Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

From the valet and DME drop off area at the front of the resort to the Speedway it is a .30 mile walk and a pretty big benefit for Epcot area resort guests

Is there a sidewalk or at least a safe place to walk to the Speedway Station from BW?

Does the Boardwalk Bakery serve quick service breakfast other than pastries? Where would be the closest place to go if someone wanted (quick service) mickey waffles, eggs, sausage, etc?
We walked over to the Dolphin and ate breakfast at Picabu Buffeteria one morning while staying at BWV a couple of months ago,

It is directly across from the entrance to the Boardwalk Resort. There is no traffic light and you have to cross a large divided road to get there. Traffic usually isn't too busy right there, but you do need to cross "quickly".

Okay. Thank you. I had read a post where someone mentioned having to walk through grass and they got bit by a snake. I just didn't want to take that chance. I am petrified of snakes! I'd rather spend the extra money on beer, wine and snacks at the Screen Door if I can't walk on a sidewalk or at least a road.
Speaking of the Screen Door, does anyone know if they carry Michelob Ultra and if so, the approximate cost for a 6-pack or 12-pack? Bud Light would work for us too.

6 packs are $15 and Miller lite, Coors Lite, Bud, bud lite are what is listed on Touring Plans

:earsboy:I just called the Speedway near BW and they said that 12 packs are $14.49 (at least for Michelob Ultra), so the savings there plus savings on water and snacks might be worth the walk.

It is worth the walk buy drinks/snacks at Speedway BUT I would not say you have a sidewalk to get to the store itself. When you are on Boardwalk property, yes, there are sidewalks to get from the resort to the main road, but like a PP stated, there is no crosswalk to get across the lanes of traffic to get to the Speedway property. After crossing the street, you can walk on the roadway or in the overgrown grass. I did not see any pedestrian access to Speedway from the street when we walked there in March. It was a little scary because we were walking on the road at night & the cars entering Speedway are not watching for pedestrians. We did not want to take a chance walk in the grass & luckily I was wearing red so eventually cars that were entering the Speedway did see us walking on the road.

20oz sodas were 3 for $5 & we bought a jug of water for $2. much cheaper than Disney prices! if you're buying a lot, definitely bring along an empty rolling luggage to make the trek easier.

there is a walkway along the parking lot. and then you have to walk on the edge of the driveway.. cross the street and walk along the entrance driveway to the speedway.. it's really no big deal at all. (but I guess technically you're not supposed to walk or cross there? one time coming back the guy in the booth stopped me to ask for ID. I guess it looked strange, a lone woman entering the resort with a rolling suitcase! lol (could have been a homeless person).
but as I said, there is more to be purchased there than beer or wine.soda sub sandwiches, snacks, etc.(yes, cigs.. I hate to say, for hubby)

probably not. but are you the couple my hubby nebo and I talked with on the bus about his trip reports? and you posted a couple times? anyhow. glad to hear I'm not the only one walking to the gas station!
I don't think so and definitely not. Someone gave me the tip years ago when I was staying at port orleans and on that trip I took a bus to hollywood studios, walked to Hess, then back to HS bus station and went back to Port Orleans. Its a nice perk for sure.

Are there any recent reports/pictures of the exterior maintenance work that is going on? I'm really curious about the location of the work over the past week or so. I stopped by the resort in December, so I'm aware of the scope of what's going on. I'm really just curious about where they're working as of now since I'll be there in a little over a week.

So, we checked in this afternoon. We got a little bit of pixie dust and got upgraded to water view from standard and got exactly the view I wanted.

I haven't seen any actual renovations being done in the hotel, but Village Green courtyard area is currently blocked off with signs saying it's being refurbished. A lot of machinery along the actual Boardwalk this afternoon. Seems like routine maintenance stuff, power washing the walls and awnings, changing light bulbs, etc.

Quick question - we are staying SV CL next week - are the CL rooms all on the same floor as the lounge? What floor would that be? Are there SV rooms close to the lounge? This will be our first stay at BWI CL and it's only 1 night so I'm not too concerned with our room location - more curious where we could be.

We stayed in a SV CL room basically right outside the lounge. The lounge is setback in the hallway with a table in front of it with a huge vase of beautiful flowers, then there is a unisex restroom and then the lounge. We had a room (2x) that when you left the lounge and went to the left it was the first room. There is a suite right across the hall from the lounge. The view was fabulous - courtyard, could see the top of the Eiffel tower and the high Illuminations fireworks. I believe it is the 4th floor and there are some rooms on the 3rd floor. there are also two rooms outside the 'magic' door. I always thought I'd dislike being outside the door. So we just request 'near lounge'. My husband did have some mobility issues both times we had that room. One trip he had just sprained his ankle and another he had a knee brace. So not sure if we lucked out because the CM saw him when we checked in.

In addition to the PP info, some CL rooms are outside the club area - closer to the elevator. We stayed SV CL a few years ago (Room 4270). Had a wonderful view of the Illuminations show over the treetops. I believe most of the CL rooms are on the 4th floor, however, I think that those cute little garden rooms on the 1st floor are also CL, and there are a few 3rd floor Boardwalk CL rooms.
