Kingdom has so much to see in such a tiny area. It also has lots of topiaries. It use to have my favorite entertainment, the World Showcase Players. I loved their King Arthur tale. Dennis always went and hid, I think he was afraid of getting picked.

It looks like we bypassed Canada all together to make our way back to see something Danielle and I had never seen. We enjoyed more of Flower and Garden as we made our way back across the World.

We traveled all the way back to China to see the Acrobats. Believe it or not we had never seen the complete show. What little we had seen was from a distance. We staked our our spot on the ground and waited. We had front row seat and really enjoyed the show. The performers were so young. I couldn't help but thing they must miss their homes and families.

After walking all the way to China we now needed to walk some more to use a 4th FP+ we got. I'll save that for another update.

Lovely World Showcase pictures! It looks like it was a beautiful day. (Hot, of course, but still pretty.) I don't believe I've seen any of the shows/performers that you talked about; I'm really failing on my WS touring.

I'm looking forward to a post hopefully soon announcing a certain baby's arrival. :rolleyes1:goodvibes

Thanks you! It was a beautiful and hot day. We love the entertainment. Try to catch more on your next trip (when is that?).

We're still waiting. I sent Danielle with the robotics team to Houston for FIRST World Championship, but I'm here on babywatch. Michelle is soooo ready.

When I read about you and your kids dancing I knew this would catch your attention.

NOTHING better than an impromptu dance party!

Haven't seen this yet. We don't always go left but most times we do. On the first trip I took with the kids I read to go left and it has stuck, but I really think the entertainment goes right. Does that make sense?

Makes sense, but as I think I clarified, it sometimes depends on if you have an ADR somewhere that you want to END UP at or something. And..... we usually spend more than one day at EPCOT (WS) so can go one way one day, and the other the next.

I did drag Dennis and Danielle inside in hopes of catching the Voices of Liberty but they were just finishing up. The only time I have truly caught them for any length of time was back in 2010 and I loved it. Just more thing to put on the list for this year.

They are truly magical to watch! Just wonderful!

I tried to convince Dennis to pose facing the fountain and look over his shoulder but he wouldn't play along. Maybe I can get Jimmy and Tyler to do it later in the week.

Ahhh, the classic peeing in the fountain photo! Call immature, but this still cracks me up. I'll never forget Jordy and Winkers both pulling this one off.

I can't think of a more gorgeous place to take a little DISnooze. Ahhh.... feel that AC!

MAJOR egghunts coming your way on my DLR thread. ;) <spoiler!>

I've only ever caught them once but really enjoyed their show. And thought the same thing. So, so young.

Yes! I hoping to get the teenagers to dance next month.

Makes sense, but as I think I clarified, it sometimes depends on if you have an ADR somewhere that you want to END UP at or something. And..... we usually spend more than one day at EPCOT (WS) so can go one way one day, and the other the next.

This is true. I'm with on 2 days in Epcot. So much to see and do.

They are truly magical to watch! Just wonderful!

I've already told Dennis they're on my list for next month.

Ahhh, the classic peeing in the fountain photo! Call immature, but this still cracks me up. I'll never forget Jordy and Winkers both pulling this one off.

This is just what I had in mind. I think @Glennbo and James did it too.

I can't think of a more gorgeous place to take a little DISnooze. Ahhh.... feel that AC!

And not near as loud as American Adventure.

MAJOR egghunts coming your way on my DLR thread. ;) <spoiler!>

Looking forward to it.

've only ever caught them once but really enjoyed their show. And thought the same thing. So, so young.

I'm curious if it's the same kids again this year.

April 5th Easter/Anniversary Almost Done with Epcot

Am I the only one that thinks I do the most walking at Epcot? So far we walked from Future World, all the way around World Showcase, then back to China and now we're going to go back to Future World for our 4th FP+. Along the way we enjoyed more of Flower and Garden.

I know it's way too many pictures but Epcot is just soooo pretty during Flower and Garden.

So where was our 4th FP+? Why is was at a family favorite of ours. I can't believe we waiting so long to ride this. We did this for the first time in 2004 and now try not to miss it. In a way it's the same stuff but it also isn't. Depending on when you visit you see the plants at different stages and sometimes not at all. Of course it's "Living with the Land".

After our boat trip it was time for more walking. It was time to leave Epcot and head to our special Anniversary Dinner. We were meeting Jimmy and Michelle for steaks at Yachtsman Steakhouse. I was really looking forward to this dinner. Another first for all of us and we love steaks. And of course I took pictures the whole way out the park to the International Gateway.

Continued from previous post.

There weren't many people waiting for the boat. I don't think we waited for too long before we were enjoying the ride over to the Boardwalk area. We had given ourselves plenty of time so we could see as much of the area as possible during the daylight. In the past we had come here at night.

']Having never been to the Yacht Club it took us a little bit to find the Yachtsman Steakhouse. We found some really comfortable benches to wait for Jimmy and Michelle. They were on their way via Downtown Disney. I went to the lobby to meet them so they wouldn't get lost trying to find us. We waited a bit more after we checked in. It really felt good to sit after all the walking.

']We enjoyed our meal but it wasn't the best meal ever and I wouldn't say it was worth using 2 credits but I'm glad we did it. We kind of splurged on this meal and got appetizers too. I'm not going to post the blurry picture the waiter took again. His name was John and he was really good and earned his very nice tip. I do have a few pictures of my food.

']Michelle has already posted about this dinner and night but I'm going to fill it in a little. I don't have any more pictures but we did have some more fun. By the time we finished with dinner Chelsea and Tyler had checked into their hotel for the night. They were staying at one of the Downtown Disney hotels that night on a discount I had found. The next morning they were moving over to POP. They had driven to Disney too. We hopped a bus and met them in Downtown Disney. This was Tyler's first taste ever of Disney. We looked around not really planning on buying anything. While in Arribas Brothers Tyler had an incident that even to this day he hasn't lived down. Dennis, Danielle and I were over by the tiaras, Danielle had her heart set on getting one. Jimmy and Michelle were looking around with Chelsea and Tyler. There was an artisan set up in the store working on something. We were in a store with lots of breakables, can you just image what happened? Tyler had found an Olaf he liked, and somehow it ended up falling and breaking. While everyone stood around with their mouths opened wide the artisan just simply said "Poor Olaf". Tyler offered to pay but they just brushed it aside and vacuumed him up. He would have put a major hurt in Tyler's wallet. Needless to say that phrase was repeated over and over for the rest of the trip. Tyler and Chelsea had been dating for a good while, but this trip was the first time we had a chance to spend time with him and get to know him. He's kinda of quite but we really had a great time with him.
']
The picture Michelle posted on the bus was taken on our way back to Port Orleans from DTD. We had such a great time that night. Lots of laughs were shared.

We also love Living with the Land! I try to make sure we get on it when we're at Epcot unless it has a long line, which doesn't happen to often. Some people don't like it...they're obviously just wrong. :P

Oh my goodness, poor Olaf!! That's terrible, but also so funny. And I thought melting in summer would be the biggest of his worries!

That's good to know about your Yachtsman dinner, too. We've never been, and every time we go we talk about getting an ADR, but so far it hasn't happened. We may still try it sometime, but probably not on the dining plan.

I don't think we would wait in a long line either but we do try and do it each trip.

We had such a laugh about this. And of course Olaf was everywhere in the parks.

CRT is worth 2 credit either but we go for the experience too. I'm glad we did Yachtman's but I don't feel the need to do it again.

YOU AND ME BOTH!!!! Just shy of 38 weeks now, but I've been ready to rock and roll since about 35 weeks. So basically, I have a child inside me that's about a stubborn and comfy as his father.

In the meantime, I'm going to go ahead and skip on forward. Sorry, mom. Fill in all the things your elephant brain remembers that I don't...

Monday Evening: Chef Mickey "Rehearsal Dinner"

Jimmy and I got ready and met my in laws in their room to walk together to the POR bus stop. G was makeup'd out with my pearl bracelet she wears as a choker, and dress ready to roll. She had just turned 5, but for her to keep up and to keep my in laws from having to wrangle her, we brought the little umbrella stroller. Helped a lot in the airport, too.

We needed to get to the Contemporary for dinner at Chef Mickey's. I don't remember the exact time (mom, help) but I want to say it was really late. Maybe 8ish. I actually saw a Magic Kingdom bus coming to the bus stop as we were walking. But again, my in laws took this trip very leisurely…. So it was decided, "no use to run, there will be another." Well there wasn't. We waited and waited and waited for the bus. Cue stress. So we took the next best bus (which felt like forever) and just went to DTD. We could just get a bus straight to the contemporary from there, anyway. YALL! Those buses do not come that often, and when they do, they are packed. There was a lot of waiting and sitting in a bus line. *breathe* We tried to make the most of just having time together. Goofing off, taking funny pictures, and just remembering that no matter what time we got to dinner… we were still getting married the next day. But my mom kept "updating" me on our reservation and "gently reminding me" that we were late. (Love you, mom. Not helpful) At this point it was completely out of my hands, even though I was the only one in our current group that knew how to navigate where we needed to be. I was such a hot, anxious mess.

Bottom line: we were VERY late to an already late-night dinner. I was
hangry, and I was panicked that we would lose the reservation. I was worried everyone was hangry and mad at me. Then we got there (the heavens opened up basically), they said it wasn't an issue, I got to see my brother for the first time in quite a while, we were seated almost immediately, I had a cocktail and all was right in the world again (are you seeing a recurring theme here).

This was the first dinner that we were ALL together, and it was probably my husband and I's favorite! I mean, EVERYONE enjoyed it. Sweet Gia started to stress that Mickey would come to the table while she got her food. So she would only eat the food that was closest to our table. Then I offered to just go get it for her and she was, like, "OMG YES!" Sure enough, here comes Mickey and Goofy and it was like a fire lit up in her eyes and I can't tell you how quickly my heart melted and it made everything so worth it to see her that happy. THAT IS WHAT DISNEY IS ALL ABOUT!!!!

But truly, it was such a great experience and great way to start the wedding festivities. We were there late enough, too, to see the fireworks out the window. Granted, we were kind of tucked away in a corner and there was too much excitement with the characters. It still made for a nice moment.

Slow paced or not, my in laws are still SUPER AWESOME and clearly really got into it all!

At one point, Gia got really attached to my brother. My brother is a super-music-freak and I mean that in the best way possible. He is so talented and he's also really great with kids. And dry. His humor is as dry as the day is long, but it really adds to his character. Well I think Gia saw that as a challenge. She was going to break him and make him love her! Somehow Gia and Brent ended up drawing music stuff in her autograph book and he was teaching her new things. I still smile when I come across those pages. And even though he lives hours away, he still sends her birthday cards and Christmas gifts and she just adores him. Not that this is relevant information to our trip, but it does make me super happy.

We just had the best time at this dinner. I've been before several times with my family and enjoyed ourselves each time. My husband is insistent now that we can never go to Disney and miss going to Chef Mickey's. I agree with him. He's sentimental like that.

Since this was in the 24 hour period that we were all together, we took our Chef Mickey picture and it has to be one of my favorites! Then there was no question, I needed better shoes. STAT! Prior to the trip, I had gotten some great Champion shoes from Payless that looked like cute flats, but were built like athletic shoes. This being my wedding trip, I may understand the need for comfort, but looking cute was probably my number 1 priority. I'm not above admitting that! Heck, I wore a strapless dress to AK just in case I got a tan line the day before my wedding. :PThen my dog chewed up my perfectly cute and comfortable, magical balance of a shoe. So right before the trip, I replaced them and didn't have enough time to break them in. I ended up buying these sandals in a size too big from the store inside chef mickey's.

*Girl, shave your legs, you're getting married tomorrow!*

After dinner it was time to say goodnight and goodbye to my husband-to-be. I was staying in the room with my parents in POR. So we were all able to ride the bus together. I think I remember everyone going to play at the arcade while I decided to hang back and download photopass pictures and make sure everything was in order for the next morning: OUR WEDDING! And of course remind everyone of the VERY DETAILED itinerary for the next day.... one that included several means of transportation and direction to get to the wedding. YUP, I'm THAT GIRL.

Huh! So Yachtsman wasn't amazing. I didn't expect that! I also didn't expect the buses from DTD would be that big of an issue! Good to know!!! EEEK!

I'd have been mortified if I'd dropped and broken something! I"m SO glad Disney knew just how to deal with it- accidents do happen, but oh man, I'd have probably cried.

Love all the photos from Chef Mickeys! Just such a fun, happy time, even if you were late. I'd think it'd be less of a problem to get you in even if you were late that far into the evening. Much easier, I'd think, then say around 6:00. Then, I might not count on it.

Sorry, you had to deal with a few folks who don't quite get the transportation thing and understand how long it takes to get from place to place! That would majorly stress me out too if you had ADRs and that many people who are involved. Glad it did work out, but sadly, that's not always the case.

Your Chef Mickey dinner sounds really special. How nice it must have been to have your whole family together. As an adult who hasn't been around both of my siblings at the same time since 2013, I can appreciate that.
Ugh, Disney transportation can be so stressful. DTD buses are the worst! Glad you didn't run into any problems showing up late.
